So...I usually set all my aircraft to AUTO upgrades..as the western allies it seemed to work really well.

I noticed that one of my F190F/G squadrons flipped into something called a Go145. I'm thinking Go145? Never heard of it.

I look at my pools and see almost 200 Ju87D's....none of which are actually in a unit. Those I heard of.

So I look it up on Wikia.

Seriously? A 1934 Biplane? Why even put it in the game (although I read it was used as a Harrasment Bomber on the Russian front).

Most of the pilots in that squadron have like 90 exp. They must have loved it when their Fw's were taken away and told they get to fly these instead.

I manually gave them Ju87D's. Wish there was someway I could delete the Go145's from my pools.

Go 145 !!!

Now, that is funny...and unfortunate...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gotha_Go_145

The Gotha Go 145 was a German World War II-era biplane of wood and fabric construction used by Luftwaffe training units. Although obsolete by the start of World War II, the Go 145 remained in operational service until the end of the War in Europe as a night harassment bomber.

It is probably worth to clear them from scenario pools.

Do you have a save prior the logistics when it happened?

I will look into the icon. Is there an option to switch-off swaps to this type? They are only intended for EFBox use as replacements for existing groups.

Alas it was on my server game so no save that I can go back to. Plus I wouldn't know exactly when it happened anyways as I parked my bombers in the interior and let them sit for at least a dozen turns before I looked at them. Oh wait..I can look at the logs.

There is an option already to switch off swaps to Go145. It's called MANUAL

How large were The Pools?
I remember a similar problem in the beginnings of WITE. Groups swapping to worse planes on auto.
If I look at your list the problem might be back. Switching from Ju 88 D to the Fi 156c is also not what you want to see.
I really have forgotten what the problem was but they fixed it. Guess it had something to do with the number of planes in the pool.
I will run a search. I might find something.

Well..I am beginning to wish I had those Go145s in the squadron. The Ju87D's got wiped out on the ground when a vengeful allied airstrike took them out along with a lot of FW190F's.

Apparently he didn't like me destroying 100 typhoons on his airbase

I should add that I am seeing a lot of Fi156c's as well..but that doesn't bother me as you steadily lose REC planes as you use them....although the really short range of around 12 hexes makes it hard to use them to see Corsica

Found it. Title is German air upgrades in recon air groups. Was in 2013.
Problem was that for swapping planes a group had to be under strength and the pools for that plane had to be low. On Auto German recon groups switched from he 126 or Bf 110 or Ju 88 to Fi 156c.
There was just a recon plane class, no long range or short range. So since the pools of the Fi 156c were large, voila. As I said. Long since fixed.
Maybe it is a similar issue here
Fw 190 F or G are Ground Attack aircraft. So is the Go 145 ( actually night harassment but still ground attack).

No. There is no issue. If pools are low it can be swapped. All planes are of the same type.

I should clarify that I wasn't complaining about any sort of game mechanic. It was more of an observation and critique of my gaming skills in having the Go145 in a unit in the first place.

The solution would be to block auto-swapping to Go 145 (but not from).
For the recon swaps between tac and strat recon, the swap function could use air profiles as an additional factor with profile mismatch adding a negative modifier.

Swapping a Go 145 into a SchnellKampfGeschwader is pretty amusing, though.

Not that I'm complaining, either. The solution's easy: manual upgrades.

Thought I would resurrect this old post, rather then start a new one.

I noticed that in my new PBEM game, once again the Go145 is swapped into one of my Tac Bomber squadrons on AUTO.

Rather then swap them back out and put the squadron on manual, I thought I would try something different...

I parked that squadron in the back and put them on training.

Now they are happily bashing up the biplanes, and I have managed to not lose very many pilots. I have even gained an average of around 6% for the squadron experience. And I've almost lost half the pool of Go145's.

I will keep this up until the computer decides to swap them back out for something a bit more modern. If not, then I will give them some brand new HS129's for their hard work.

Even in game pilot training sometime can be useful.
