Venezuela-Netherlands

21-03-2022 Venezuela have captured the carribian islands Aruba en Curacao.

Now you are the commander of the dutch taskdorce.

The Dutch airforce have recieve allready their F-35 fighters.

The Venezuelan airforce have recieve a total of 36 Su-30 and 10 Su-35 fighters. The have also some F-16 fighters.

You have

4 frigates, 2 LPD's whit 4 Apache's and Chinooks, 30 F-35 and 20 F-16, 4 Hercules plane whit para option, 2 Airial tankers and 2 subs at the coast of the islands.

The Dutch goverment have also by in 2020, 2 P-1 MPA aircraft of Japan.

Try to land your LCU's in de marked landing zone at Curacao and Aruba.

And you can drop para's on Curacao whit your Hercules planes.

On Curacao and Aruba you have an marker for your Chinook helicopters to drop infantery.

I have improved the scenario and the briefing.
Carribian 21-03-2022



Venezuela invaded the islands Aruba and Curacao.

You are the commander of the Dutch TF, 2 submarines and the AB Princess Juliana on St. Maarten.

Netherlands have recieve allready 30 F-35. The have still 20 F-16. The Dutch goverment have also purchase 2 P-1 MPA plane's from Japan.

Try to land whit the landing crafts from the taskforce near to the landing markers on the island, an infantry unit will teleport to the location.

Whit your Chinook helicopters on the TF you can come to the Chinook markers on the islands and there come also an infantry unit. The same happens when you come whit your 2 Hercules transport plane to Curacao.



There are reports that there are some Venezuelan submarines in the district. The airforce of Venezuela have recieved a total of 36 Su-30 and 12 Su-35 multirole planes from Russia. The have also buy some AEW aircraft from China. The have still also some F-16's. Reports say that there are also some SAM and SSM units be care about it. The Venezuelan Navy is also very active.

Playing it now. My first comment is that it’s fairly easy to lure the Venezuelan fighters into a 'Flak-Trap', they seem to swoop in on my ASW helo's and then get slammed by the SAMs on the Dutch warships. So far I’ve shot down about 1/3rd of their air force this way.

On the positive side, there was a nice SSM strike, I assume from a sub. If the plan is to have the AI attack the surface group you may which to try a focused strike on the ships coordinated with that SSM strike, timed to arrive before the F-35s can get there. A cagy player could avoid that but a novice would stumble right into it, survivable but fun to defend against. Otherwise I would use prosecution zones to keep my AAW forces out of harm’s way and force the Dutch player to go deep and dig out the defenders - at the same time being exposed to Venezuelan SAMs.

Just some thoughts. Going back in.

this is really pretty good.... im still in the first few hours of the game.... the air battle has been pretty intense... i still havent quite taken control of it.. but gettimg there.... the su 30's are a very able adversary... bloody hard to kill... all the fighting is going on over my task group... i should have sent more air unites out in the beginning.... i almost got overwhelmed... im using a lot of missiles... if i had more assets id raid their bases... but with what i have... i dont think i would get through their air screen..... i was hoping to do some recon by now with the f35's... but their is to much fighting and i can get close....
one thing i did was go into the editor and made Netherlands veteran... which i believe is honest and make their munitions be used more efficiently ... or i think the ships might run out AAW stuff.... before they can launch their assault..... even now im have to micro manage the task group at times so they dont shoot the wad......

after i finnish.... i want to play it again... and start with a big strike.. like launch almost everything and see what i can do...

what gunner says is true....

i am really enjoying this... i wish you would give us a few more choices in strike loadouts.... when you get this scenario polished up.. i believe it will be well thought of... definitely fun and a little work.. which i like....

i believe i finally command the air and am moving in now....

This is a good scenario, quite fun. Below are some points to help improve the re-playability of the scenario and make it more challenging to the player.

I agree with Magi, the Dutch should be Veterans, I'm fairly sure that any NATO country these days has enough training and operational experience to warrant that - certainly one of the original 16's. That would make the A2A a little less concerning - those Su-30 are a PITA.

