Wow, you are just blasting through his defenses! Not sure anyone has taken the Okinawas this early before?

Also amazed at the extremely low plane losses. That has to favor you?

Hi Jocke! Yeah. I did not exploit the breakthroughs quickly enough in previous games nor was aggressive enough.

This time around decieded to follow up the Marianas captured with swift moves to north.

Personally this is the first time I have invaded Okinawas and definately good bases to have. It pretty much blockades the home islands. Now I can use LBA aircraft and carriers to shut down his shipping lanes.

The plane losses have been "odd". I'am used to 6-7x times that number around this date.

I really don't know why these are such low.. allthough I did not give him chance to deploy them.

I have solid pools available so as you said I think this favours me at this point of time.

So what is the next move now? I found it a bit cramped on the Okinawas but certainly possible to conduct strategic bombing over the HI. But you won´t have the long range fighters needed for that yet.

Stategic nightbombing? Or are you looking to land on the HI?

Good question. At first we need build up the Okinawa region and than options are open.

He has tons of aircraft at HI thus we need to start taking these out piece by piece. Also, definately want to shutdown all merchant ship movent in and out of HI. The shipping lanes are now priority.

Also waiting signit intel were his remaining fleet is. He don't have many carriers but few battleships are lurking/hiding somewhere.

We might swing and move towards Luzon and Formosa. Than again HI assault is not ruled out either. I have once landed in HI and you need brute force there. (Not saying we do not have it).

We will definately start strategic bombing runs as soon as it is practical.

Also need to breakthrough at Burma. More infantry, artillery, combat engineers, fighters and bombers are moving into that region as well.

So.. not ruling anything out at this moment!

An small update. Chris is organizing his stuff after the fall of Okinawa and making major overhaul on his assets near HI.

Actually will need to take closer look too once the turn arrives.

Thankfully this is not an sprint so we keep on going shortly!

February 27th - March 1st 1944

The show is back into road....

Allied airforces continue their assault at Toungoo.

The last japanese troops has been wiped out at Naha.

Allied fighters down some Betty and Nell bombers around Iwo Jima.

Definately nice to have better picture on what seas / traffic looks like near HI!

Sub kills: PB Hinode Maru #18

Man! B-29 pilots had to keep formation very well with that many bombs coming down in a long string! Makes me wonder how
many B-29s were lost in night bombing raids because they got hit by bombs.

Well.. the search planes definately spotted IJN carriers and alied firepower overwhelmed them.

I don't know whether he actually were trying to sneak them towards Okinawa or into HI for repairs/upgrades.

I guess the best way to describe this show is to copy and paste whole encounter...

Wow! Your CAP really ate up his first strike. Makes me think his pilot experience/skill is lower than usual because of previous heavy losses.

A doubt he was trying to sneak the CVs home. My bet is that he tried for a max range strike and you moved in too close for that.

BBfanboy: The CAP definately worked nicely and as intended. Those two allied carriers only recieved a dent and some small shipyard time.

It seems that those carriers were intentionally there to lure my carriers further south. Chris actually was sneaking some carriers and surface assests out of HI.

That propably would have worked but his aggressive commander reacted and thus the battle took place. Those ships he was sneaking seem to have arrived at Hong Kong now.

The reason for that deployment was the fuel situation at HI which will become an issue for him now.

The PBEM will go forward. Both feel that only way to learn the game is by playing it. You can read forums, tips etc but it is quite diffrent to actually use them in the game.

Now, I have some choices to make regarding rest of 1944 and onwards...

Quiet days after that big carrier battles as expected.

SS Crevalle torpedoes CL Yura near Pescadores. The ship had been damaged SS Apagon earlier.

The air skirmished battles have continued around Toungoo. Nothing major though and the losses have been around 1:1 ratio.

Allied are now starting to get Thunderbolt fighters which should be very useful indeed.

The map picture pretty much sums up the current state of affairs. It is all about decision making process at the moment.

Only real combat action is in Burma where Japanese fighters try to overwhelm Allied bombers. Nothing bloody though.

The fist reinforcements have arrived at Burma but not in hurry to start the final push just yet.

Other than that... well options are open and have been looking at the map to make decisions. Nothing confirmed yet...

The IJA is putting more fighters up in the air at Toungoo. Thus there have few bloody days there.

The first bunch of P-47D25 Thunderbolts definately help in this area. Also some 30 B29 bombers have arrived in Aden and are deploying now.

In ground allied launched another ground offensive near Prome but that failed and caused more casualties than planned...

...nothing major though but tough fights have been ongoing here for a while.

In the pacific region there are deployments ongoing everywhere. No rush and still have couple of options to think about before decieding what's up next.

