For some reason my system has decided to reset all the settings - movement delay, tool tip, default settings, etc......now that's not a problem usually - sometimes I guess I import different settings with saved games from my opponents, or whatever.

But this time it isn't letting me save my own preferences - if I select the "classic defaults" for the game options then it sets the display delay back to 1, and apparently vice versa.

I've tried changing 1 setting then saving the game, but it doesn't save the settings.

Has anyone else had this? Got any idea what the problem might be??

Thanks

I have not had this problem, so what follows is theoretical (WAG, SWAG, HDW^2AG...):

I wonder if the changes via choosing menu options are being written to the Opart3.ini file ? (snapshot the file before the change and after, but before restarting TOAW)

Are you shutting TOAW down completely, and restarting it after making these changes ?

Do you have multiple versions of TOAW, and maybe have mistaken 'fixing' one for the other ? (I've got 3.4, 3xB, 3.2..., and I can certainly get confused with tweaking one or another.)

And, I hate to say it, how old is the PC ? Is this type of effect, settings re-setting, options not being written to disk (perhaps) occurring in other applcations ?

HTH

Yes I'm shutting down the game between changes and restarting then loading the same scenario.

The machine is only a couple of months old - it isn't a top FPS line gaming set-up, but it is plenty good enough for TOAW, with a SSD, good 9but not great) video card, 8 Gb RAM, etc.

I do have several opart exe's, but my shortcut only goes to the 3xB one, so I'm not using any of the others.

I will have a look at het ini - that's something I hadn't thought of.

thanks for taking the time to think about it :)
