Just a thought...

In the same way that we now have a generic light and medium carrier (add sensors and weapons as desired, etc.), maybe it would make sense to have a few more generic ship types that could be customized by scenario designers as need be. Some possibilities...

* 500-ton fast attack craft/large patrol boat <-- designed primarily for coastal operations, reasonably fast (35-40 kts), moderate range

* 1,000-ton offshore patrol vessel/minesweeper <-- still pretty fast, although probably not as fast as the FAC, capable of longer patrols, helicopter pad (?)

* 2,000-ton corvette <-- intermediate vessel, capable of long blue water deployments, able to serve as a light escort, in surveillance missions, etc., hanger for one medium helicopter

* 4,000-ton frigate <-- a true blue water warship, optimized for ASW/surface warefare (?), hanger for two medium helicopters

* 8,000-ton destroyer <-- probably optimized for AA warfare, hanger for two medium helicopters

* 16,0000-ton cruiser <-- major multi-role surface combatant, hanger for two large helicopters

I'm sure there are other possibilities, but these were what popped into my head. Thoughts? Observations?

I know that I have mentioned generic land units before. Both vehicles as well as formations of different types and sizes. As I understand it will then be possible to add weapons and vehicles from the db to create suitable units, regardless of nation and time period.

This would IMO solve all future requests of this and that SOF or armour units for country A or B etc.

I like the idea.

Would also like :
*12,000-ton cruiser (I want to create china type 055)

*7,000-ton SSN (several versions with varying acoustic signatures)

*2,000 and 4,000 ton SS (several versions with varying acoustic signatures)

Another idea...

I'm not sure if this should be an aircraft or an SSM weapon...

C Sword 90 Corvette

http://cmn-group.com/products-and-services/military-vessels/corvette/c-sword-90/

(This might be a good model for the generic corvette requested above. The stats for the hull are mostly here...now just add sensors, weapons, etc. In fact, the entire "catalog"...

http://cmn-group.com/products-and-services/military-vessels/

...might be useful in that regard for working up some generic, ready-to-customize platforms).

Hi Folks,

Two things...

1) Aircraft Record 631 - MC-130W Combat Spear - I think was supposed to be a gun ship but it has no weapons defined...

2) Nigerian F-7 Airguard used in Feltan's African Skies has no DB record - working on images and descriptions for scenario - request platform record added...

Thanks !

Regards,
Scott

MC-130W Combat Spear has no weapons. The MC-130W Dragon Spear however has plenty of weapons. They share the same designation tough.

I have a question on DB3000 Weapon_1174, the AS-21 Yakhont-Is this intended to represent the 3M55 Yakhont, aka P-800 Oniks? I'm trying to write a description for it, and am having trouble ID'ing exactly what missile this represents.

Hi community,

here are some suggestions regarding KC-135 entries.

First and foremost, please note that everything below comes from books or websites, I have no first hand experience in the air, I did my best to double check things though.
So what you do have here is nothing more than pure research, nor nothing less. In other words, I've done my homework but it's all from public sources.

Sources:
- Boeing Kc-135 Stratotanker: More Than Just a Tanker (Aerofax Series, 1998), Robert S. Hopkins III, ISBN: 978-1857800692

  • #1852 - KC-135A Stratotanker -- United States (Air Force), 1958-1993
    Take-off/Landing Distance: should be 2601-3200m TOD/LAD (actual take-off run is 2760 m long).
Max Weight: should be 136800 kg.
Crew: should be 4 (pilot, co-pilot, boom operator, navigator).
Fuel Quantity: should be 88452 kg.

  • #1857 - KC-135F Stratotanker -- France (Air Force), 1965-1988
Name: is C-135F (the logic behind it would be that with its reinforced floor, it qualifies as Cargo and Transport aircraft too).
Date: First delivered C-135F came in February 1964, the last one in October 1964.
    Take-off/Landing Distance: should be 2601-3200m TOD/LAD (actual take-off run is 2760 m long).

