He continues to clean up the Philippines and the NEI. There the air war in Rangoon is on hold still, but the ground bombardment is underway. The KB heads south not east!!!!


Raiding

Allied Naval Forces
Fleet of Doom: USN CAR DIV 1 (Hornet), USN CAR DIV 2 (Yorktown), CAR Div 4 (Wasp) Force H (Illustrious and Formidable), Force Z (Repulse and North Carolina) are south of Canton replenishing from the replenishment taffy.

CAR DIV 3 (Enterprise): Reaping at Pearl has 41 days in the yard to repair her battle damage. CAR DIV 5 and 6 will be formed from the Lexington and Saratoga and will depart this turn from Pearl Harbor to Baker Island.

The USN 1st Bat Div (Maryland, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Warspite): At Luganville to support operations in the SWPAC area. The Santa Cruz Force is also at Luganville (Chester, Quincy and six Dutch DDs).

Force X (Revenge, Royal Sovereign, Ramillies, Resolution): At Colombo.

Mini-Doom: The small CVE fleet, in two separate taffys has been formed. Currently it comprises the Long Island with 17 Marine F2A-3 Buffalo fighters (speed 16) in one. The second one contains the CL Hermes (speed 25) with 20 Sea Hurricane Ib. Both of these south of Canton Island with the Fleet of Doom.

KB and Mini-KB
Went south not east (see image below for details). Unfortunately for him there are no large convoys in the area at this time.As I see it he has four options (1) Return to Truk or Rabul for no real gain (so far two xAKLs sunk). (2) Continue south and port strike something my xAP, ADPs and xAK (ready to lift for Apple Jacks)at Suva, or the xAKLs, DMs, AR, AOs, AGs, and xAPs at Pago Pago. (3) Head west and engage my surface forces under fighter cover at Luganville. 4) Hit the Fleet of Doom and Mini-Fleet of Doom south of Canton.

After this is done he will either withdraw to Rabaul (most likely) or Truk. We are going to go for an intercept of the fleet as he returns to base if he picks option 2 or 3 and returns to Truk. I doubt I will be able to pull this off as we need to wait for the Saratoga and Lexington to catch up and he needs to withdraw to Truk but it's worth a try.

China
He has continued to bombard from the ground and air at Wenchow to work to burn off my supplies and damage the airfield, supplies stand at 1.4K (steady). We also have 32K troops in the max stacking of 40K. The air force has withdrawn for now. The CAP game of cat and mouse now has a pause by both sides. Will wait a turn or two before we send the air force back.

His army is also prepping for a 42/43 offensive once Wenchow falls. Moving units to hold the areas he is prepping to attack and protect against any Flanking maneuvers. Targets he is prepping for are: Sian, Wuchow, Changsha and Chenchow.

Burma
The ground bombardment continues. Intel Monkey shows the 55th Infantry Bde, 33rd Division, 204th Ship Eng Coy, 21st Med FA Bn, 15th Army, 55th Eng Reg, 112th Infantry Reg and 14th Ind. Art. Mortar Bn prepping for Rangoon.

At Rangoon to oppose them I have the 1st Burma Infantry Division, the 17th Indian Infantry Division, three Burma Infantry Bn, three base force Bn, the Burma Corps HQc, 27K of Supplies, Fort 4-07%, two P-40E ACU, and four British fighter ACUs. We have 19 more air frames and the base then we can handle with aviation support but air combat swill reduce this at some point. There are four HDML's to provide bombardment cover. He has twenty Land units in Rangoon.

At Mandalay there are 36K of supplies, three Burma Infantry Bn, two base force and Forts 4 - 06%. Three poorly equipped Indian Armored Cav Rgts, the 7th Armored Bde, and the Burma Inf Bde are making their way south to smash from Armored Tank Rgts of his moving toward Mandalay.

At Port Blair there are four HDML, 1 ACM, 148 mines, 2 Base Forces and the 45th Indian Bde, 38K of Supplies and Fort 3-84%. All land units are 100% prep'd and the leader of the 45ht has been upgraded.

The air force is bombing the two Armored Reg moving north of his and has damaged the air field at Toungoo to 61% as it seems he moved in an engineer unit to repair the field.

