Hello:

I am a Chinese player. Now we found a team to translate this game to Chinese. There are a lot of Chinese players who want to play this game, but the language is a big problem for them. So we want to translate this game to Chinese. We guarantee we will not do this for any commercial purpose. We just want to let more Chinese players can play this game (I prefer to think it's a simulator ) without language problem.

We want to know if develope team can authorize us to translate this game? We will do this for free and submit all materials. We hope develope team can help us. Like UI, we need develop team's help so that we can translate it. Also we want when we finish translation job, develope team can release a multi-language version through steam.

Also we need some people can help us to explain some professional words. There are few data about them. If you want to help us, please send private message to me. We will appreciate your help.

Thank you very much.

IN China some university students play the game. I have seen the manual translated in Chinese, with some extra terms added to explain things. Most university students have enough English ability to be able to play the game. They do not however get it from matrix games, they get it from a Russian web site or from a local software and dvd shop for about 1-1.50 USD

Guys, good luck to that translation project.

Deviating from the topic, I want to invite any Chinese (as well as other nationalities of course) who is interested in this game and also shares interest to topics connected to modern warfare, global conflicts, politics and history to visit the community of Baloogan. Baloogan has put up a chat here where you may find discussion partners around the clock for questions regarding Command and also actual global conflict developments. Unfortunately we don't have asian people there yet. Everybody adds something. We are a little UNO assembly already sometimes

I think the team would agree one of the first hints that we did ok was seeing our game torrented the first time

Funny, that's how I feel also. I really don't think you have lost many sales. Most people who torrent it aren't going to buy it.

But it would make me hesitate to invest any money in a language conversion.

That's the thing Were discussing localization but if it doesn't yield a return in either dollars or some improvement in the game its a complete waste of time.

To sell the game legally in China, (which is different from reality), you need approval from the government, the same goes with books and films. You would have to delete any scenarios that does not show China in a positive light. You could not mention historical events that never happened in June of 89 or question matters of geography. A few years ago the government banned some computer and video games because they it showed China in a negative light.

We haven't looked into this yet but getting into a store/market is only a great thing for a game.

A lot of things have changed now.

Before, we do not have any way to buy genuine game. You know there are a lot of games will not sell game DVD in China. So if we want to buy genuine game, we can only tell some people who stay in abroad to buy this game and send it to us. This is a very expensive way for us. After steam came out, we can buy digital version through the steam. But at first, steam did not support Chinese Debit card or Credit card. You should know at that time, only few people have international credit card. Even now, most of Chinese university students only have debit card. Without international credit card, they cannot buy game from steam. Maybe in 2010, steam supported Alipay, you can consider it is Chinese paypal, then we could buy games from steam through an official way.

Now you should notice more and more Chinese players start to buy games through the steam. Even if there are still a lot of players who download pirated games, players who buy genuine games are increasing. Nowadays, a lot of my friends start to buy games from steam. They want to play multi player game or play with friends. Multi-player game mode has became more important than before and this is the most important reason for people to buy genuine game. Time has changed, more and more Chinese players will buy genuine games. Your opinion has been out of date.

I want to translate this game because I want to play Chinese version. I know develop team do not have enough ability to translate this game, so my teammates and I want to translate this game by ourselves. We have bought this game, we just want to make this game better and let more Chinese can play this game too. We do this not for pirated game. Because we bought this game, we can submit our suggestions or we can do what we can do to make this game better. That's all. Nothing is related to pirated game.

At last, we still can buy from steam. And steam has announced it will start its business in China officially. In fact, there are already 24 servers in China now and we can buy game through it. We can buy game through the it and develop team can sell game through it, it is the most important thing for both of us.
