I found another apparent anomaly.

The Papuan Infantry Battalion has 30 Papuan Infantry Squads that apparently have no value as infantry squads.

The unit has zero AV and all 690 stacking points are listed as "other" rather than front line or second line infantry types under the squad types listing near the top.

Sorry no screenshot today.

I realize the locally raised militia probably doesn't have much value, but surely it is above zero.

This must be another LCU glitch.

It is the same thing as listed earlier. John (JWE/Symon) said that these are scouts who upgrade to have Assault Value. They start as a unit but have no AV.

Michael should get me the BTS files back pretty soon. When that happens I shall Post them and put notification here.

Will also send the RA fi;les so he can do the same thing with that Mod.

Sorry Guys,

I haven't kept up with the entire thread and missed the discussion of the Papuan Infantry Battalion.

I appreciate Symons desire to make things more realistic, but it should be done in the context of game functions.
Basically it appears the unit has been made worthless in game terms.
There is no game function of scouting a hexside. And while I can appreciate that they would likely dissolve if ordered to attack, I imagine they would fight for their lives if attacked.

I don't understand how the level of historical accuracy Symon is going for can be reflected in game terms.

This is supposed to be a fun game, right? Even if you are getting beaten back as the allies in the first couple of months, there are little victories or limited chances to stem the tide, right? Well, not with this mod. Hate to say it, but it is borked.

One month in, and the Japanese players are going where they want with overwhelming land, air, and naval superiority. Why not just say if Yamato got everything he wanted the Japanese would win hands down and be done with it?

This is turning into a vast waste of time. Try to run as the Allies and the Japanese, with the carriers spread out and not going towards PH run rampant over everything. There is not chance to do anything to stem the tide. It is the first week of January and they are already invading Cylon. With the garrison requirements doubled in India, there is no chance to even try to build up anything. There isn't enough on Cylon to do the garrison requirements and still defend against three divisions landing with a full complement of artillery, air HQ and air support units.

P.S. we are running the RA scenario 50 from the RA mod web site.

Which Mod? Treaty? Reluctant Admiral? Between the Storms?

In Between the Storms, Michael seems to be doing excellent versus Cribtop.

Lew and I's Treaty Mod campaign was quite challenging where he had administered several defeats on my forces.

Who is your opponent?

RA is the hardest to play as Allies against. It is pretty unforgiving.

Have you taken advantage of your additions in the Mod? Started the conversions?

Not much you can do against this early of an invasion of Ceylon regardless of what mod you are playing. I take it Malaya was captured quickly and some of those forces are headed to Ceylon and maybe India. "Rule of Thumb" as Allies for me is both the 40th and 41st American IDs head for Cape Town to await PP before going to India. Some of the larger 155mm FA go, two of the DB groups go, maybe one or two Marine CD, a few AA as you will need them. I try to spend PP when they come into Colombo, but get the large AA off Ceylon and into India. For air groups, the 51st PG goes, but they wait a few weeks to allow me to place the old P-26 and P-35 in some air groups to get the P-38s out in the 51st. A slow, but steady build up of India happens and I always expect India to be invaded. You cannot do much now, but devote almost all your PP to get stuff to India.

Good Luck!!

What conversions do recommend doing? I know I can convert some of the AOs to CVEs but do they Allies have the planes to put on the decks?

The AOs make for good conversions but hurt your refueling. There are two great choices with Hammonsport and other AKV. The Tangier class also converts to CVE. I do believe everything takes just six months of time.

Make sure to follow Michael's advice and USE your Training Command on the West Coast. That addition REALLY impacts your pilot situation.

Duplicated base in Scen 50 current file.

Oro Bay at 100, 130 in Papua New Guinea is listed as both ID 987 and 994. The map shows two bases located in the hex.

I am at the end of Dec 41 in RA PBEM 2 day turns - John I can send you a turn from time to time for evaluation?
Japan does feel very strong or should I say the allies very weak(loads of restricted units and no pp)but quite a few units are now arriving. We will see how it goes and report more later.
One thing the PH raid was very poor for Japan but he did sink a few subs in Manila ( we allowed CV aircraft strikes on ports).

The update WAS due out a while ago but there seems to be a Tennessee issue in connectivity right now. Probably due to his advanced AGE...

Minor loadout detail. G8N cannot carry 16x250kg bombload. 4000kg load is only acheivable as 2x2000kg bombs, though I've never been able to find out anything about these bombs(they appear on the loadout chart and nowhere else). 2x1500kg, 8x250kg, 3x800kg are the max bombload for this aircraft. The reason IIRC is due to bay dimensions. The bay isn't long enough to fit the 800kg tip to tail, so two are carried in one row and one in the center. I don't know about the specific reasons for the 250kg's restrictions, but it probably amounts to the same at the core.

I didn't mess with the bombload of Miss RITA. It is the same as the stock version...

OK. The updates are complete.

Change List:
050 Reluctant Admiral
---Reduced by 50 the following India Garrison Requirements: Bombay, Calcutta, Dehli, and Karachi.
---Added 500 Garrison Points to Manchuria, Occupied China, and China
---Further crippled US Economy to about 66% of normal Scen 1 start

055 Between the Storms
** All of the above**
---Reduced Japanese Plane starting stockpiles for Zero, Val, and kate to better reflect the all-out effort made to have modern planes on CV/CVL/CAV on Dec 7th.
---Added Japanese Planes to starting stockpiles for Dave, Alf, and Pete reflecting the increased Jake production and transfer over to that plane type from the older planes.
---Moved new CAs (Hirado-Class: Hirado and Suzuka) from Cam Rahn Bay to KB-1 to add a few more escorts to the PH Strike Force

Am uploading the files to the RA Site now.