Operation Apple Jacks
One day late and a dollar short, so it is now a battle of attrition to regain Ndeni. The goal is to turn this into a front where we can bring the same amount or more force into play and drain him of planes, supplies and pilots. I want to see if I can use up my current model airplanes before they cannot be used on the front lines in early 1943.

At Vanikoro is a Port level 1, the Airfield 4-84% and the Fort 3, 12 PT Boats, one ACM and one AGP. Looking to scrounge up 150 mines. The 1st Marine Raider Bn and the 8th Marine Def Bn, 1st US Naval Construction Bn , 13th MAG HQ, 2nd USMC Parachute Bn, 2/7 Commando Bn, 3rd Naval Const Bn, 9th Cst AA Rgt and the Del Monte AAF Base Force are at this location. There is one P-39D ACU, two A-24 ACUs, one F4F-3P ACU, one F2A-2 Buffalo ACU, one F4F-3A Wildcat, and one one SB2U-3 Vindicator. Additional Marine Fighter and Dive Bomber ACUs are ready to rotate in or base here as the airfield expands.

Luganville is safe with Forts Level 3, Airfield 7-35% two CD LCUs, one ACM, the 2nd Marine Divion + a lot of friends and 148 mines. If I can come up with the PT boats I will also add some here but this may take a while as I have a bunch of them in the Line Islands. The island has 284 Aviation Support and one Air HQ. six B-17E ACUs and one B-17D ACU ready to bomb the Level 2 Airfield at Tulagi (there is one LB-30 ACU that can also hit Tulagi from Koumac along with an F-4 for recon). The air units are standing down to rest for the next round, have three more B-17 ACUs in route and will resume when they are in place. One PBY-5 to the base for Naval Search.

In the next 30 days or sooner the following will occur to support the advance on Ndeni in Phase 2:
1) The medium range bombers from Pago Pago will deploy to Lugnaville to smash the airfields or Ports that are built on Ndeni, as airfield space is created.
2) The 1st Marine Division, 641st Towed TD Bn, 1 USMC Parachute BN and one FA BN that are now prepping for Ndeni (50% and counting) based at Suva.
3) A trickle down of fighters to the four Marine ACUs at Pago Pago has started. As ACUs with the F2A-2 Buffalo's are filled out they will be added to the air war over the Santa Cruz Islands.
4) There are two US 25 Figher ACU's located at Suva and Pago Pago that can be rotated in as needed for air cover --- along with four 25 Fighter ACU's located at Noumea.

The needed lift is in place in Suva, waiting for the USN 1st Bat Div to arrive to provide surface cover. Once the KB withdraws this operation gets the green light.

Operation Honeycomb
The 147th Sep Inf Reg and the 318th Base Group hold Baker Island. Waiting to see how the possible carrier battle plays out. One aviation Eng Bn will also be sent to the island.

Operation Mr. T
The retaking of the Ellice Islands: Vaitupu and Funafuti. Allied high command wants to make sure we keep the pressure on him from both the Southwest and Central Pacific. I think I am going to fall into a very historical Left-Right attack along the MacArthur and Nimitz lines of advance.

From Nadi the 4 FA Bn, 32nd Infantry Div and the 192nd Tank Bn will attack Funafuti, preparation in the mid 80’s. The 754th Tank Bn, Americal Inf Div and the 205th FA Bn will attack from Koumac and take Vaitupu - ~50% prepped and climbing.

Operation Cookie-Crisp
The landing at Tabiteuea and Tarawa. Forces will stage from Pearl will take these islands. At this point it is just planning and prepping. I don’t expect to be able to do this until all the carriers have completed their upgrades.

For Tabiteuea the 27th Infantry Division, the 181st FA Bn, 763rd Tank Bn and the 134th Cmbt Engr Bn are all prepping for this in the low-70s.

For Tarawa the 21st Infantry Rgt (Restricted), 34th Infantry Rgt and the 34th Combat Engr Rgt are all prepping in the mid-70’s.

Operation Super Golden Crisp
Given he now controls Attu as of June 20th 1942, I have decided on an operation to evict him as quickly as possible before the winter sets in. The main purpose of this is more maskirovka than anything else. I want AirGriff to feel threatened in the north in the hopes he starts diverting resources and units to the defensive line in the Kurile's.