Magi also has a point on the variety of load outs, and I would go so far as to say the starting load outs. The F-16's are no match for the Su-30s, the commander and staff at Juliana would know that. So I think that the F-35's would be focused solely on A2A at first, with perhaps 2-4 with JASSM's to conduct SEAD, the F-16s loaded with a mix of JDAMs and LGBs with at least 1 possibly 2 of them set up with the Recon Pod. I would put a sever limit on the JASSMs otherwise the player would use them on everything, perhaps no or only 1 or 2 reloads.

I'll re-state my point on the Prosecution zones. This will make the air battle much tougher on the player, so far I have shot down 23 Su-30's and 14 F-16s, over half with ship based SAMs. The fight would be much more difficult if the F-35's needed to go deep and do all that work. To make that a bit more workable, a couple more tankers would we useful. The veteran status would also help. One other side effect of the Venezuelans focusing on sending their A2A towards the ships is that gaps were left behind them and I sent in some Raptors to take out the EW Cubs and Falcons as well as the MPA, these guys would get more protection if the Ftrs hung back.

The SSM strike mentioned earlier came from one of the Lupo's, those Otomat SSMs are nice and outrange the Harpoon by 25%. I have sent 4 Lupo's to the bottom, two from Harpoons and two from Subs. The Lupo's have an advantage with the range of the Otomat - but once they are gone, so is the advantage. A more effective tactic for them would be to steam in pairs, coordinate their attack on the Dutch Ampibs - then change mission using a 'Lua' event and get them out of there, perhaps south of the islands to join the 5th one lingeing there or perhaps further south.

Took apart a couple of Companies of infantry so far - you may wish to add some SA-18's to them, the Zu-23's don't cut it when deployed alone.

I don't think the Dutch actually purchased TLAM's but they are a nice touch. The F-16 recon pod would have been useful for targeting these.

Going back in for the end-game. Have not seen the F-35's yet so I do have some concern on SAM usage for the TF. Have rotated the rear escorts forward and am keeping a steady CAP over them, hopefully that is enough. Re-loading for a second ground strike and then the troops should be going in. Probably at dusk in another 12 hours or so.

OK guys i will work on it maybe it is a better idea to make an taskforce of the Venezuelan frigates. And about the Tomahawks on the Dutch frigates, the don't have Tomahawks but in the Dutch goverment some people speak about it. That's why i place it on some frigates just for the future.

But if some have some more tips i will work about it.

Maybe of somebody any idea to make an other scenario when i finish this.

Also i want to put the new Karel Doorman vessel inside the scenario but she is not inside the DB. Maybe it is an idea for the moderator?

Just survived the Su-35 strike, nicely coordinated with some Su-30s all with standoff weapons and then the last Lupo's Otomat's. Very nicely done. For some reason the F-35's kept coming in and did not RTB, I'd check that, they would have survived to fight again but they came in too close. BTW - I only have 14 ESSM's left in the TF so it was getting a bit tense - anything else out there might get through.

Here is the improval version!

I put more type loadouts inside. And i switch the Dutch to veteran. Also i hope that the AAW aircrafts will not fly over the Dutch TF anymore. And i make a TF of the Venezuelan frigates.

I hope this is better

So far no word at all on Dutch buying any JASSMs. Already acquiring GBU-39 for F-16 though so that would be a good one to put in there.

Also I think in this scenario F-35s would be more likely to use GBU-38s/31s than 12s. I would make 31s, 38s and 39s available for the F-35s and also the F-16s (although 39 load isnt in there yet for them).

also, all your F-16s are B models, as in two seaters, they should be F-16AM single seat models. They never deploy B models to combat and barely have any as well.

Well 27 min into the game and very exciting so far!

A flock of Su-30's and F-16's attracted a bunch of missiles with little effect but they did cover the SSM strike, which was defeated but by using 1/2 of the ESSMs and 1/4 of the SM-2MRs - Ouch.

Much more interesting.

One note, all sides are playable at start-up, including neutrals.

Tomcat - are all the LGB's being replaced by the JDAM's?

Not necessarily being replaced, since GBU-12s are cheap. But fire & forget is nice in a high threat environment.

