Has anybody else had problems with TF numbers going missing? I have checked the on screen and off screen TF’s (or whatever they’re properly called) and for the last couple of game weeks TF 2 has not been available. Last turn TF 3 merged with another TF and not it’s not available this turn. Any ideas what’s going on?

When you create a Task Force, the computer assigns it a number. Early in the game, the numbers will mostly be in order. But, once you disband a TF, the number is no longer in use, and therefore is not listed.

At some point, when you create another new TF, or the computer does it for Auto Subs or Auto Convoy, numbers 2 and 3 will again be used.

TF numbers are shared by both sides (meaning you will only have one TF1, one TF2, etc.) If you don't see a TF number on your side, and it's a lower number, then that means the other side already has a TF with that number. It's first come, first served, but as Japan plays first, they created TF3 in your example before you could.

I didn't know that both sides shared TF numbers so I've already learned something new for the day. I was afraid that something was going wrong with the program or my computer. I'm not running auto convoys or auto subs.

Thanks guys,
slane

Let's be certain you are doing this right in the first place.

1.  You have pressed the "T" to bring up the existing task force summary screen.  The default screen which appears is for on map TFs
2.  On the existing task force summary screen you have the following filters on:

(a) at the top of the screen, the all TF filter is on
(b) at the bottom of the screen, the human/computer/computer CS/Auto Convoy toggles are on

3.  Now toggle on the "Show Off Map TFs" which is at bottom right.

4.  Confirm that on neither the on map and off map existing TFs screens, TF 2 is not in use.  Once confirmed it is not in existence exit and create any type of TF.  Create two new TFs if TF number 1 is also not in existence.