The submarines have not sunk nearly as much but that is down to that we have now pretty much closed the traffic into HI from DEI region.

CL Kuma was finished though (on the pic) and always nice.

Sub kills: xAK Sinno Maru, xAK Syunko Maru, xAK Unkai Maru #3, PB Seki Maru #2, PB Kongo Maru #2 and CL Kuma

I would move out all the small BDEs and RGTs before the next attack. I have found that the seem to take unproportional losses!

Jocke: I will take that into consideration! It is an mess with jungle hexes. Immune to air bombardments, immune to ground artillery and blood bath in ground assaults!

April 5th - 10th 1944

Not much in terms of action. There have been some air to air duels at Toungoo but that is pretty much it.

Aprill 11th will mark the day that first allied bombers begin targeting japanese cities.

I'am hitting 5 cities in total and hopefully we manage to get some fires going...

Allied bombers visited the following cities... Yokohama, Osaka/Kyoto, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Utsonomiya, Fukuoka and Shimonoseki.

The damage has been non-existant with flying 9000ft at night.

Lets hope the hit ratios improve since this way no worries for the japanese at all...

Make sure you have maximum DL on the cities you try to strat bomb. You also need luck with the weather. Rain or worse and you most likely won´t hit anything.

The problem being the lack of long legged recon aircraft. Next turn will hit Wakayma with full force by night and 100% recon assets targeting the city.

The previous 4 days has resulted 0 hits on manpower which I find a bit unrealistic since manpower is not an small specific target.

Next turn will target more specific targets. As said will hit refinery and light industry at Wakayama.

Allied heavy bombers have been visiting city of Nagoya at night.

We can confirm that the city is burning and definately pleased to see to results.

At China japanese advance in Tuyn in the south and rout two chinese corps defending the city. Whether this is true offensive remains to be seen...

Elsewhere still moving stuff, supplies and troops around...

Sub kills: xAK Shoho Maru, xAK Yuzan Maru, xAK Sikisan Maru and PB Keijo Maru.

We have been bombing Nagoya and OSaka/Kobe heavily by night. These cities have been burning more or less daily.

At Burma allied have launched two ground assaults at Toungoo supported by large airstrikes.

It seems that we have finally pushed japanese out since 6 units were reported moving out last turn.

Japanese have tried to put up an CAP there for couple of times but Thunderbolts and Spitfires have gotten the upperhand.

Elsewhere moving troops, supplies and assets around the map....

Sub kills: xAK Ada Maru, xAK Ronsan Maru, PB Keijo Maru, xAK Asama Maru #2, xAK Totori Maru, xAK Bandoeng Maru, xAK Teimei Maru, xAK Ryotaku Maru, xAK Boston Maru and xAK Miyadono Maru

The show has now arrived in summer of 1944...

Allied bombers have kept busy bombing Nagoya and Osaka. The raids have taken toll on the cities (see pic) and we will keep up the pressure of HI.

In Burma japanese have moved into Rangoon and Pegu with allied troops on pursuit.

We actually launched an ground assault at Rangoon and both sides suffered big losses.. well we will seize the capital in due course.

The submarines have not been that lucky due to lack of targets.

Sub kills: xAK Hoeisan Maru and xAK Chowa Maru

The main focus in terms of action has been at Burma.

Japanese have now retreated from Rangoon and Pegu towards Moulmein.

This after heavy ground combat action. Neither side were forced to retreat though.

Also allied bombers have been heavily involved here burning supplies and bombing ground units.

Now that basically means we have now liberated Burma but tough fights ahead since enemy is here in force.

Intresting to see whether he moved further down towards Bangkok or will he fortify Moulmein region.

In terms of HI bombing campaign we have bombed: Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe and Wakayama.

Elsewhere quiet as preparations continue on schedule....

Wargamr broke through into central Thailand by dropping paratroops to take Ayuthia north of Bangkok, and then flying in lots of follow-up troops.
His opponent had little at Bangkok and was worried about his Moulmein troops being cut off so he pulled everything back, abandoning all his carefully built fortifications.
Wargamr has been pushing his troops ever since, decimating them in the open.

Allied bombers continue their campaigns in Burma. The japanese have withdrawn just south of Pegu.

It seems the river crossing there is the main defensive line for now.

The japanese home islands have been bombed daily.

The following cities have been targeted: Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Kobe, Taihoku, Shimizu, Fukuoka and Matsuyama.

Last couple of days allied fighters launched sweep missions into Nagasaki. That resulted both sides losing around 200 fighters.

The submarines have not found enemy merchants during last month. I have rerouted some of them in order find prey...

Sub kills: xAK Taikei Maru and xAK Naples Maru
