Over 1,000 Star Trek Milky Way Galaxy systems in the UFP map (Included in the 'maps' folder)
- Race files - Completed. Please report any major issues. Race files can be modified.
- Bias settings - Completed. Please report any issues. Race biases can be modified.
- Policy files - Completed. May require more balance tweaking, please report any issues.
- Victory conditions - Completed. Please report any issues. Race victory conditions can be modified.
- The Borg race shipset size-scaled to near-canon (at least closely!)
- New Governments included - Hegemony, Religious Unity (Race Specific ~ Bajoran only) and Federation (Race Specific ~ Federation (UFP) only)

UI icons and graphics can be modified. Das123 has created his "Das Chrome for Star Trek PE Mod v2.0" UI mod which is fully compatible and is the UI and graphics shown in his YouTube "Let's Play Star Trek The Picard Era" Version 1.0 and 2.0 mod recordings.
- Each Race may have their own specific diplomacy music (located in the Sounds\Effects\[The Race Name]\folder)
4 Files appropriately named: diplomacyMoodAngry ~ diplomacyMoodHappy ~ diplomacyMoodMenacing ~ diplomacyMoodNeutral
- Minimum garrisoned troop per colony set to 4 for defense against invasion or pirate raids.
- Rumors of Crystalline Entity sightings (replaces the Silvermist), see Galactopedia article for more info.
- Select Star Trek Resource images and Component additions. Galactopedia entries have been updated.
- 103 total New Planet Landscapes available for Game Editor use, including Star Trek specific 'Race Homeworld' Landscapes.
- Some weapon effect and sound replacements. More Star Trek 'Faction-Specific' Weapons and components added in the research tech trees.
- Message pop ups appear as Starfleet PADDs.
- Numerous Star Trek sound effects.
- Shakturi and Mechanoids are not overwritten so you can still play the story, just with your choice of the Star Trek races.
- Milky Way Galaxy 4 quadrant star map with Star Trek races' homeworld and owned system placements.
- Numerous Star Trek independent races and pirates spread throughout the galaxy (setting specific).

Installation of Distant Worlds Universe Star Trek The Picard Era Version 2.0 Mod:
(DW Universe-STPE Ver 2)
1. Unzip the file to a temporary or hold directory.
2. Copy the folder 'DW Universe-STPE Ver 2' to your Matrix Games\Distant Worlds\Customization\ folder
3. Run the game and at game main menu select 'Change Theme', then select the 'DW Universe-STPE Ver 2' mod and click 'Switch Theme'
4. If you wish to play a 'close to canon' immersive game, select 'start a classic game', then make sure to deselect 'Enable Return of the Shakturi story Events' from the last game setup screen.
5. You may also choose to play ANY of the other game-type selections with this mod except for 'The Ancient Galaxy' selection, which is its own Distant Worlds Universe mod in itself.
6. You may also choose to play a faction from the included Milky Way Galaxy scenario map, or create a custom game using the Milky Way galaxy map.
*** This Theme should be compatible with many of the UI and Graphic Mods made for Distant Worlds Universe *** (It would be wise to back up any mod files before attempting any modification of such files)
DAS123 (a.k.a. DAS24680) has created a UI and resource mod that is compatible with this mod. It is not a part of the original mod, but we support his work and effort. Its download link will be posted in the DW forum by DAS123.
Please contact a member of the aforementioned 'Trek Team' via the DW forum if you have any issues concerning the mod or post game play inquiries in the forum.
**** The optional "_newcolonyNames" file in the theme directory will name your initial homeworld "Genesis", and will name new planets automatically according to the name order inside the file if you choose to use it. To activate it for use in the game, rename the file to "colonyNames.txt" (see Errata article in the Galactopedia) ****

**** [Edited after release] Just FYI, for any of you who have the 'mysterious' "race_16.png" error, you can download a zipfile that I've prepared that has revised race pictures. Just download the zipfile, then unzip to a hold or temp folder, then copy the entire contents (overwriting all) to the mods' "images\units\races" folder.

Quick question, when you start out as the federation in the custom built map, are your allies supposed to be all angry at you because of your strange alien ways? Also, the races inside of this loose alliance seem to war with each other, especially the ktarians who have imposed multiple trade sanctions on other empires. Also the Dominion is in such close contact that they almost populated Betazed, but I fended off their colony ship with an escort. (Note that I queued this planet for colonization as soon as it was possible.)

Remember two things Knickers;

1. The Map plays as a scenario and race events among other things happen as the game progresses.
Also, those "things that happen", happen differently depending upon the race empire you start with.
2. There were a few 'Distant Worlds' game dynamics that couldn't be worked around while attempting
to make the mod playable in all of the available play-styles. So the "strange alien ways" type of
dynamics often cannot be helped.

Even though DW:Universe is generally moddable, there are many hard-coded items that couldn't be.
Also, in the map scenario, a majority of the races characters (and the skills and traits they have)
will affect their empires relations, but still allow alliances and treaties.

Ah ok, I understand, however a note for a possible future patch that is something that you might be able to fix, keep Betazed within the default federation influence so the Dominion doesn't colonize it. If they do fail to colonize it they will colonize a nearby ocean moon making Betazed uncolonizable still. (Note I queued Betazed for colonization as soon as it was possible.)

Congratulations ehsumrell1 and gang, having followed Das' Lets Play it looks like you guys have made a really great mod here, am looking forward to bringing some glory to the Klingon Empire.

Unfortunately, I am getting an error when I launch the game and change theme to STPE Mod. A dialog box appears and says that the program cannot open the file images/units/race/Race16.png, looks like its the Ferengi (I offered them some Latinum to get rid of the message but to no avail). I am unsure what to try, whether I have the wrong version of DWU installed etc. Any help would be much appreciated.

In reply to zoommooz11. No, you can't set any parameters at the opening map screen. You can choose to play a custom game and set those parameters. I'm sure as soon as ehsumrell1 gets freed up, he will elaborate on you questions. In the meantime, enjoy.

One of the weaknesses with DW:U scenarios is that that pretty much all the settings have to be selected during scenario creation, and you can't change them later.

Very impressive mod, by the way, well done!

Sadly, it doesn't work with my own map, but to be honest I wasn't really expecting it to.

When i start a game i get "This is not a valid Distant World file" Crash to dekstop


please h4lp

i just downloaded and extracted to the custom folder. Switched to the theme and started new game, custome game start ends with the same error and CTD.

Hello Leaddernoir, thanks for your very kind words.

It's very weird that for some mysterious reason the "race_16.png" image bug has popped up again. We
had that in Version 1.0 as well for a few users. Please PM me your computer specs and operating
system you are using
because I'd like to figure out why JUST THIS ONE PNG FILE out of hundreds.
In the meanwhile, you and anyone else that has this problem, please use the attached file instead.
Just copy over the race_16.png file in the mods \images\units\races folder. It the error persists,
please post back. Thanks!