The 3rd Marine Division and 3rs Pioneer Bn are in route to Seattle and are prepping for the landing. I may need to scrounge up some additional forces depending on what we find that is guarding the base. These forces will be paired with the landing ships from the Baker Island campaign and the will move to Dutch Harbor for staging. The Fleet of Doom will support the landing from Pearl Harbor to make as much noise as possible.

1. At Anchorage we have one B-17E ACU, one B-25B ACU and one C-47 ACU.
2. ComAirNoPac HQ-A will relocate from Anchorage to Dutch Harbor and then to Adak.
3. Move two AA units to Adak.
4. Add ACM and 150 mines to Adak.

I've reduced the range of my dive bombers to five hexes, which will bring them under cover of my P-39Ds as well. For some reason my F4F-3A Marine ACU also did not fly escort. Not, to bad one most likely dead APD and one slightly dented for dead DB's that I can replace. This highlights why I need to unleash the bombers on Tulagi as soon as possible, bombing there would have suppressed his fighter cover.

Just need for the three additional B-17 ACUs to unload next turn at Pago Pago and then move to the front.

He went southwest (see image below for details). There was a small air battle over Lugnaville that I won. Will explore my reaction in a separate post, but it will be painful next turn for one of both of us.

Alas I was not smart enough to add the Cats at 1000', but I will remember this for next time! The plan was to burn off the CAP so that if they wandered near the DBs at 10,000' feet from Vanikoro would have a better shot of clearing.

At tasted of the EPIC turn, still on day 1 of the replay.

I can't image how you feel, I recommend only the strong stuff after a combat report like that. I never expected the night ambush to work, much less to be so total. ADM Chester Nimitz has asked for an ETA on the last two Iowa battleships and when can he expect the Montana class to be expedited.

Naval historians will note the sun has not yet set on the age of the battleship.

Status: offline 		Yeah, that did not go as planned at all. Since it obviously doesn't matter anymore, I'll disclose that the whole operation was just a simple plan to nuke Luganville with BB's to try and put a dent in your 4e's. The end around to the east was just a diversion and maybe a little bait to bring in your carriers, but that didn't seem to work.

Your BB's there came as a bit of a surprise, but after a half day of mulling it over I figured, what the heck, if I can time it right I may bag them and the -17s together. Ah, the pitfalls of 2 day turns. My carriers were supposed to meet up with the battleships and stand off just out of Kate range of efate and that other place north of Noumea (lugamville I planned to be mostly out of service). That way they wouldn't get drawn on to one of those deadly CAP traps you are so good at setting.

Well, the carriers were supposed to cover the battleships and vice versa, but I didn't anticipate you gunning for the carriers, plus of course miscalculating the move rates. It all fell apart from the start, as you saw.

To make it worse, my laptop crashed 3/4 the way through the replay, so i had to watch my carriers get creamed all over again. I was stuck in some weird version of AE hell.

Feel free to copy this into your forum. No doubt I'll be pilloried by the pro JFB's out there :)

Re: naval pilot losses, I don't know how many will be saved from the ground losses, but I suspect it is 50%, since that is the usual survival
rate for ship's captains saved from sinking ships.

I had written off the USN 1st BAT DIV, as an "acceptable" loss when I moved it there several turns ago. There are three good DDs and four CAs plus pretty much all of the crappy and short range Dutch, Australian and British DDs with the force. I assumed it would at best just blunt his BB Force and draw out its ammo for its loss or effective loss due to battle damage. And then we would fight a massive air battle as he tried to finish it off.

As long as he stays away from the Santa Cruz Islands, there are just 17 submarines between him and Rabaul. I ordered the CV fleet back to Pearl as its too far away to catch him.

I would assume the Junyo is also gone but I will keep it as active, if I error in any correlation of forces estimate I want to error on the safe side.

Yes, in the carrier battle off of Fiji. I'm pretty confidante the reports of there loss are accurate now as neither of them have been reported in the carrier battles in the last couple of days nor in my tracking of the KB in the last several turns.

Status: offline 		Well done! He erred somehow in protecting his CVs with all of those surface assets and you definitely took advantage. Nicely played.

A note on pilots. The groups lost at sea on sinking CVs can be bought back and return with their full complement of experts. Odd, I know, but it's true. The Japanese will not ever run out of good pilots if he is careful about training and buying back, where to use the best of them.

