Summary of Operations 3/15/44 Southwest Pacific: Current status of Port Moresby base – supply on hand 765K, fuel 47K. Current status of Terapo base – 47K supply on hand, airfield service damage 3, runway damage 8. Small amount of supply was air transported into Terapo from NE Australia bases. Air transport into Terapo from Australia will continue on a modest level using available capacity from airfields at NE Australian bases (priority for airfield capacity at these bases is reserved for night bombing raids over New Guinea). Landing craft TF unloads supply cargo in Terapo with supply cargo, attacked by continued Jap LBA naval air strikes supported by fighter sweeps. Three Jap P1Y1 Frances bombers reported destroyed (all ops). P-38 fighters in the actions below were flying LRCAP from airfields in NE Australia using drop tanks – not a preferred method of CAP fighter coverage.