Crew: should be 4 (pilot, co-pilot, boom operator, navigator).
    Sensors: should be a #2678 - AN/APN-59.
Stores: should add "Cargo [No Drop, 32 tons]", "Passenger" along the Tanker one, Cargo [No Drop, 19 tons], or 126 passengers, or a Medevac.
Loadout: should add "Cargo, 32 tons", "Passenger" along the Tanker one, Cargo [No Drop, 19 tons], "Passengers, 126x", or a Medevac.
Fuel Quantity: should be 81845 kg. (upper deck tank is not fitted, 6607 Kg less)
    Note: #376 - Adelie -- KC-135F/FR
"Adèle" (not Adèlie), by Dassault Electronique "is a Radar Warning Receiver installed from 1990 on a single airframe that may have been deployed during Desert Storm". Examination of C-135F pictures led me to the conclusion that Adèle haven't been anymore since.

Note: Jane's Aircraft Upgrades claim that it's the "Only KC-135s capable of receiving fuel" but I haven't found any other source to support that statement.

    New platforms proposal:

  • #### - KC-135E Stratotanker -- Chile (Air Force), 2010-0
Chile bought 3 of them (57-1501, 58-0014 and probably 57-2594). First delivered in February 2010, second in August 2011 and third in March 2012.

  • #### - C-135FR Stratotanker -- France (Air Force), 1994-0
Loadout: should have a Tanker [Wing Drogue & Centerline Boom]
    Properties: add Wing Drogue
Otherwise, copy #782 (with suggested changes above)

  • #### - KC-135R Stratotanker -- France (Air Force), 1997-0
    3 acquired (497, 525, 574), first delivered in June 1997. Copy #1692 - KC-135R (with suggested changes above).

    Hope it helps.

If I may ask you. What do you mean with 5th generation long range precision strike missile?

The Naval Strike Missile (NSM) is an anti-ship / land attack cruise missile developed by Norway based Kongsberg Defence Systems. NSM is a successor to the Penguin anti-ship missile and is the only fifth generation long-range precision strike missile in the world.
NSM is currently under series production for the Royal Norwegian Navy (RNoN) and the Polish Navy. Nato and other countries have also expressed their interest in the missile.
Orders and deliveries for the anti-ship / land attack cruise missile

"In 2007 Kongsberg and Lockheed Martin signed a joint marketing agreement for the Joint Strike Missile, an aircraft-version of the NSM."
In June 2007 Kongsberg signed a NOK 2.7bn ($474m) contract with the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation (NDLO) for serial production of the NSM. The agreement also included the transition contract of NOK 200m ($34.5m).
NSM is being deployed on Norway's Fridtjof Nansen Class frigates and Skjold Class missile fast patrol boats. Production is scheduled to be completed by 2014.
In December 2010, the Polish Ministry of Defence placed a NOK 660m ($114m) contract with Kongsberg for the NSM and logistics equipment. It is an extension to the base contract signed for the NSM in December 2008.
The request for additional NSMs, bringing the total contract value to NOK 712m ($123m), was approved in December 2011.
Development and testing of the Naval Strike Missile (NSM)

The Naval Strike Missile was developed to meet the requirements of the Royal Norwegian Navy to arm its new frigates and coastal corvettes. NSM was also selected by the Polish Navy for use on its coastal defence installations.
Kongsberg and NDLO signed the NSM development contract in 1996. The first development test of NSM was successfully completed in June 2004. In July 2006 Kongsberg conducted a test firing, which enabled the RNoN's final approval of the development phase.
In January 2007 Kongsberg and Lockheed Martin signed a joint marketing agreement for the Joint Strike Missile (JSM), an aircraft-version of the NSM. The JSM will be incorporated in Lockheed Martin's F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter.
Serial production of the NSM began in June 2007. A test conducted in April 2008 was unsuccessful due to malfunction of booster. The first series produced NSM was successfully test-fired against a sea target by RNoN and Kongsberg at the US Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division's Point Mugu range in June 2011. The first ever test against a land target was conducted in the same month.
Naval Strike Missile design and capabilities