Seems AirGriff had two more things go wrong last turn, both in the CBI on the ground. He lost another battle in Rangoon and had his tank forces smashed. The 7th Armored Bde will now press south until it is stopped. (as it withdraws out of theater its been added to the acceptable loss group.

22 July 42 - 27 July 42 Executive Summary

It has been six days from the Battle of Lakatoro, and Allied High Command is still coming to grips with the reality of the total victory. All attempts to locate the fleeing Japanese ships with submarines has been in vain. Allied High command expects some major reorganization Japaneses part and we are now re-evaluating our officialese plans.

There the air war in Rangoon has shifted to night, taking the allies by surprise. Eight or so aircraft were lost on the ground under a massive two day bombing campaign. Rangoon holds after massive repeated assaults, details in a separate post.

Raiding
Sub attack near Davao xAKL Rozan Maru, Shell hits 6, on fire, heavy damage vs SS O24

Seventeen submarines in the area around Rabaul and not one sitting of the BB or Carrier Fleet.

Allied Naval Forces
Fleet of Doom: USN CAR DIV 1 (Hornet), USN CAR DIV 2 (Yorktown), CAR Div 4 (Wasp) Force H (Illustrious and Formidable), Force Z (Repulse and North Carolina) are in route to Peal Harbor for some R&R. The Hornet and Yorktown will also get a ten day upgrade.

CAR DIV 3 (Enterprise): Repairing at Pearl has 32 days in the yard to repair her battle damage.

CAR DIV 5 (Saratoga) and CAR DIV 6 (Lexington) are in route back to Pearl Harbor form Baker Island.

The USN 1st Bat Div (Pennsylvania + 3 DDs): At Noumea waiting the Repair of the Warspite (10 days) and reinforcements in route from Pearl to bring the Bat Div up to the four Battleship Strength. The Maryland [1/3(3)/0] is Making Temporary Repairs and then will move to Peal Harbor to clear the major floatation Damage. The Arizona [30/17(4)/24], Quincy [25/9(8)/6(1)] and two DD are in route to Sydney for repair. The Arizona will need to make for Pearl or Colombo to repair the major floating Damage.

Force X (Revenge, Royal Sovereign, Ramillies): Bombarded Moulemin to great effect but no planes or ship were present. On the way in the Resolution was sunk as only the Buffalo ACU actually flew CAP. Staff Flunky for the RAF is now training Russian Forward Air Controllers in Stalingrad.

Mini-Doom: The small CVE fleet, in two separate taffys has been formed. Currently it comprises the Long Island with 17 Marine F2A-3 Buffalo fighters (speed 16) in one. The second one contains the CL Hermes (speed 25) with 20 Sea Hurricane Ib. Both of these are south are in route to Suva to support landings in the Southwest Pacific.

KB and Mini-KB
Smashed, in the greatest Battleship engagement in history. Assumed to be in route to Rabul for temporary repairs and then to Truk or the main Islands to refit. British shipyards are clearing space now for the Lion Class and the American yards are looking for slips to being work on the Montana Class.

China
He has continued to bombard from the ground and air at Wenchow to work to burn off my supplies and damage the airfield, supplies stand at 1.4K (steady). We also have 32K troops in the max stacking of 40K. The air force has withdrawn for now. The CAP game of cat and mouse is back, two days of fighting favors him by a 2:1 margin but he now has two Oscar ACUs in the mid twenty size on the front. One Sweeping and the other escorting.

His army is also prepping for a 42/43 offensive once Wenchow falls. Moving units to hold the areas he is prepping to attack and protect against any Flanking maneuvers. Targets he is prepping for are: Sian, Wuchow, Changsha and Chenchow.

Burma
The ground offensive continues., details in separate post Intel Monkey shows the 55th Infantry Bde, 33rd Division, 204th Ship Eng Coy, 21st Med FA Bn, 15th Army, 55th Eng Reg, 112th Infantry Reg and 14th Ind. Art. Mortar Bn prepping for Rangoon.

