Another one of my madder creations: it’s a hypothetical coup in the capital of an unnamed Central American country, one week in six hour turns, 1968, variable Ruling Party vs variable Revolutionary forces, both using US 1950s and 60s equipment: land, sea and air forces. PO for both sides. Uses the Opart 3XBb exe. which addresses the defensive and AA bugs that crept in with the 3.4 patch, toolarge to include here but you can download from this site. If you do take a look and want to play the PO, remember - there are reminders - to choose which regiments are to revolt using the Theatre Option during the Revolutionaries' Turn One, then set the Computer Player to whichever side you want.

Great scenario, I have just had a look and if you would like to have it play tested in a PBEM game, I am up for either side albeit I'd like to have something similar on a larger scale - something between that project "Contra Drive" and "Revisionist War 1937" - I haven't been able to try either of the two, as far as I can remember the first one has never been finished. Still your scenario is a great jump off point for something like that, a hypothetical study of a revolutionary overthrow of Reaganomical government in a banana republic.

Cheers, I've playtested it several times as both sides against the PO, with different combination of units revolting, and can always win or draw at the worst. It's definitely bug-free. My experience is that any TOAW scenario that tries to cover anything other than two opponents on either side of the map has to be played PBEM or hotseat against another player, as the poor old PO finds it almost impossible to react to units hopping around its flanks or rear. Adding airmobile or naval landings just confuses it even more. And this is a particularly complex scenario. Very happy to give you a game if you want to try it out but, if you're really looking for something different from this, then perhaps best to leave it. I did look around at some real-life coups, but couldn't find any that would make a balanced game, or for which there is sufficient information for decent ORBATs, so this is a bit of a fantasy game, albeit without dragons or wizards. If you are keen do get in touch on markterencedotstevensatntlworlddotcom, if not then good luck if you do try to develop your own scenario. If you want to copy anything from this one - the Events took some thinking about - then feel free.

Thanks for the answer and the offer, it's definitely tempting and I think I'll be willing to try it out, but since I am having my hands full and getting back to work in just under two weeks now I need to reconsider that. I'll get in touch with you if make up my mind and decide to go for that. The scenario is very tempting and I understand all the reasoning you have made.
