Future WITW Development Philosophy and Manual Questions ? - 12/14/2014 12:27:58 PM

Having spent 1.5 hours perusing the WITW forum still a bit fuzzy on some of my concerns prior to purchase:

1. Will future paths focus on expanding WITW to include 1940 and on, or will future WITW be developed as separate games? Sound likes expansion of base WITW to me, but not sure.

2. What is the physical size of the manual (5x8 etc..)?

3. Does the pdf manual mimic printed manual content?

4. Any plans to update pdf manual as patches/fixes are made?

Thanks in advance,

This is best answered by a member of the dev team or a moderator but I will take a stab.

1. I'm not sure it has been decided whether there will be expansions like in WitE or new games. To flesh out the naval system will require changes to the game engine. Erik and Joel have answered questions similar to this in other posts. I have no basis for this but I suspect, if WitW is selling well you may see both new games and expansion packs. Some campaigns like Greece/Yugo 1941 I would think could be handled within existing game structure.

2. Typically manuals are 5x7 for 2by3 games but have not seen the one for this game yet.

3. Yes, I do not believe there is any unique content in the printed manual.

4. Typically updates to the pdf manual are released periodically. That has been the case in their other games.

It's a great game, I hope you decide to buy it.

Thanks Chris, I will probably buy download only and print what I need. After 5 years of WitpAE looking forward to a change. Love WitpAE, but a huge pill to swallow when committing to the GC. I hope that I can complete a WITW campaign in significantly less time than with WitpAE.

I remember reading that the format of the manual is larger than normal.

That is my curiosity. For instance, the WitpAE printed manual was small-ish at 5x7. If WitW manual is larger I might be interested in the printed version vice just pdf. The WitpAE manual is also paper bound and did not hold up well, still usable but the binding was not up to the task of repeated use or, in my case, overuse. The hard-bound WitW manual should hold up better I would think.

BTW: I paid $104.83 American for WitpAE deluxe edition with download back in November 2009

Yes indeed, turns are a week and you start later in the war plus no transports to worry about moving across half the world.

Hopefully someone can reply on the manual size who has received it.