At Rangoon to oppose them I have the 1st Burma Infantry Division, the 17th Indian Infantry Division, three Burma Infantry Bn, three base force Bn, the Burma Corps HQc, 19K of Supplies, Fort 1-29%, two P-40E ACU, and four British fighter ACUs. One British ACU and one American ACU are now flying at night. We have 15 more air frames and the base then we can handle with aviation support but air combat swill reduce this at some point. There are four HDML's to provide bombardment cover. He has twenty-two Land units in Rangoon.

At Mandalay there are 41K of supplies, three Burma Infantry Bn, two base force and Forts 4 - 10%. Three poorly equipped Indian Armored Cav Rgts, the 7th Armored Bde, and the Burma Inf Bde are making their way south after smashing two armored Tank Rgts + one inf Reg on the road to Mandalay. They have caught the retreating forces one hex north of Toungoo and will launch another deliberate attack.

At Port Blair there are four HDML, 1 ACM, 148 mines, 2 Base Forces and the 45th Indian Bde, 38K of Supplies and Fort 3-88%. All land units are 100% prep'd and the leader of the 45ht has been upgraded.

The air force is bombing the two Armored Reg moving north of his and has damaged the air field at Toungoo to 100%.

Operation Apple Jacks
One day late and a dollar short, so it is now a battle of attrition to regain Ndeni. The goal is to turn this into a front where we can bring the same amount or more force into play and drain him of planes, supplies and pilots. I want to see if I can use up my current model airplanes before they cannot be used on the front lines in early 1943.

At Vanikoro is a Port level 1, the Airfield 5-19% and the Fort 3, 14 PT Boats, one ACM, 150 mines and one AGP. The 1st Marine Raider Bn and the 8th Marine Def Bn, 1st US Naval Construction Bn , 13th MAG HQ, 2nd USMC Parachute Bn, 2/7 Commando Bn, 3rd Naval Const Bn, 94th Cst AA Rgt and the Del Monte AAF Base Force are at this location. There is one P-39D ACU, two A-24 ACUs, one F4F-3P ACU, one F2A-2 Buffalo ACU, one F4F-3A Wildcat, one SBC4-Helldiver and one one SB2U-3 Vindicator. Additional Marine Fighter and Dive Bomber ACUs are ready to rotate in or base here as the airfield expands.

Luganville is safe with Forts Level 3, Airfield 7-43% two CD LCUs, one ACM, the 2nd Marine Divion + a lot of friends and 148 mines. If I can come up with the PT boats I will also add some here but this may take a while as I have a bunch of them in the Line Islands. The island has 284 Aviation Support and one Air HQ. four B-17E ACUs, three P-39D ACUs, two P-38E ACUs and one PBY-5 ACU. The bombers are training for Naval attack. At Koumac I have one B-17D ACU, two B-17E ACUs and one LB-30 ACU are training for Naval attack.

In the next 30 days or sooner the following will occur to support the advance on Ndeni in Phase 2:
1) The medium range bombers from Pago Pago will deploy to Lugnaville to smash the airfields or Ports that are built on Ndeni, as airfield space is created.
2) The 1st Marine Division, 641st Towed TD Bn, 1 USMC Parachute BN and one FA BN that are now prepping for Ndeni (50% and counting) based at Suva.
3) A trickle down of fighters to the four Marine ACUs at Pago Pago has started. As ACUs with the F2A-2 Buffalo's are filled out they will be added to the air war over the Santa Cruz Islands.
4) There are two US 25 Fighter ACU's located at Suva and Pago Pago that can be rotated in as needed for air cover --- along with four 25 Fighter ACU's located at Noumea.

The needed lift is in place in Suva, waiting for the KB to withdraw for this operation to get the green light.

Operation Honeycomb
The 147th Sep Inf Reg and the 318th Base Group hold Baker Island. One aviation Eng Bn is in route to the island, once this lands the operation will be complete.

Operation Mr. T
The retaking of the Ellice Islands: Vaitupu and Funafuti. Allied high command wants to make sure we keep the pressure on him from both the Southwest and Central Pacific. I think I am going to fall into a very historical Left-Right attack along the MacArthur and Nimitz lines of advance.

From Nadi the 4 FA Bn, 32nd Infantry Div and the 192nd Tank Bn will attack Funafuti, preparation in the mid 80’s. The 754th Tank Bn, Americal Inf Div and the 205th FA Bn will attack from Koumac and take Vaitupu - ~50% prepped and climbing.