The stealth design of the NSM allows the anti-ship missile to penetrate into shipboard defences. The NSM is effectively used in littoral and open sea environments. The airframe design and the high thrust-to-weight ratio enhance the manoeuvrability of the missile.
"NSM is currently under series production for the Royal Norwegian Navy (RNoN) and the Polish Navy. Nato and other countries have expressed interest."
The missile has a length of 3.96m. It can carry a 125kg HE fragmentation warhead for a maximum range of more than 185km. The launch weight of the missile is 407kg. The NSM based Coastal Defence System (CDS) includes a fire distribution centre (FDC), sea surveillance and tracking radar and an NSM launcher fire unit.
The NSM can be fired from a range of platforms against a variety of targets. The passive homing missile travels in sea-skimming mode and can make advanced terminal manoeuvres in the terminal phase, to survive enemy air defences.
The missile, using GPS-aided mid-course guidance with a dual-band imaging infrared (IIR) seeker, detects and discriminates the targets. Autonomous target recognition (ATR) of the seeker ensures accurate detection and striking of sea or land based targets. A programmable fuse is used to detonate the missile's warhead.
Propulsion of Kongsberg Defence Systems' NSM

The NSM is launched into the air by a solid rocket booster which is jettisoned upon ignition. The Microturbo TRI-40 turbojet engine propels the missile towards its target with high subsonic speed.
The TRI-40 is a single spool turbojet engine consisting of a four-stage axial compressor, annular smokeless combustor and a single-stage turbine. It delivers a maximum thrust of 2.5-3.3kN. The engine can be run on JP8 or JP10 fuel.

Rag, buddy, Pal what has a man got to do to get you to change united kingdom (Royal Army) to British army. I know it is a small thing but honestly I am thinking of starting a revolution, over throwing the Queen (God bless her)and starting a republic. Now that would be really inconvenient not to mention I would have to get some time off work! So please!

Platforms #1838 DD 177 Atago [Improved Kongo] and #1748 '' should both have their 127mm/54 OTO Melara Compact replaced with a 127mm/62 Mk45 Mod 4 naval artillery as well as having both CWIS upgraded to Block 1B. Check imagery if necessary.

    2 small updates:

    1. YJ-83 (C802A, #541) and YJ-83K (C802AK, #2137) have incorrect export version designations (C803) and should have slightly larger warhead comparing to older YJ-8, YJ-81 and YJ-82 (190kg HE). Now all sharing the same 165kg warhead.

source is for example Ch. Carslon monograph:

    http://www.defensemedianetwork.com/stories/chinas-eagle-strike-eight-anti-ship-cruise-missiles-the-yj-83-c803-and-the-family-tree/

    2. #4182 - Generic 3D Air Search Radar [Long-Range] (for example Y-9 Cub) is way too precise - detects all kind of targets virtually without any uncertainty zone (tested vs AN/APS-145 on E2-K. Test save attached

Its date should be 2015, qualification firing are being held but it's not deployed yet.

"The French DGA (Direction Générale d’Armement) has successfully carried out the final qualification firing of the MdCN system (Missile de Croisière Naval, also known as NCM or Naval Cruise Missile). The firing, which took place on 27th October 2014 at the DGA’s “Missile Test Centre” at Biscarrosse (Landes) on France’s Atlantic coast, represented a missile launch from a frigate."

Researching about the Brisbane G-20 Summit 2014 Harpoon HCE/HUCE scenario I found the MU-90 are not implemented and will not in Australian AP-3C and SH-60B, they will keep the use of Mk46 Mod5 to end of operational life.
(In Command CMANO this only affects the AP-3C - Australia (Air Force), 2007 variant MU-90 capable, the SH-60B-2 - Australia (Navy). 2008 has the correct Mk46 Mod5).

After deciding that its Mark 46 torpedoes were inadequate, Australia set up the JP2070 project in 1998 to buy torpedoes for its Adelaide-class frigates, ANZAC-class frigates, AP-3C Orion aircraft, S-70B-2 Seahawk helicopters and planned SH-2G(A) Super Seasprite helicopters.[5] The Seasprites were cancelled and the Orions and Seahawks were removed from the MU90 programme on budget grounds; their replacements, the P-8 Poseidon and MH-60R Seahawk will use the US Mark 54 torpedo.[5] The A$639m[5] project to buy a classified number of MU90 has been heavily criticised by the Australian National Audit Office on the grounds of cost, insufficient test firings which failed to reveal defects in the torpedo, and the lack of commonality with the Navy's air-launched torpedoes. The MU90 reached IOC in November 2012.[5]

    Hi community,

here is a serie of proposal regarding Mirage 2000, starting with 2000D. N will come later then single-seater and foreign versions.

