hey folks

in the stock ai scripts (such as #162,#163, etc) where the ai is set to raid midway or canton or some other southpacific base, andy mac lists 'ADEN' as the assault base.

why would this be set like this? why would he not, say for the mdiway script, list midway? is this to insure the scriopt will always run as ADEN is sure to be in allied hands?

any clarification would be great

I was never involved deeply in the AI work. I believe the assault base is the base the AI will attempt to take with ground troops in the script. If the base designated as the target is not accessible to the Japanese, the script will use no troops and the script will just try to conduct air/naval attacks on the target.

At least that's my best guess. I could be wrong.

Bill

that is what I always assumed - but clearly something is going on with scripts #16x - there are about 5 or 6 scripts - some with specified air unuits, some with ground units, that have AUCKLAND or ADEN as the target base - but the task force plotting is near Midway, or Canton, as are the other associated air and ground units.

As I understand it the script will run until the target base is captured or the 'timer' on it expires (it passes the end date). Is tjhis a way to keep the scripts running forever?

confused .... ;<
