I think we feel asleep again. I sent back my first turn to Cribtop two days ago. Still haven't gotten it back yet. The forum knows what happened per John 3rd's and my phone call yesterday, but I don't.

Bound to be some "teething problems" in such a big mod. The gallery must be patient while these are solved. Easy for us - we do not have our pixeltruppen at risk!

Sunk on 12/7/41: BB California, 2 PT, 5 subs (5 more highly damaged at Manila), DMS, AM, AS.

What would you do??
Cribtop went ALL in on port attack on Manila. He left the AFs on Luzon alone. Thus, I have 3 groups of P-40Es and one of Bs. In BTS, you can use PP to buy out the American fighters here. Allies start with 300 PP and get 60 per day. I have 360 to use. Since BTS has RA deployment, for the most part, I have 3 A-24 Banshee that need time to recover and get some training at Darwin. Would you buy out some fighters from Luzon?? If so, how many?? Where would they go??

Do those squadrons get withdrawn in Spring-Summer 1942?

Some of those P40s have a bomb, I think one squadron if I recall. I have jumped it somewhere safe, trained for a week or so depending upon situation, and then used it in strafing naval attacks as a surprise!

That result is a big win in my book.

Expect sweeps to catch your fighters this turn. I'd probably move the fighters to Bataan and wait a turn for CAP wars with better odds. What did he do in DEI - mersing?

POW & R? These assets wreak havoc if they are still around after D.

Any thoughts on surface counterpulsing in DEI and where to use the CV's for ambush? Or are you thinking a Kurils invasion?

I would wait with buying them out. They can easily hide on PI bases for now while training. PPs will be premium and you won´t have much use for fighters until he stops sweeping and starts bombing.

Then again I think I remember in RA Jap pilot quality is lowered. Perhaps they can even stand up to Sweeps in a couple of weeks of training.

The Es carry bombs the Bs don't. They all withdraw in summer, but they are still worth the cost to get the use of them for that short duration in a theater where no fighters exist....OZ.

Look at what Mr. Kane did against Jocke by exploiting the fact that there are zero fighters in OZ in the early days of the war.

For that very reason strat bombing in Oz fro VPs shouldn't be allowed in the first six months. Too much like easy mode for Japan the way it is currently structured.

However, the presence of a fighter group, no matter how undertrained, is better than none.

Your airpower is significantly augmented. you must be thinking about one or more CV ambushes.

Perhaps I should ask the question another way. What will your early strategy be?

Keep my carriers afloat!!

Enterprise and Lexington are headed south to meet Scouting TF and have CVL Jacksonville joining one of them. Plans are to have a CVL (and hybrid) added to each American CV TF. I have a American Inf Rgt that starts at Sacramento headed for San Fran prepping for Canton Island. Two regiments of 2nd Marine Division and some engineers (BF and Construction) are at or headed for San Diego to go to Christmas Island. Want to make at least some effort to secure my SLOC through this area to SoPac. Meanwhile, Saratoga with escorts will head for Aleutians. Once KB 1 & 2 leave Hawaii, a SC TF with two CLs and some DDS will headed north. Yorktown and CVL King's Mountain come in at end of December. So, in early January, I hope to have the Allied "Death Star" with 4 CVs and 4 CVLs in SoPac or beyond.

Meanwhile, CVL Charlotte is headed NW from Darwin to get close enough Soerabaja to get my SBD-1 there to upgrade to -2 (greater range). Once Hermes is repaired they will head south to form small CV TF.

I have the extra CL Dallas and CA Chicago in lower Philippines area and SRA. However, with the latest version of DBB OOB done by Symon/JWE, there are less Dutch Aviation Support. I'll be more aggressive as Allies as i have more, but will need to see how aggressive Cribtop is.

Clarification:

US Hybrids are CLV: think CL PLUS V for the heavier then air.
Aust/NZ Hybrids are CAV: 8" Guns AND TTs and V for the...

I have been using my pair of CAV in Treaty Mod vs Lew and tey are fun little ships with tiny air groups that can cause a weeeee bit of problem from time-to-time. Their 15 Zero Fighter complement has been their biggest asset to this point.

Sunk: 6 PT, AV Langley, AVD, AG, 3 xAPs, 5 xAKs, 10 xAKLs - "Thundering Herd" got hit pretty hard by subs and 3 CA & 4 DDs in NW corner of Celebes Sea between Jolo and Tarakan.

Orders were given to CL Boise & Dallas plus 4 DDs AND CA Houston & Chicago and 4 DDs from Balikpapan to go to FULL SPEED to the hexes were CA Nachi, Myoko, Haguro & 4 DDs were last turn. Hope to give Cribtop at least a bloody nose and escape before KB3 can get to them. Meanwhile, CL Durban & Dragon are just south of Singkawang were ordered to Miri at Full Speed where transports are two hexes north of the base. Force Z will slide down to Semerang from Batavia.

Over at Pearl, 4 subs will head north to the western Aleutians bases to act as trip wires. Two Brooklyn Class CLs, Phoenix & Honolulu and 6 DDs head due east before they head to Alaska while two Helena Class CLs, Helena & Archorage (new BTS ship) with 6 DDs head slightly SE before headed south towards Line Islands. Fast support ships head SE and will end up in Society Islands.

There are NO transports off Luzon!! Where are 48 ID and 65th Bde?? My PBYs from Bataan don't see any around Luzon, only warships. "Spidey Senses" are going off without Cribtop telling me he is experimenting.

Large number of TFs 3 to 4 hexes slightly north of east off Kuantan. I suspect an invasion of Mersing in the next day or two.

That's pretty odd force and attack deployment. I wonder what Cribtop is up to? I am curious if Fortress Palembang might be in order.

Only got Combat Replay back from Cribtop late last night. He reports it was "bloody." I'll wait to I get the game file before I view it.
