Hello everyone, I played "War in Russia" a lot and recently bought "War in the West". Its awesome and so rich of details, thx a lot to the developers and the scenario designers. Tried some smaller scenarios and currently playing 50% of the main campaign. I would really appreciate your advise and sorry for the newbie questions. 1. Support Units: How do I send Support Units to the East Front? Can I attach them to a Corps HQ and send them together to the East? I took some Jagdpanzer Btls, but I want to send them back now. 2. Air I couldn't send von Richthofen to another LW HQ (he seems to disappear if replaced or send elsewhere, but has a great air value [8]) - so I send the Luftflotte 2 to overtake all Abfangjäger from the Luftflotte Reich. Does it make sense to attach both LW Jagdcorps to the Luftflotte 2 an better to attach the Jagdgeschwader there instead of directly to the Luftflotte? Is it better to have one more chain of command layer (Jagdcorps - Luftflotte - OKL)? Is it better to set Airport TOE to Auto or to 100%, if a full JG (Stab + I.-IV.) is located there? 3. AI No big invasion until October 44 in the main campaign (maybe the Schwere Panzerabteilungen at the beaches scared them...) and the winter is coming. I dont know if it makes sense to continue...maybe the AI is confused. But I see it has navy taskforces in England and also at Corsica. There is no ground action and virtualy only the airbattle is fought. Just the russians are coming. What happend? I counterattacked at Sicily. AI pulled divisions out to invade Sardinia and Corsica. The remaining 5 UK division on Sicily where finally trapped and destroyed. After I kicked them out the reinvaded with full force and finally took Sicily, because I pulled due to Air Interdiction and lack of supply my troops out. So the Western Allies sit now in the three Mediterranean Islands and England doing nothing. My troops sit near Rome, Neapel and Caen doing nothing. Does the AI landings in wintertime otherwise I fear the russian will reach Berlin without any Western help. 4. Disbanding Does disbanding make sense? Due to the strange "sitting duck" campaign I dont need all these Volksgrenadier Divisions, Ost Btls and Reserve Infanterie. Better to disband them or send them East? Is it generally better to have many weak divisions or few but with enough manpower? The same question for the Panzer, StuG and Arty SUs? If I disband them will my main divisions (also on the East) get stronger? 5. Refitting & Depots The Gebirgsjäger & Jäger Divisions suffered severe losses in they way out of Sicily. I sended the Munich and Milano to refit on top of Level 4 Depots, but nothing happens for turns? Is there any magic trick or what is my mistake? Is it better to have long distanced between depots or shorter - especially close to the frontline? 6. Immersion - Request: consistent unit names (el hefe) Playing as german player some inconsistencies with the unit names are kind of irritating me. Its kind of mental stumbling upon. 6.1. Typo - Brandenburg Fallschirmjäger Regiment (it is at East Front now wrongly spelled Bradenburg) 6.2. Example name confusion: 818th Gebirgs (German) Pionier (German) Btl 48th Mountain (English) Panzerjaeger (German) Btl 124th Mountain (English) Gun (English) Btl Similar issues for example also with the Italian Air Wings - some have Italian Numbers and some English. I would greatly prefer to have English/English when I play Allies and German/German or Italian/Italian when playing Axis. Why? Because you call the Panzer Lehr Division as it was named and not Armored Training Division. It would be great to have the changes with the next scenario overhaul. Positive Critism is easy, but I know its a lot of work. If you need support with the translation, I am sure me and the other native German speaker here will kindly help. regards and thx
