Hello guys,

after a year or so, I've managed to persaude myself to finish something. This scenario is the product. It's classic CVBG vs CVBG action in South Atlantic.

quote:

Royal Navy vs. Brazilian Navy
Date/Time: 11th August, 2019 / 02:00:00 Zulu
Location: South Atlantic Ocean
Playable Sides: Royal Navy

Background

The growing tension between United Kingdom and Brazil reached climax during the summer of 2019. Repeated presence of Brazilian Navy in territorial waters of British overseas territories resulted in the harsh measures against Brazil. British government decided to no longer accept violations of it's sovereignty and hastily ordered transit of CVBG centered around HMS Queen Elizabeth to vicinity of Saint Helena and Ascension Island.

This is fictional ASW / ASuW / AAW scenario with a duration of two days.

It turned out to be quite playable on the end, although it might be too easy for Royal Navy due to technological difference of the fleets and aircraft.

Any comments, bug reports, etc. are welcome as always!

EDIT: Version 2 is up

Changes:
- UK F35s are down to one squadron
- Brazil bought two new FFGs as planned
- One E-3 instead of Tornados
- Sea Kings for AEW onboard of UK CV
- Other minor stuff

EDIT: Final version up

Changes:
- Some minor doctrine/WRA/emcon stuff

Thanks everyone (you know who you are) for testing!!

Sequel to Clash Of Titans is already in progress

Too easy from the British side!, Brazilian fleet wiped out with just 4 F-35 lost, it would be for sure a challenge from the Brazilian side...

Another idea for a scenario would be MERCOSUR (i think i spelt that right ) VS the royal navy. Essemtially all of South America except for Chile.

I'm afraid it was a bit easy!

Also I would have thought the Royal Navy would have had either a Sea King ASaC or the new Merlin version, or an E-3 from Ascension Island. Also perhaps more Brimstone on the QE would be helpful!

Perhaps it would be worth including some other south american ships/subs to assist brazil?

Hi,

One thing I was thinking was that the UK won't have that many F-35B, you could reduce the number. Also I wonder if instead send just a surface action group from the UK instead to make it more even.

Cheers.

Thanks for ideas guys.

Wot i think:

1) MERCOSUR instead of just Brazil is a good idea, but quick look on capabilities of other South American navies hints otherwise.
2) E-3 is good idea, I will use it instead of Tornados.
3) Sea King should be gone by 2019, but I will put in Merlin HEW, which is on order (and there's Italian variant in DB).
4) Reduction of F-35Bs to only one squadron is a good idea and should help to balance the scen.
5) Brazil is eyeing several new frigates under it's PROSUPER program. I think that two new FREMM frigates wouldn't hurt.
6) I think that Sao Paulo CV had replaced it's vintage Mistral SAMs with more sophisticated Aspide 2000, but I can't confirm that.

Nice scenario concept.

Some time ago, more precisely in July of last year, the HMS Ambush along with the USS Dallas and the French submarine Améthyste came to visit my country as guests of honor at an event here in Rio de Janeiro.

The Ambush when seen up close, is a robust and scary submarine. I would be sad for Navy ships of my country if they had to fight this modern monster in a hypothetical conflict.

Great scenerio, I liked it. I would like to have the option of using the Brazilian side too.

Thanks

good scenario,
i liked the concept

wow, BRIMSTONE , what a truly awful weapon system.
Does the RN/RAF not have a dedicated ASM ?

Sadly, no. Last decent AShM was Sea Eagle, but it's not integrated with any of their current platforms.

They're working on Brimstone derivative Spear 3 though, with expected 100km+ range and capability to strike naval targets.

I just started this up and did a rebuild using the .ini file, two things I noticed straight away are that the QE carrier has no fuel and the F-35B is equipped with Brimstone, rather than the Brimstone 2.

Cheers

Well Brazil were considering buying Sea Gripens (sadly not in the DB yet, but basically carrier-based Gripen NGs) for future carrier aviation. I think having those replace the Skyhawks would make things a bit more challenging for the Brits.

Yes, although Brazil have cancelled their carrier which will mean that the Sea Gripen will never be built.

True, but then again a little creative licence can be allowed (and other countries are also looking into the Sea Gripen, including India). It's not like hypothetical aircraft are strangers to CMANO, anyway...

Nice scenario, thank you.
But the combination of F35 and Astute SSN is a bit too tough for the poor brazilians. I won without a scratch.

Maybe a first 2000's version with Argentina help would be more challenging
