I’m trying to figure out what the utility vehicles do, there is nothing about them in the game manual. Are they doing anything good like repairs or something like that? Thanx for any help!

MINDSPY Utility vehicles They can carry leaders to small formations. They are also organic units to any armoured formation. They are not armed scout units. They may perform the limited role of road reconoiteur but essentially if you expect to find the enemy then the recon wul happen with a half-track. If you expect heavier enemy activity then you would lead with a medium to light tank. If you are a lead unit in an offensive maneuver of any type (even if you are the army in retreat) then you would use your heaviest tank availble to recon ahead of the main body (to draw fire)vwhile your supporting units send out supressing fire in support, and move to enfilade or take by force the enemy positions. Now utility units should be purchased if you buy a formation of company size or larger!. Yes they eat up points without providing any muscle what so ever but they are integral to the battle field as water and food and maps and radios and other essentials are carried in them including SCHNAPPS MINDSPY

I would respectfuly suggest that Mindspy's reply seems to be more of a personal style of play. My style is different. I don't find them important unless playing a campaign where crew rescue is peramount. I never recon with my best tanks. They can be used as cannon fodder, although I don't do so. Yes I do use them for getting commanders to hot spots. I'm willing to bet others will find differences to both our styles :) Experiment, stay fresh with your tactics, they are among the fastest units on the field.

I agree, I use them as minefield finders, to carry snipers around, or to get recon teams back behind an enemy position. They even work for grabbing victory hexes, perhaps they and lightly armed trucks in general should treated like snipers, and not be allowed to control ground. thanks, John.

Kubelwagons (with MGs) Russian Command Cars US Command Cars Jeeps (with 50 cals) ...to name a few These are ALL very useful vehicles (OK, not all are technically utility vehicles), but they can spot for arty, recon with a good chance of dodging enemy fire (although not as much in version 5.0), some have really NASTY mgs that can put a 'hurt' in the enemy infantry's day, and have the added capability of moving leaders, rescuing crews, as well as serving as a target for enemy fire before you move your good troops in the open. I personally never play an online game or campaign without a decent number of these vehicles... oh yeah, almost forgot - bail them out and you have some really hardy anti-tank dudes for ambushes or for spotting (read: triggering) mines and can even clear them if they arent toasted ;) Bob
