Help please.

I have to start off and say I am not a code guy what so ever. I know very little about changing code. That being said....

I just getting back into WIP AE. I had to re install it on my laptop. This time the screen resolution will not adjust to the screen settings of the computer.

What I have tried:

-Adjusting the computer's resolution
-Opening the Properties of the start button file and adjusting the compatibility settings (as administrator too)
-I have tried the switches with various different settings.
-I saw a thread that said there may be an issue with the hyphens used. Tried that.
-I have tried with quotes around the switches
-I have tried re installing

When I set the switches I created the Desktop icon from the root file.

I am not clear on one thing. Do I add the switches in the 'target' from the desktop icon or do I have to go into the actual .exe file to make the change..

Frustrated. Love this game but there is no way I can play it at the existing resolution. Gives me a migraine trying to see it.

Thanks. B

Your switches should be applied to the desktop shortcut that you're using, and that shortcut should target the "War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe", not the "Autorun.exe". Using switches on the first (if used correctly, as noted in some of your comments above) should produce the desired result. If for some reason you are already using switches and targeting the correct file, please post a screenshot of the switches as they look at the end of your executable in the shortcut (or just copy and paste) and someone will tell you where to go from there. The game works on almost every windows laptop and desktop out there, but sometimes it takes a bit of work to optimize.

Maybe a stupid question, but did you update the new install to the last official patch plus whatever beta you desire? The switches were not in the original, as-shipped EXE.

Ok, I'll have to check it out. THANK YOU for getting back with me on this. I'll try and get you a screen shot this evening, Quixote. Bullwinkle58, I think I do have the latest update. Was it released in '12? I'll check that as well.

Quixote, I have an image but I can't figure out how to post it on here.

Here is the target: "C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -f -px1366 -py768

Bullwinkle58 it says that I do have the latest update. Thanks guys.

That's an odd set of pixel numbers, but laptops can be odd. Will trying another set of x,y work? That at least somewhat isolates the issue.

Didn't know that. I haven't bought a laptop since 2004.

You don't have to shake them to erase the screen anymore, either, Moose.

Nor do they start at $3000. Ah, the "good old days."

I was able to get it to fill out in the window mode. Is there a way to make the game larger on the screen. The fonts and icons are very small. Thanks

Nope. It's a trade off. See more map and get smaller on-map icons. I'd love a more modern map interface, but it's a very old engine. The graphics don't scale.

"Is there a way to make it larger on screen?"...it sounds to me like you have not maximized what you can. I am NO techie but I went thru hell to get full screen! For me (Acer laptop) the solution was having the right resolution numbers at the end of the code. Any set other the majic set left me at about 2/3 screen.

I'm no techie...some gents are wizards. On my Acer I right click on the WIPAE shortcut icon...this opens screen with multiple further stuff...open the "Properties" screen. You then change the numbers or lettering in the "target" portion of the file description.

Bull....pls help this gent...my description sounds stupid!
