Another Caribbean scenario, but this time it's 1989 and the Soviets have a convoy headed towards Nicaragua and you have to stop them.

Please let me know what you think. Comments, suggestions, etc. including things like the style of the orders, how well Events work, etc. are all welcome. Thanks!

Nice mission!

I made a A-7 Flyby very early to ID them, got shot at, and from then on they were fair game. I tried to sneak with my SAG around them, radars off, to get into missile range undetected, which partly worked.
Unfortunately my sub was detected while stalking the warships, and was sunk later in another attempt.
Mavericks are not the best option in that moderate rain, they had to get quite close.
I wonder if Radars off is the best option for the Soviets, they never saw some of my attacks coming until it was to late.

All sides are still playable!

Very fun scenario! Used the air support and sub to take out the dangerous ships in the soviet SAG then my SAG flattened the relatively defenseless ships.

First run through not going well - Air attack and TASMs a bit of a disaster - on the good side the Slava has expended a lot of missiles

Did not that the Civilian Container ship ' Northern Aquarius does not appear to have a course, just keep circling.

A P-3 or two may be helpful and not unrealistic, even if they have to come in from Jacksonville with a Mar Recon loadout.  A couple F-4 Wild Weasels would be fun.

Going in for the knife fight, sub heading into the fray at Max speed, I'm glad that that part of the Carib is deep

I ran this one, wish I had kept the AAR, but here is the out line.

********************SPOILER ALERT*******************************

I lost 2x A-7's and 1 SH-2. I positioned my SAG in the path of the oncoming convoy, and my sub way down south about 60 miles from the coast. While he was waiting he picked up what turned out to be a Victor II and attempted to engage without any luck. Meanwhile, I buzzed the convoy with a single A-A armed A-7 and one of my SH-2 trying to ID ships. Didn't notice the weather, have to be below the clouds (2000 feet) to get a good visual. One of the soviet ships shot my Helo out of the sky and I set my Corsair to run to the waiting tanker. I then ordered 2 more A-7s which were loitering near the tanker to engage the convoy at low level (1000 feet). They got their shots off but were destroyed on egress. I was lucky, as the ship I randomly chose to attack was the Sovremeny. It was heavily damaged and later sank. Tense minutes passed as I decided what to do next. As I am about to launch an attack, I get an unknown sub contact within 20 miles of the SAG. My Helos on ASW patrol investigate and classify as an SSGN. I engaged and destroyed this threat, then launched a limited TASM and Harpoon strike on the Slava. She defeated this attack and launched her missiles back at my SAG. These were defeated but it was a close thing. I then launched all but 4 Harpoons left back at her, total of 18 missiles. She was hit several times and sunk. It was then a simple matter of using the remaining air power to hit everything that would radiate and destroying the merchants with gun fire. Final score was 1050 Triumph.

The scenario seemed to run well, although I got significant slowing about 3 hours into it, which lasted for about 3 hours of in-game time. I am not sure why. In any case, the fact that the Soviets seem to be running silent really hurts them. My A-7 strike of 2 aircraft was able to fly over the Slava and drop 500 lb. bombs on it without any defensive fire.

New version uploaded. I've got the Slava on active sensors now...and there are now two P-3s at the base in Panama, although the only loadout available is Maritime Patrol. I hope that does not make it too easy to find the convoy.

Let me know how this version plays. Thanks. (If you don't hear from me for a few days, I'm going to be out of town, taking my daughter back to college, and I may not have Internet access until I get back to Michigan on Friday.)

Played V2.0.

The MPA did not make the convoy any easier to find. However it did allow much more definition, to the point I was able to pick out a 'Sprint-Drift' escort which I found out to be a Krivak as a Mk-82 was going into her hull unfortunately I got greedy and tried to unload 4 remaining bombs into a merchant - Splash 2 Corsairs

I launched the TASM strike at the merchants this time, knowing that the Slava could defeat the strike I was trying to get her to fire more missiles at crossing targets and who knows - I might get lucky. Two Tomahawks got through and sank a Merchant. The Incoming Sandbox's were shot down with no real issue.

My sub was located within RBU range of the Slava, I was trying to set up a shot at the Slava and Sovremenny at the same time - that didn't go so well. I can confirm that the RBU's work, first time I have been hit by them and they destroyed a torpedo tube a second or two after I launched a full spread at the Slava, unfortunately a Torp got me as I was sprinting away from the sinking Slava.

From there about 12 Harpoons into the Sovremenny the rest of the AC to take out the Merchants. A Fleet Oiler was still afloat when the End Game message came up. Triumph 1000 Pts.

Good little game. I did note (thanks to the P-3) that the convoy was floundering around a bit, it seemed direction-less. Have attached a screenshot as an example.

Played V2.

Nice little scen. Located convoy easily with P3 (which was shot down without warning as it was overflying the convoy). Steered the TF to the convoy, tracking it with second Orion. Shot down their ASW helos with Corsairs. Was performing ASW around my TF and got attacked by the sub, located the firing position and sent helos to hunt her down. Salvos happened, my TF survived, Sovremenyy was down. Sturgeon sunk both Slava and Krivak after that. Rest was piece of cake. Lost two Corsairs to IR Maverick experimentation (wasn't of any use, got caught by their radars before getting IR lock). Other two were lost due to my poor refueling practices Soviets killed the whale, bastards.

I don't see any problems with this scen. Thumbs up!

Any more comments or suggestions, or is it ready to be submitted to the Community Scenario Pack? Thanks.

All worked well, scored 1025 Triumph, the sub did a fair amount of damage, but missed a shot on the Slava. This was in the end finished off by Harpoons, the main bulk has to be by gunfire.
