Now is the time to pick up the many games and expansions of this great franchise! The sale ends this Monday, 10am PST.

Shogun: Total War (2000) and Medieval: Total War (2002), the first two in this franchise are not for sale.

Super prices for sure - especially if one hasn't tried any of the total war games.

Shogun 2 and Napoleon are two I'd recommend.

Empire is pretty good too.

And now for the statement that may get me pilloried.

I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS ROME 2 IS READY FOR PRIME TIME!

Too bad it isn't on sale for all you that don't have it yet though.

I bought TW Naponelon compete package for less than $8 bucks! Did they fix TW Rome II yet?

If you buy the "Total War Master Collection" you wind up paying about $25.00 for Total War: Rome II (I'm sure you have most of the games in the collection), for someone that does not have any of the Total War franchise, it's a great deal ! And, the reviews are 11,000 positive to 4,000 negative (for Total War: Rome II)...sounds like a pretty damn good game to me!

As with all TW games, mods make them so much better.

At those prices I would snap them up - if I hadn't paid full price already

Oh well - got my monies worth out of Rome I (and Empire to a slightly lesser extent) that's for sure

Sorry to hear that! Contact Steam, click Help Menu, Steam Support, fill out what is necessary and be patient, they will help you.

No it won't Steam as a reputation of not doing anything when this happens.

i already own the whole collection above, got it in another steam sale at 70% off the whole lot so was very good value tbh...

my experience with steam support is very good, i lost my login details, got a few things wrong, even though my username and password was correct they just wouldn't work for me, reset it a few times and in the end didn't know which one was in use over time so contacted support, tbh they was great, all i need was so info like one game purchase etc, date time and other details and they sorted me out with a reset for me, now it locked to a certain setup and has the built in protection setup as well, as steams been updated since i had my problem and i don't think it could happen again like it did before...

never needed support from here with game purchases but looking at forum replies it looks like support is as good if not better, so thumbs up to both from me

with steam having the amount of users it has, it must be doing something right, heres the stats bit,

7,033,142 individual users peak login over 24hrs was the record this year, as of a few hours ago 4,498,541 are logged in playing.. so for me that speaks for itself, there's bound to be a few errors, but when in doubt contact them, same as here and wait for them to get back to you and help, good luck, not that you need it her or there, as they are there to help as thats why both here and there have the support and clients they do have

Shogun 2, particularly Fall of the Samurai and Napoleon are the two better TW games with the more modern mechanics, and I'd recommend them up and down. Rome and Medieval also hold up well if you need to be in that timeframe, but of course are that much older.

Unfortunately I have very little good to say about Empire and Rome 2

I play Rome2, because of free weekend, but won't buy it until heavily discounted and bundled with DLCs.
Imho games are way overpriced as it is, and publishers are silly, because if I have 100 EUR a month to spend on games, I could buy 10 games for 10 EUR or 1 for 55 EUR, so if prices dropped more games would be bought by people overall. Everyone has budget constraints, even if monthly game budget is 1000 EUR.

Btw Matrix/Slitherine looks like Apple as they are with pricing, and they don't give people much chance to become wargame grognards. And they say it's because the market is niche (sic!). Well, you make it niche with pricing like that....

it's not to your taste then, as cr@p is mentioned i'm not sure you meant it tbh, as it's not perfect i'll agree with you, but many still play it, i myself being one of them, but not to the extent of others in the series either tbh

rome 1 with mods for me is better, rome 2 has better graphics but not so good game play atm, but it has got better since release, although the dlc don't make up for it's shortcomings either imo

but no matter which side of the fence you're on, they will never please everyone with every title, same with shogun, some hated it some loved it, but none are cr@p tbh

Empire with mods is great, one of the better titles, without mods it's so so and for me not so playable or enjoyable, but time spent on it, look at the steam stats page, you will get some strange results with time spent playing each title thats mentioned in this thread, yes dates make most of the difference for some game releases etc, but don't count for all the numbers