Operation Cookie-Crisp
The landing at Tabiteuea and Tarawa. Forces will stage from Pearl will take these islands. At this point it is just planning and prepping. I don’t expect to be able to do this until all the carriers have completed their upgrades.

For Tabiteuea the 27th Infantry Division, the 181st FA Bn, 763rd Tank Bn, 97th Cst AA Rgt, 145 FA Bn,and the 34th Cmbt Eng Rgt are all prepping for this in the low-80s {most of them}. The 3rd Marine Division will join them once done in the NOPAC.

For Tarawa the 24th Infantry Division (2/3 Restricted), 134th Combat Engr Bn, 198th FA Bn, 110th Cmbt Engr Bn, 223rd FA Bn, 40th Infantry Division and the 762nd Tank B are all prepping in the mid-20’s to the mid-70's.

Operation Super Golden Crisp
Given he now controls Attu as of June 20th 1942, I have decided on an operation to evict him as quickly as possible before the winter sets in. The main purpose of this is more maskirovka than anything else. I want AirGriff to feel threatened in the north in the hopes he starts diverting resources and units to the defensive line in the Kurile's.

The 3rd Marine Division and 3rs Pioneer Bn are in Seattle and are prepping for the landing. I may need to scrounge up some additional forces depending on what we find that is guarding the base. The landing ships from Christmas Island are now in-route to pick-up the forces in Seattle. The Fleet of Doom will support the landing from Pearl Harbor to make as much noise as possible.

1. At Anchorage we have one B-17E ACU, one B-25B ACU and one C-47 ACU.

First off Thanks BBfanboy for all your input and advice, its helped explain a lot of things I did not understand or understood incorrectly.

My hope is he has to pause to recover disabled squads and move supply forward. So far I have seen just the one massive supply convoy several weeks ago. Unless I missed a convoy all his other supply has come from overland routes. Allied High Command hopes his supply is burning faster than it comes in due to the following:

1) With the daily bombardments and attacks at Rangoon.
2) Allied Daily Bombarments at Toungoo. The airfield is never less than 80%, when damage goes over 80% we bomb the 16th Infantry Regiment at the base.
3) The Allied Armored thrust south from Mandalay hitting his smashed recon forces.
4) Recovery of disabled squads
5) Four massive naval bombardments at Moulmein.
6) Daily Air attacks on the Japaneses Armored forces that dashed to try and take Mandalay.

The Armored forces will pause for two - four days to drop some fatigue (mid 20's) and disruption (9). I don't want to pause but I don't see much of a choice.

There in one Indian BDE, Art Reg and minor forces in route to Prome from Akyab, these will be used to extract the forces once I am kicked out of Rangoon. I have thought about unleashing the Allied Land Forces I have in the area but I don't think its a good idea. Trying to supply the 6th and 7th Aus Inf Divisions, (Chittagong), 20th Ind Inf Division (Imphal) and the 7th Ind Inf Division (Kohima) once they cross into India could be done but only from the sea. If I lose Rangoon before they get there or he commits his intact surface forces I would be hard pressed to keep the needed supply lines open.

Or should I just go for it?

Status: offline 		Difficult decision because you are so close to having enough to push back - but it is only July 1942 and you are just
beginning to get decent units into India that can secure that country and begin the march to Burma. Your job in Burma
is to delay and bleed him, while not losing too much yourself - British pools are shallow!
I think your plan to make a fighting withdrawal makes the most sense - but many aggressive players have proved me wrong
in similar situations!

There the air war in Rangoon has shifted to night, as there is now one US and one British ACU flying at night no damage is taken and one bomber is shot down. Going to have to look into how I should handle this as I don't really get many night fighters until 1944.

Raiding
No activity of note.

Allied Naval Forces
Fleet of Doom: USN CAR DIV 1 (Hornet), USN CAR DIV 2 (Yorktown), CAR Div 4 (Wasp) Force H (Illustrious and Formidable), Force Z (Repulse and North Carolina) are in route to Peal Harbor for some R&R. The Hornet and Yorktown will also get a ten day upgrade.

CAR DIV 3 (Enterprise): Repairing at Pearl has 32 days in the yard to repair her battle damage.

