Two scenairos finished. More on the way.
Fradar and I are working on a Dien Bien Phu package of several scenarios that should be ready in time for the next Dirty Dozen.

How appropriate! I'm currently in the midst of reading Jules Roy's The Battle of Dienbienphu. At this point the French have just lost the strongholds of Beatrice and Gabrielle, saw the Thai's desert Anne-Marie and are about to suffer setbacks on Dominique and Eliane. A classic case of underestimating your adversary. Which actions will you be covering?

I would make a different argument. I do not believe that the French underestimated the Viet Mihn. I believe that they forgot that logistics is what wins battles. They deployed in an area that they could not easily resupply.

No bullets, no win.

Easy enough.

Tactics win battles, logistics win wars.

They underestimated both the ability of the Viet Minh artillery (the French artillery commander was so distraught at his inability to silence the Viet guns he committed suicide) and their logistical resourcefulness (the ability to bring forces and supplies to bear so quickly and effectively). Finally, the French command didn't respect the generalship of Giap, considering him little more than a "schoolmaster" out of his league. These were fatal flaws. If the Viets were truly as poor an organization as the French considered them to be they might well have survived their own tactical and logistical mistakes.

Fradar and I are working dilligently to present Dien Bien Phu in an original and perhaps surprising way.

When we speak of DBP, we are including the seige as well as historical events leading to DBP.

At this point, I cannot divulge too much since we are still planning some of the battles.

Beatrice is calling to me to try to make a scenario of that strongpoint.

So far, Operation Castor and Dien Bien Phu 1945 are finished.

Specifics of some operations are quite difficult to dig out but we are workin on it. Fradar has a lot of accurate information he will be sharing with me so we can work more independently. ;)

More to follow, stay tuned.

"Hell in a Very Small Place", by Bernard Fall is a very excellent book for anyone who is seriously studying DBP.

I do hope there will be an H2H version.

Hi Warrior,
I have made 2 H2H conversions so far. So at least some of the DBP and Indochina scenarios will be H2H.
