IIRC and it is entirely possible I do not, my understanding was after WitW, a WitE 2.0 was next on the list to add the features from WitW. I may easily be a lone wolf in the woods on this, but I am much more interested in a WitE 2.0 than other developments. Unless they can be developed in parallel Then I have no issue lol.

+1... I'm hoping they include these new features in WITE 2.0 We can ask Gary on Monday during the AMA on Reddit if they started anything on 2.0 yet.

Yes, that is in the plans. I'm sure Gary and Joel and Pavel would be happy to speak to that too.

We can't give you an idea of timing on WitE 2.0, but our goal is to eventually do a WitE 2.0 with all of the features of WitW and any other products that come in the future before WitE 2.0 (i.e. we expect to add a naval game into a Blitz 39-40 game, and this would probably migrate to WitE 2.0). Certainly the air system, weather and logistic system changes were all made with WitE 2.0 in mind, although each will no doubt require tweaking to deliver the ultimate east front experience. It will take some time though.

So it looks like a WitE 2.0 is very far out into the future, like 2016 . I understand that it makes more sense to flesh out the other systems, like naval in other products first so that ALL the changes can be done in WitE 2.0 can be done only once versus creating a 3.0 version lol. It still makes me sad since after using the much better systems in WitW it will be very hard to return to WitE. Even with all the excellent work done for the 1.8 patch.

probably wishful thinking on my part but I was hoping there was a chance that WitE 2.0 could've been developed in tandem along with whatever game is next in the series.

I think based on whats been said here makes a 2016 release is VERY optimistic. considering it took almost 4 years for witw to be released, if WitE 2.0 isn't the next release then 2018 would be the earliest we would see it tbh.

Me too. But it does make more sense to develop the naval system for the series plus any other tweaks prior to 2.0 So unfortunately I think your 2018 estimate is a lot closer to the truth than my 2016. Of course we can always hope

I guess one thing working in 2by3's favour is the fact that the War in the (x) series is developed in a modular fashion. Of course, I have no idea what that means in terms of release dates, but I presume the developers will not need to start from a fresh slate creating a new map and to a limited extent, completely rewrite the code.

WitW evolved from the WitE core although heavily modified. The current map will have to be checked/verified for non-WitW areas, maybe slightly extended to cover more areas.
The WitW core will see further evolution (if needed) to form the base for a new game like WitE 2.0 or whatever is sheduled for development.