CAR DIV 5 (Saratoga) and CAR DIV 6 (Lexington) are in route back to Pearl Harbor form Baker Island.

The USN 1st Bat Div (Pennsylvania + 3 DDs): At Noumea waiting the Repair of the Warspite (8 days) and reinforcements in route from Pearl to bring the Bat Div up to the four Battleship Strength. The Maryland [1/3(3)/0] is Making Temporary Repairs and then will move to Peal Harbor to clear the major floatation Damage. The Arizona [30/17(4)/24], Quincy [25/9(8)/6(1)] and two DD are in route to Sydney for repair. The Arizona will need to make for Pearl or Colombo to repair the major floating Damage.

Force X (Revenge, Royal Sovereign, Ramillies): in route back to Colombo.

Mini-Doom: The small CVE fleet, in two separate taffys has been formed. Currently it comprises the Long Island with 17 Marine F2A-3 Buffalo fighters (speed 16) in one. The second one contains the CL Hermes (speed 25) with 20 Sea Hurricane Ib. Both of these are south are in route to Suva to support landings in the Southwest Pacific.

KB and Mini-KB
Assumed to be repairing at Rabaul/Truk.

China
He has continued to bombard from the ground and air at Wenchow to work to burn off my supplies and damage the airfield, supplies stand at 1.4K (steady). We also have 32K troops in the max stacking of 40K. My air force has withdrawn for now.

His army is also prepping for a 42/43 offensive once Wenchow falls. Moving units to hold the areas he is prepping to attack and protect against any Flanking maneuvers. Targets he is prepping for are: Sian, Wuchow, Changsha and Chenchow.

Burma
The ground offensive continues with two days of bombardments. Intel Monkey shows the 55th Infantry Bde, 33rd Division, 204th Ship Eng Coy, 21st Med FA Bn,15th Army, 55th Eng Reg, 112th Infantry Reg and 14th Ind. Art. Mortar Bn prepping for Rangoon.

At Rangoon to oppose them I have the 1st Burma Infantry Division, the 17th Indian Infantry Division, three Burma Infantry Bn, three base force Bn, the Burma Corps HQc, 17K of Supplies, Fort 2-16%, two P-40E ACU, and three British fighter ACUs. One British ACU and one American ACU are now flying at night. We have 09 more air frames and the base then we can handle with aviation support but air combat swill reduce this at some point. There are four HDML's to provide bombardment cover. He has twenty-two Land units in Rangoon.

At Mandalay there are 41K of supplies, three Burma Infantry Bn, two base force and Forts 4 - 11%. Three poorly equipped Indian Armored Cav Rgts, the 7th Armored Bde, and the Burma Inf Bde are making their way south after smashing two armored Tank Rgts + one inf Reg on the road to Mandalay. They have caught the retreating forces one hex north of Toungoo but will pause for a turn or two to regroup.

At Port Blair there are four HDML, 1 ACM, 148 mines, 2 Base Forces and the 45th Indian Bde, 38K of Supplies and Fort 3-88%. All land units are 100% prep'd and the leader of the 45ht has been upgraded.

The air force is bombing the two Armored Reg moving north of his and has damaged the air field at Toungoo to 80%.

Operation Apple Jacks
One day late and a dollar short, so it is now a battle of attrition to regain Ndeni. The goal is to turn this into a front where we can bring the same amount or more force into play and drain him of planes, supplies and pilots. I want to see if I can use up my current model airplanes before they cannot be used on the front lines in early 1943.

At Vanikoro is a Port level 1, the Airfield 5-26% and the Fort 3, 14 PT Boats, one ACM, 150 mines and one AGP. The 1st Marine Raider Bn and the 8th Marine Def Bn, 1st US Naval Construction Bn , 13th MAG HQ, 2nd USMC Parachute Bn, 2/7 Commando Bn, 3rd Naval Const Bn, 94th Cst AA Rgt and the Del Monte AAF Base Force are at this location. There is one P-39D ACU, two A-24 ACUs, one F4F-3P ACU, one F2A-2 Buffalo ACU, one F4F-3A Wildcat, one SBC4-Helldiver and one one SB2U-3 Vindicator. Additional Marine Fighter and Dive Bomber ACUs are ready to rotate in or base here as the airfield expands.