I agree with gunner... The f35's should start with Air to air loadouts... I would take the tomahawks out… And put SAM's in their place.... With some standoff strike munitions for aircraft loadouts… Would be more realistic and a better balance…
Group your Venezuelan Lupo's is tactically a good idea… pairs at least … Even give them a couple more if you want… Although the Dutch task force might run out of Sam's if you do

When I first loaded of the scenario up… My first impression was with a few loadout and platform choices… The aircraft menu looked monochromatic… With more choices and more variable… it will give the game more depth of feel/Player involvement….
I also think to add atmosphere… Your briefing should have a more professional military presentation to it…. As I suspect sense that English is your second language… I bet you could get one of the guys to help you with it… What might be cool…is to do it in Dutch and have a translation to English…

With your tuning I'm going to start over..... I believe you should assign numeric designations to your Beta's... Like the guys do.. (1.1... 1.2..1.3... Etc..)
This thing is already fun… And when you're finished… I believe it's going to be one of my favorite scenarios… And well received by other players…

well im into the this second version.... i appreciate the changes....
the first hour has been a total air brawl over my task group... now a second wave of attackers are comming... in three groups from three basses around 18 bogies... my second group of defenders are heading to the TF at top speed... dont know whos going to get there first.... almost all my first group is RTB winchester... i have launched or committed to launch all my aircraft with ATA loadouts... both times ive started this scenario i have underestimated how many aircraft i would start with on patrol over my TF...

normally i like to start slow.. i try to play the mission... not the designer..... i chose an indirect initial path to ingress in on... stay undetected.. do a lot of recon to get an idea of red force disposition and a feel for the battle space to help make decisions on how to manage the battle and control the tempo....

well.. thats not gonna happen here... first i reversed the direction of my TF heading NNW at full away from the operation area.. trying to gain some time and space... launched a helo in a near ASW patrol behind to see if i could get some info on the the red lupo group which i new was some where near by... they had a bunch of good search assets out and heading my way which was annoying as they would get a fix on me before i would know where they were.... my group was passive but started to get painted.. and sooo... i decide to take me helo up to 5000 feet and light it up to get a fix on the lupo action group... and as we had discussed restricting your air patrols prosecution area.. i thought id be cool and safe...
well that was a mistake... as all the red su30s and f16s on patrol pinned it and were vectoring in.. real fast... there was a big hi speed merge and all hell broke loose... what a blast... i was so barley ready for it... and while this was going on the red lupo group got enough targeting data on my trailing frigate de zeven and they launched 16 SSM's at it... i had been turning the hold fire button on and off so they wouldn't like empty their magazines on all the bogies.. i barley got free fire on to handle the SSMs and it got down to CIWS to get the last two.... whata blast....

after one hour this is the score card...

at this point... i am on the defense and reacting to the battle... i would never plan to fight this way... like a lot of people would get hurt like this and your mission is at great risk... but to play a game like this is a hoot...

to be the defender and fight offensively can be correct tactical thinking if you have the assets for it.... the Venezuelans as the scenario is set up have a decided tactical and geographical advantage here... especially as the dutch do not have air coverage over their task force at the start of the game.... if i was red... as soon as i had a general location on the dutch... i would launch a major well supported strike on their task force... they would be defeated or mission killed in the first hour or two.....

The final edition.

I worked on all your tips. The AAW patrol adjusted as set the prosecution area. Dutch F-16s modified to F-16AM. The loadouts improved. The SSM attacks improved so that you do not get in early in 1 go. The briefing will improve (that I've done with google translate). If you have conquered both airports on the islands you've won. But do not let one of your sink two LPDs. I really hope he is well sorry for the many inconveniences.

I hope you will play it with pleasure.

Please please please take away the Reccelite pods. Also please please add the GBU-39 bombs. They would certainly be used in this kind of scenario. 100% guaranteed.

what tomcat says... i changed the loadouts on them... the f35s do great recon...
i decided to strike and take out one of reds bases... i dashed in and took out their AEW cub.... something is not right... red has no AAW patrols out at all... trying to attach a screen shot for you...
