Still getting some CTD on load with 1.05 official, but better than it was, before I had to run through a process to get the game started. Load a small scenario like 'Fall Weiss', go back to Menu, load a bigger scenario like 'Fall Gelb', go back to Menu, then load the game save I actually wanted. It often worked after this process, but sometimes had to repeat several times, including restarting the computer, as after several failed loads it wouldn't start a game whatever I did. With earlier game versions I always got the game running eventually, but so far the CTDs are less and I can sometimes go straight into the load of a saved game, which is progress. All of this is in 'Custom' mode. I notice on the 'Storm in the Pacific' forum, comments that the game significantly raises the temperature of the CPU, with these Wastelands games my laptop cooling fan goes into overdrive running TOF, so the game system is making heavy demands on the hardware. These games don't have a high graphic content, so it must be the software configuration doing this. It may be irrelevant, but I suspect the game may be crashing because of the load it is placing on the hardware. I can often see when a game load is going to fail, as the selection of screen buttons slows down and hesitates, almost always a CTD follows. I am now running high spec hardware with Windows 8, but with all my computers I have never failed to get the game running eventually and it's looking like this might be an improvement. I now know enough about the game to get the best out of it and, for all it's quirks, it's a great experience, even with the known issues that still need a fix I am having a whole load of fun and enjoying it a LOT.
