Haven't pick up this game yet but would like to. Is there a save function/button for Human against AI or does this happen automatically? Thanks.

Each turn is saved automatically as an 'auto.sal' file [this file overwrites itself each time a turn begins]. The game also saves each specific turn as a 'scenario name.sal' file [these do not overwrite, so every turn is automatically saved].

The player can also create save files during a turn, as many as the player likes.

Pick a scenario you might have historical knowledge of, or have an interest in. Nothing too big or you might get overwhelmed and give up.

There are beginner scenarios, a couple are Arnhem or Remagen from here if you might be interested : http://www.dizium.net/TOAW

My personal favorite is one from the classics folder: Barbarosa '41. It's simple but has infinite possibilities. When I'm
between games ( PBEM ) I usually fire up B'41 and run through the first 15 turns or so in one day. Cool little scenario.

I'd like to try Barbarosa '41 but I'm unsure of what advanced game options to use for these older scenarios (from the Classics Folder). What do you recommend?

Let me say this about that. These are the options I would use on B'41. High supply is a new rule since the old version and the older
scenario's were designed for it to be off so I'm using "off" for that. Your results may vary. Play with them and see which gives the
more satisfying results.

What he said, but personally I would recommend 'New Supply Rules' = OFF and 'High Supply' = ON. B'41 has notoriously bad supply, so bad these two options will barely help, but every ounce is needed. Just my opinion.

Yeah, I had forgotten all about how bad the supply was for the Axis. I remember making a MOD of the scenario for just that reason.
I remember giving some RR engineers to the AA units so they could help out in the railroad repair operations. It helped to some
extent.

If any body wanted to play the modded version of Barbarosa '41 that I made I'm attaching it to this post.

I modded it by givjng a lot of the Axis units some RR engineers so that rail repair can keep up with the
front lines. At least that will help the very low supply situation somewhat. It's more fun to play this
version than the original.

And about the file itself just truncate the dot txt off the filename to make it a zip file and then unzip it.
There's no separate equipment file for my mod.

In general for some long campaign games there's a lack of RR engineers. As I have pointed out for The Doc's incredible Road to Moscow - Crossing the border, the Germans were able to repair most of the main RR from Brest-Litovsk to Minsk in less than 14 days. We're talking about 170-200km of rail. If RR units are under a separate command or attached to the Army HQs, even Elmer does a good job in using them for their job and not using the spade-soliders for combat!

See attached; Elmer repaired 150km of RR in 12 days.

In your scenarios, the RR repair-units assigned to a single command works best. Elmer doesn't fritter them away or assigns them to a combat role. Together with 4 auto-repairs per day it works fine. Will see how it works with the Smolensk scenario of Road to Moscow...

Mr. Fulkerson, I downloaded your version of B'41 and in the scenario notes it says that you added Theater Options. When I look at the options there's no description of what they are. It just says "Theater Option 1" with the button to select it. Do you have a list of what options you added? Thanks

Hey there rjantzi dude: Yeah, I was experimenting with the events, learning how to do them you see, and I ran across a way you could
use the events to turn on or off the theater options and I was going to add one and somehow never got around to adding it. D'oh. So
it's not much of a theater option and more of an experiment. It doesn't do anything and it's not a game stopper. Open that bad boy
in the editor and substitute some verbage of your own to the theater option. Good hunting.
