After three or so stock campaign games I have decided to get my feet wet with some DBB stuff and downloaded accordingly

Started up Babes Lite with extended map. 2 issues

The extended map appears but a number of the new bases in India as well as Aden and the gulf port are not in sync with any hex

Also the game crashes straight into the Japanese first turn - no opportunity for any prep - is this normal

Help and advice gratefully received

Make sure you download (and install) the extended map as well from the DBB site. Without the new map information the game will probably crash repeatedly. Make sure you get the correct map for what you want, with out without stacking limits. Against the AI, you probably do not want stacking limits or it will screw the AI up badly.

yup I downloaded the extended maps too - maybe I got my files in a mess. Not put in stacking limits for a) your reason and b)not that brave yet anyway

the first turn ran fine but when I came to try and sort out stuff in Aden and the gulf I couldn't get it to shift as the bases weren't aligned to hexes

Did you install the correct pwhexe file? The pwhexe file you use must go with the map files and scenarios you use.

Side question here.

I'm not savvy enough to know how to create separate installs for stock and extended map versions.

I recently acquired a laptop and set it up to run my extended map scenarios.

I attempted to revert my desktop to the stock map, but I got a stock map with stacking limits instead of a stock map without them.

Could this be a result of failing to replace the pwhexe file?

Yes, the wrong pwhexe file will cause that.

To create another install just copy the entire AE folder then on either one install the extended maps. Last create another shortcut to it.

I have AE installed in 5 different folders. Each one for a collection of different map/scenario/ or testing combinations. Some for PBEM. etc......GP

This may be pretty obvious, but make sure you're using the Babes Lite - B version. The Babes Lite - A version is for the stock map.

GP -

I also use the same approach - separate installs for the stock and then each variation of the game. No muss, no fuss.

Hans - I have the unmodded game, "WitP Admiral's Edition Base" under a folder labeled "Witp AE Stock". when I wanted a Big Babes C install, I created a folder of the same name, then copied and pasted the original Base game into that folder. Then I could add the extended map and other data to complete the Babes mod installation. This approach is straight forward and avoids the "install/uninstall" requirements to change mods/

Thank you chaps

I needed to sort out my pwhexe files - seems to have worked so game on. Any idea why the DBB game launches immediately? Its not actually a problem (particularly as the Buffalos did a good job looking after PoW and Repulse but I just want to understand that it is working as intended.

Looking forward to seeing how the DBB combat works as well as mucking about with lots of new ships
