Hi CV60,

Yeah - I'm pretty new around here a but let me take a look at what's involved... It's seems you've been working on projects of epic proportions - and - Command wouldn't be anywhere near as enjoyable without your content...

I'm not sure if there is an official process to submit corrections - but - just a DB3000 image error I noticed - if so inclined...

The main picture is actually showing a Russian sub with the enclosed bridge instead of a 688...

If it helps - I could find a more appropriate image - not sure of your requirements though...

Thanks. Appreciate your offer of assistance. Sometimes I accidentally type the wrong number when naming the photo. That is probably what happened in this case. A good source of non-copyrighted images of US vessels is:

If you can dig one up, I'd appreciate it. I'll have a new photo pack for DB3000 at the end of this month, and will include it then. Also, if anyone sees any errors in the photo ID's, let me know. I corrected one in the upcoming package (Photo of an SSBN being used for a South African SS), but I'm sure there are others.

Try this - if so inclined... I cleaned up some entries with new pix and created descriptions for the US Skipjack, US Permit, and US Sturgeon class submarines as a test... I also prefer my records with a single clean picture 1024 wide by around 500 high or so - of the boats at sea - so I removed all the old images...

The downloaded file has a batch file to do all the install work for you - removes the old images and saves them in case you don't like mine... Just unzip and place the included folder in your DB directory - then run the batch... One click install... Don't run twice without saving your "save" folders - if you want them - as they will overwrite... You can remove my folder once it's run...

I did this for the units in both the DB3000 and the CWDB as well...

I'm not sure why some of the DB entries are for a specific unit such as the Archerfish - so I didn't touch those - only the dated class entries...

Feedback most welcome...

Descriptions don't work for me either; I have checked virtually everything - am writing "virtually" since there must have been something overlooked still as there's no joy with that at all - starting form correct path and ending with re-downloading and restructuring every folder according to every instruction I have come across. I made the images work for me finally that way since I hadn't had them working at all either and sensed that there must have been something wrong with that - but failed entirely when it comes to descriptions. It's not that they are that much important, I could do without them the way I used to, but I am sure it's not what I have been struggling to.

Hi CV60,

Thank you very much for this fantastic package, you did an amazing job. First I had issues with displaying the pictures and description. The problem I had was that I extracted the package in the right folders, but my file extractor tool created a new DB3000 in the existing folder such as was the case with CWDB.

Hi strykerpsg,

No, the pictures,database instructions aren't supplied with the Steam version. You need to download and copy them to the correct directory which is Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Command Modern Air Naval Operations\DB\Images now copy the pictures to the correct subfolders DB3000 and CWDB. The descriptions should be placed in: Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Command Modern Air Naval Operations\DB\Descriptions and to the correct subfolder DB3000 and CWDB

Thank you. There is another "long delayed" update coming soon. I've been busy with the BASPM project, and so I've gotten far behind the power curve on this one. I've received more images from others in the form, and have got images that complete the US MSC and USCG ships, as well as a lot of US sub photos. Next, I'm going to start doing some write ups on the weapons and radar systems. Look for the image package in the next couple of weeks.

Hi Folks,

Yeah - I've been sending my updates to both the CWDB and DB3000 dbase guys... I've been making almost daily updates adding new platforms... I need to figure out how to easily distribute... One thing that is different with my work - is I've included a program to remove all the old images and thumbnails for the records I'm updating... I'm no fan of the use of thumbnails the way they are implemented now as I think they just clutter the database display... All my records have a single image... If the database guys use my updates and just distribute them - that wouldn't clean up the end users database unless they delete all the old records and do a full clean load...

Last night I actually created a full blown installer (Click Team) that would be run as an addendum to any database updates... It makes things simpler and cleans up the images on the PC that it is being installed on - that might be a better way to go... Then I just need to have a place to host it as I don't want everyone hitting my Dropbox account...

Anyway - input most welcome...

If you can tolerate a few pop-up adds at your download location, www.mediafire.com works quite well for the occasional upload/download hosting. It allows for up to 50 Gbyte free upload storage.

If you start your own thread here on this site. (To have control of the OP position), you can then handle updates. etc. by editing the link in the first post to contain a newer link to a newer update. This allows your followers to give you feedback in the same thread and whenever you make changes and redo the db update, you just post an announcement post in the body of your thread for everyone to go back to the first post of the thread for the new(er) update link.

This works great for a small time uploader.

Just a suggestion.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for he input - yeah - maybe I'll have to do that - I was hoping Warfaresim might have had the ability to host the file... I had tried sending a PM to Mike asking about it but the PM system seems to be giving me fits lately...

I spoke with CV-60 and while he will probably use some of my work - we have slightly different philosophies on our work... He is trying to find images for the exact years reflected in the database - where mine are more ballpark but the best quality I can find... For example - on an S-3 Viking - they supported the older white paint scheme and the newer grey paint scheme - I've included both and ballpark the transition dates... With the images I'm using are really just to give the user something to visualize while working with the NTDS symbology... CV-60's job is much harder - as if the database says 1979 - he wants an image from 1979... Both seem valid to me and it's left to personal preference...

Anyway - let me see what I can do... Been playing Doug's beta "Med Conflict" - which is right up my alley - and - I'm trying to get all the platforms in his scenario added to my package...

I will be including scott's image package as an option with mine, to give player's the choice. When I can use his higher quality images, I have added them to my package. Otherwise, users can simply download mine, and his installer will be included that, if selected, will replace some of my lower quality images with his, albeit at a loss in accuracy for the displayed platform.

Yep. That's where the updates are. All the packages will receive updates very soon. Once BASPM is released, I'll have more time for Command. My plan is to spend a lot of time writing descriptions, so that part of the game will catch up with the image packs.
