Hi Folks,

I was recently doing some testing on just what a bomber has to do to kill an airfield complex... During my testing I noticed that killing grounded aircraft on tarmacs seem unrealistically hard to kill... To prove my point - I took an airport - placed (8) B-52's and parked them on the ramp... I took (2) more B-52's and loaded them up with (90) 500 pounders and commenced an unopposed bomb run... While I hit the airport a whole bunch - very few facilities were actually destroyed and the (8) B-52's on the ramp emerged unscathed... It seems to me - the actual aircraft should be the easiest things to kill - simple machine gun runs should destroy the planes pretty readily - 90 bombs should have decimated them... I had similar results with smart weapons...

I did some more testing - and - I could kill the planes when I hit the tarmacs with enough ordinance to destroy them... I would think the planes should be gone long before the tarmac.

I can post a save later tonight - but - I think this might be across the board...

Just figured I'd pass it along my observations in case it hadn't been mentioned before...

A savegame would indeed be useful to see where exactly the bombs struck. When i attack an airfield i usually drop 1 smartbomb on any possible parking space by way of manual attack, or destroy every runway and runway grade taxiway, or destroy all runway access points.
