The most problem is that the Aardwarks do not have range to reach the target.
So I had to go in with ships only.

Did run Perry frigate straight ahead and had the shore battery expend all shells on it; the frigate then sunk to fire/flooding.

After that, the rest was pretty straightforward with Perth engaging everything on shore with guns until out of ammo.

Spend some SAMs on incoming missiles, and two torpedoes on a whale. Figured out no chance rebels get a submarine, but fired torpedoes regardless, just to be on a safe side.

The Aardvarks not having the range to reach the target when the briefing specifically tells you to do this to protect your fleet is a huge issue in this scenario. The addition of 1 KC-30A would fix this.

Australia did not have the capability to re-fuel its F-111s in flight during their careers (the F-111s need tankers with probes, and the RAAF's 707s were only equipped with the drogue system, and didn't become available until the late 1980s/early 1990s). Some commentators have suggested that Australia deliberately didn't acquire probe-equipped tankers as extending the F-111s' already impressive strike range by this much could have sparked an arms race in South East Asia.

When I last played this scenario I was able to get the F-111s to Vanuatu.

For the revised version, I'm assuming an American KC-135 is being made available to the Australians. Not having a tanker available did make the scenario more challenging, but given the nature of the mission, I suspect the U.S. would have been willing to provide some assistance.

I have tweaked the scenario in a few other ways, too, which I hope have improved it.

Once the official 1.07 release is out, I will update the scenario to the latest version of the database and re-post it. I am interested in hearing what people have to say about this new version.

Flying from Brisbane and toping up tanks in Norfolk Island would be plausible.

My mistake: I just replayed it, and in the more recent DB they can't. It still stands as a good scenario :)