Before all else, please note that what I do suggest comes from books or websites, I have no first hand experience in the air, I did my best to double check things though.
So what you do have here is nothing more than pure research, nor nothing less. In other words, I've done my homework but keep in mind it's all from public sources.

  • #936 - Antilope 5 -- 1989, Mirage 2000N
  • #1993 - Antilope 5-3D
Both are the same device and should be named "Antilope 5 TC", "TC" meaning "Télémétrie - Cartographie".
It doesn't gives Heading Information nor is able to perform Surface Search. Like the #847 - Tornado Nose Radar (TNR), it's a Terrain Following and Ground Mapping Radar. Its Air to Air abilities are subpar (due to its frequency I've been told), while it's max A-A range is advertised as 16 n,m, it's practical range is about 5-8 nm. The Magic 2's or the pod's IR sensor, or even Eyeball Mk1 are often more efficient to find the tanker the Mirage 2000D have rendez-vous with (this is verbatim from actual crew).
The difference from 2000N and D lays in the weapon system.

  • #1892 - Chameleon
Name is Cameleon ("Caméléon" if you can use accents)

  • #3891 - DDM-2000 -- ICMS Mk2
Name is "DDM", simply. (Détecteur de Départ Missiles)

  • #70 - Mirage 2000D -- France (Air Force), 1996
  • #69 - Mirage 2000D -- France (Air Force), 1998
  • #1282 - Mirage 2000D -- France (Air Force), 2000
  • #23 - Mirage 2000D -- France (Air Force), 2002
  • #1745 - Mirage 2000D -- France (Air Force), 2004
  • #1715 - Mirage 2000D -- France (Air Force), 2011
  • #2861 - Mirage 2000D -- France (Air Force), 2014

    Sensors: should add:
    #2241 - AN/AVS-9 Night Vision Goggles

    Properties: should be:
    Bombsight - Advanced Navigation (INS/GPS)
    Fly-by-Wire
Night Navigation/Attack (Incl. Bomb, Rocket Delivery)
    Probe Refuelling
    Terrain Following (Land: 200ft (60.9m), Sea: 100ft (30.5m))

Military Static Thrust at S/L: should be 6562, (64.35 kN).
Afterburner Static Thrust at S/L:: should be 9700, (95.13 kN).
Military Static SFC at S/L: should be 0.92.
Specific fuel flow with full AB: should be 2.12.

Stores: #1786 - Rubis Navigation Pod [FLIR] should be removed, same from all and any loadouts. France only used it on Mirage F1CR from 1999 to 2003.

-<<Following proposals only applies to the specific platform # and assume that aforementioned changes have been applied first and >>-

  • #70 - Mirage 2000D -- France (Air Force), 1996
Name: could be named Mirage 2000D R1
Date: should be changed to 1995 (first Sqn. operational from March 29th 1994, however before 1995 there have been multiple subversions (R1N1L that could only use Laser guided weaps, R1N1 that couldn't use any Laser guided weaps nor rockets) each with their very own capabilities but when the Mirage D actually went to combat, they were all, afaik, to the same standard, which is R1).
    Sensors: no #3891 - DDM-2000
    Loadouts:
Loadouts wit 2 AS.30L or BGL-1000 are not operational.
Only 12 BAT.100 or BAT.120 fits on Mirage 2000, not 18 (that was on Mirage III/V).
Loadouts with 4 BLG.66 Belouga CB or T.250 bombs would not allow a 1300 liter drop tank to be carried along.
As far as I know, loadouts with 8 bombs, be it T.200 or T.25, simply couldn't fit.

