I purchased the box/download version around 10 30 am E.D.T. and the price for the download and box/download were exactly the same price? I just want to be sure that I will receive the boxed version? Anyone else with the same problem?

Hi Ken7,

You should hear from us shortly. A handful of customers ordered before the store page was finished going live. As a result, although you clicked on the "physical" link you ordered a download copy. Our support folks are in the process of contacting those folks who were affected by that glitch.

Regards,

- Erik

Hi Ken

there was a glitch for about 1 minute after release where it was sending you to the download contract instead of boxed, if you clicked boxed. We are going to be contacting everyone who clicked this link while it was active. If you look you'll see unfortunately you do have a digital copy not physical. If you didn't enter a shipping address and pay postage then you do not have the physical version. We noticed and fixed it almost instantly but some of you guys were just too fast for us. We have a list of everyone affected - it looks like about 10 people. We will be contacting you individually to resolve it. Sorry for the mistake but it wont delay anything as the physical version is not in stock yet and we'll get it sorted out before then.

Once again apologies for the mix up.

Cheers

Iain

Huh? I don't get it.

Download only: 68,99 Euro plus 13,11 Euro taxes = 82,10 Euro.
Physical with manual: 81,99 Euro, no taxes. (B/c it's a book?!)

The differences in VAT laws do mean that the physical copy is especially attractive for some regions. Enjoy.

Thanks a lot.

But then it would be fair to delete the "+ taxes" label under the physical with manual, wouldn't it? It is misleading.

Bets regards

Tax does apply in some areas - we unfortunately can't make that part of the page completely region-specific. You need to go far enough in the process for us to know your country before we can give the exact totals. The "+taxes" is to avoid a surprise in case taxes do apply.

Regards,

- Erik

some countries don't pay tax on books while some do so it's considered as a whole price where as in the UK for an example the book is taken off as it's VAT free, strange yes, true also yes

Does I mean that if you don't have a VAT applied in the purchase form you will not be charged later during delivery?

I'm in Spain so I understand the order will be served from Germany warehouse and then no extra taxes and no VAT as it is a book, right?

In that case the physical is may option...

You wont be charged VAT if you ordered the physical version. This is just how Bluesnap works.

These are the users we are contacting who have an order issue. Everyone else's order went through correctly. If you are not on this list you are fine!

Fair point, I've removed the names - we'll be contacting all those who were affected in any case. FYI since this is based on store orders we often have no idea what the forum name for a given customer might be.

Regards,

- Erik

There are so many reasons why I don't want my name on a public forum. I'm glad they were removed, but ughh... I was seriously debating a purchase, not now.

Iain was trying to be helpful in resolving this issue for those few customers who were affected. FWIW, I can't think of another instance where we've done that, so please be assured that your purchase is private.

Regards,

- Erik

This is just a question, not a complaint! If I buy the game, it will be the most expensive game by far. I normally pay 35-50 Euro for a new games. What makes it so expensive compared to other games?

time spent doing it, development costs more likely...

think of it as a long term investment...

indy game, 1/10th of the price and 20 odd hours maybe game play or sometimes more game dependant

mainstream game, half the price, 40/60 odd hours game play

fps / first person shooter on xbox one, same price with 20/40 hours game play but sells in 10,000 to 100,000 units plus so development costs per return are better, but still has a higher price...

WITE still not finished it after 3 or 4 years of playing it, so game time is long term so worth the little extra

same applies to WITW tbh

and no i'm not selling it, i just seem to live here atm

If I purchase the Download or Boxed Edition of the game from outside Australia why do you charge Tax as games can be purchase from outside Australia up to the value of A$1,000.00 without paying VAT or duty to Australian Customs?

Is Tax payable on purchases from Australia and if so what is the amount?

If the games is sent from outside Australia to Australia how do you pay Tax (VAT) to Australian Customs if it is not required?

What is the postage cost to send the boxed game to Australia?

It's no great mystery - games of this scope, detail and realism are meant for a niche market. There are only so many folks in the world who are interested enough in history, strategy and conflict that they really want games like this. We happen to be some of those folks and we do our best to give gamers like us the best game possible. Gary Grigsby and the 2by3 Games team are pretty unique in the world as far as their ability to take these historical topics at a grand scale and really make them work in a realistic and detailed strategy game.

Unlike many less expensive games on the market, there is really nothing else quite like these games. They are made by master craftsmen like Gary and Joel over many years and the price is set to allow them to continue to make these games that we all love. If you enjoy games like these, the value you get in terms of replayability and hours of fun per dollar is absolutely unmatched and would still be at 2-3 times the price IMHO.

Regards,

- Erik

I don't know all the answers off the top of my head and I don't want to give you an incorrect one - the taxes and VAT are handled by our store partner, who has an entire department that keeps track of these international tax laws. If you feel it is incorrect, please drop our Help Desk a line (see my signature) and they can follow up with you and our store partner to make sure everything is a-ok.

Regards,

- Erik

If price is an issue, just note, new games are always expensive, even more so when it is on a dying breed such as what we are interested in. Hey on the bright side you can always wait for 5-6 years for this to be cheaper on the X-mas sale. Just boils down to if you want it bad enough now or later. Myself, with limited game time, still working my way across the cold war in Flash Point. But think I will go grab WiE and expansions this year, as I have always wanted to give it ago, even if it is a time sink stopping other games. Will grab this soon, as the urge is just to great.(and give them time to work out any bugs which always happen.)
Cheers, and game on brothers.

Ps - wish it covered the early war too as Germany headed West. - Maybe an expansion...

tbh if any of the developers wanted to make money, they would make fps instead of war games, as mentioned above it's a very small niche market, but price is very good compared to xbox one games and hours of game play still...
