Here is a simple kit for those starting out as Pre-Warp Empires.

Yes, these ships are lacking - that's what pre-warp is all about. I tried to leave room for energy collectors, because I assume that's the first thing everyone is going to research. Only 1 freighter type, because you only need 1 at this point, but you can dupe it if you get tired of annoying warnings.

First research suggestions:
Weapons - Fighters or Armor, then the other.
Energy - Energy Collectors, then Shields, and then Reactors... at least until you discover the warp tech temple.
HiTech - Head straight towards Long Range Sensors. Advance warning of pirate attacks is crucial if you want to have time to intercept them, since they can outrun you easily at this point.

Does not include warships. Anything you build at this point will be lucky to win against space slugs, so military ships are kind of pointless during prewarp.

No other tips to offer at this time for this tech level.

I don't know what to do with this file. Windows 7 won't open it. What is a .dwd file and where should it go -- installed in the game somewhere?