  • #69 - Mirage 2000D -- France (Air Force), 1998
Name: could be named Mirage 2000D R1 (GBU)
Date: make it 1999 to have a version for operation "Allied Force".
    Sensors: no #3891 - DDM-2000
Mounts: add 1x Eclair that brings 2*8 Flares + 1x Eclair again that provides 1* 18 Chaffs. It was fitted at the expense of the drogue parachute during Allied Force (on Mirage 2000C during Desert Storm too btw). Eg. https://flic.kr/p/hxfBo9
    Stores:
    - Delete #1029 - BLG.66 Belouga CB [151 x Anti-Tank Bomblets] -- 1980, they are banned since 1996.
    - Delete #823 - GBU-22/B Paveway III LGB [Mk82] (only came in 2011).
    - Delete #871 - GBU-24A/B Paveway III LGB [BLU-109/B] (only came in 2011).
    - Add #1771 - Atlis II Pod [EO + LRMTS, 12k ft] -- 1986.
    - Add #1814 - Mk82 500lb LDGP.
    Loadouts:
    - Loadouts wit 2 AS.30L or BGL-1000 are not operational.
    - Only 12 BAT.100 or BAT.120 fits, not 18.
    - Loadouts with 4 T.250 bombs would not allow a 1300 liter drop tank to be carried along.
    - As far as I know, loadouts with 8 bombs, be it T.200 or T.25, simply couldn't fit.
    - GBU-12D/B LGB + PDLCT loadout can be cloned and the PDLCT replaced by an #1771 - Atlis II Pod [EO + LRMTS, 12k ft] -- 1986 pod, its camera does offer a better definition (IRL, not sure it does in COMANO).
    - A loadout with 4 T.25 bombs can be cloned and T.25 replaced by #1814 - Mk82 500lb LDGP
    - Delete BLG.66 Belouga loadouts.
    - Delete GBU-22 and GBU-24 loadouts.

  • #1282 - Mirage 2000D -- France (Air Force), 2000
Name: could be named Mirage 2000D R2
Date: make it 2001, first R2 came in the summer of that year.
Sensors: add #1673 - Generic Binoculars -- Anti-Air & Surface (the pilot uses while the WSO (NOSA,"Navigateur officier systèmes d’armes", in French parlance) use the pod.
Mounts: add 1 LLC (Lance-Leurres de Crête) that adds 48 flares (6*8), eg. http://i.gyazo.com/c769d36ae92e0a3e1dbd753851cb75ae.png
    T.25 250kg
    Stores:
    - Delete #823 - GBU-22/B Paveway III LGB [Mk82] (only came in 2011).
    - Delete #871 - GBU-24A/B Paveway III LGB [BLU-109/B] (only came in 2011).
    - Add #1771 - Atlis II Pod [EO + LRMTS, 12k ft] -- 1986.
    - Delete #1508 - T.25 250kg GPB (no more dumb bombs).
    - Delete #1507 - T.200 400kg GPB (no more dumb bombs).
    Loadouts:
    - Loadouts wit 2 AS.30L are not operational.
    - Only 12 BAT.100 or BAT.120 fits, not 18.
    - Make R.550 Magic 2 Mk2 optional as either only one or none are usually carried over Afghanistan (1 is kept to help find the tanker, due to poor A/A abilities of the radar)
    - Delete T.25 250kg and T.200 400kg loadouts
    - Delete GBU-22 and GBU-24 loadouts.

  • #23 - Mirage 2000D -- France (Air Force), 2002
Name: could be named Mirage 2000D R2.1
Date: make it 2004. -> Note: Apache missiles were only test fired in December 2002 and never actually deployed. I thus think that a dedicated platform is not necessary.
Sensors: add #1673 - Generic Binoculars -- Anti-Air & Surface (the pilot uses while the WSO (NOSA,"Navigateur officier systèmes d’armes", in French parlance) use the pod.
Mounts: add 1 LLC (Lance-Leurres de Crête) that adds 48 flares (6*8), eg. http://i.gyazo.com/c769d36ae92e0a3e1dbd753851cb75ae.png

    - Clone the "Long Range" GBU-24 loadout and swp the GBU-24A/B LGB with a #1924 - GBU-16B/B Paveway II LGB [Mk83].

Forgive the newbie question: how do I pick up the current DB3000 I am seeing here?
    Thank you.

Go to the game menu, editor drop down and then pick the database and version you would like to use (newest is default unless you load a scenario then it the version the db was created with).

The requests entered above will be added in time and released with future updates. When I say logged or added to list its me marking the string to know what I've added to our work list.

    Thanks!

    Mike
