not that i know of....manual saves..

if i do a save after air , beginning/during ground, each turn t1g..t2g...etc

if i save during my air phase t1a...t2a...etc

t2a..t5g... thats how i name my saves so i can tell at what phase it is.

No. We thought to added at some point, but there was no popular demand.

I'm usually using quick save shortcut 'q' after each major step.

No worries, just had some crashes after the air phase when I am doing lots of stuff and frustrated. Didnt realize there was an auto save button press. Thats perfect. Thanks Pavel
