Eyes, Ears and Teeth is the scenario included with the 2.06 update.

This is a small scenario that can be played as NATO, Soviet or Head to Head.

It's on my favorite subject. RECON FORCES!!

Whether you want to use them for their eyes, ears or teeth is up to you. I end up using them in all 3 missions when I play this one. This scenario is intended to be as fluid as I could make it.

Hope you enjoy playing it as much as I did creating it.

Good Hunting.

I found it to be a fun scenario during playtesting. On the level of "A Time to Dance".

Thank you for another excellent (I'm sure, I haven't played it yet) scenario. Your extreme dedication to the "fun" part of this game is much appreciated.

Interesting scenario, and like the way you created this scenario. You were right, they will do anything in order to retake the objective(s) violently. Task Force EET did everything right in order to angering them, and forced them to make mistake(s) on the battlefield.

Nice score Dogma.... I got a 45% marginal victory as Nato.

VERY NICE scenario MR.... this is the size I enjoy. Nice flow and mix of units. Pretty cool having some 'armed' chopper and some 'just looking'. When I saw what the Soviets had left; it would have been hard to stop another advance.

The armed/just looking choppers are what were called a pink team. They were first created in the Vietnam war using Cobra(Red) and OH-58's(White). (Together known as Pink.) The OH-58's would go in low and draw fire and the Cobra's would then respond with fire of their own.

Good Hunting.

Excellent Scenario, had a great time with it. I was a tad upset when I lost 2 M1s to a couple of Tunguska's firing from 3000m away but in the AAR the M1s were fallen out and not destroyed so I suppose they could have been damaged enough that they couldn't fight anymore. In any case you folks have created and outstanding game that I have been privileged to play for over a year now and the 2.06 improvements are great.

Jack54, thank you.

It was fun scenario, and giving me a chance to experimenting with Cavalry scouts (to give me eyes, ears and pinpointing their FSEs with an artillery.)

its another gem in the scenario list. Playable in a couple of hours and capable of developing in lots of ways.

Given how powerful that NATO artillery unit is, good recon (or good screening) becomes critical as I've seen entire sub units evaporate under a strike from it. Game seems to start from an ambush and then develop either into a sequence of running battles or a bit of a slog around the central urban area - think the latter occurs if the Soviets manage to pin the NATO taskforce so the MRR can engage.

So with NATO, its important not to get sucked in or pinned, no matter how attractive the target is, with the Soviets it rewards their aggressive model of recon by combat. Sacrifice one of the recon battalions to fix NATO while the other probes on the edges and into the rear?

Also interesting to see the mix of 1970s tanks (M60s/T-64s) with lower lethality mixed in with the usual 1990s stuff from other scenarios.

The OH-58 sounds like a punishment detail.... next play-through I'll try using the 'pink' approach; I used them separately last time.

To: Colonel Puchov, commanding Red Storm Recon

A mate and i played this as a PBEM H2H with limited orders (me as NATO) and Red trounced me. I thought I got a good start using a combo of helos to spot and assault; and on-call arty to really pummel units my recon found, but once Red's MRR and Tanks hit the field, I got smashed. I didn't have enough orders (4 per turn) to reposition, blow bridges and resupply. Red's Hinds quickly depleted my armour resources even though my SAMs were quick to swat them.

Any tips on winning this as NATO please? I probably didn't push far enough forward at the start because I didn't want to have limited roads for repositioning north-south once I identified their plan. I stuck just west of the objectives but should have probably pushed further east. Any hints appreciated.

I have never played H2H using limited orders. The scenarios haven't been balanced for that mode. Not sure that NATO can win this one in that mode of play.

Good Hunting.

Thanks Mad Russian. Can I ask a follow-up clarification question please? I really enjoy the pressure of limited orders. Is there a way to tell which scenarios are balanced for that (or maybe which scenarios ought not be played with limited orders) in H2H games?

thanks

As MR said, no scenarios is balanced for limited orders. That is for when you get proficient and need to increase the difficulty of conditions to remain challenged. You could certainly use limited orders to play balance an experienced player against someone new to the genre.

And consider this: at the beginning of the majority of scenarios, units have received Operations Orders and would have formulated and issued their on Operation Orders to subordinate units. With limited orders turned off, this is modeled with no order delay for the first turn orders. Even the scenarios where units are activating in garrison, those units already have orders (and have extensively rehearsed those initial deployment from garrison actions. So limited orders at that point really doesn't make sense.
