To the air-battle over Antwerp. Who do the Allies wish to destroy?

Front bomber please.

In all combats Allied bombers will fight to the end. Fighters will abort if there are no bombers left on either side.

The leading Me-109's target the front formations of the RAF, shooting the Harrows out of the sky. When in turn engaged by the Hurricanes they dive away and bug out.

The Hurricanes turn their attention to the German bombers and shoot the Do-17's down. However, they are caught from behind by the second wave of Me-109's and also shot down (both sides rolled 5 DX).

A prolonged dog-fight ensues between the remaining Wellingtons and Me-109's. Initially, neither side can gain an advantage (Allies 8, Axis 9 for NE). The Wellingtons jettison bombs for extra speed and manoeuvrability and dive away for home. Low on fuel and ammo , the Me-109s are forced to break off pursuit and land.

Over the French armoured army, both sets of fighters engage each other allowing the bombers through to target. Honours even, they waggle wings and head back to base.

Over Egypt, the Whitley's decide not to put the maxim "the bomber will always get through" to the teat.

Okay, I'm having a problem with the air combat freezing when it comes to the third in the sequence. No matter which order I run it, the third one shows a screen like this, missing the 'combat chosen' button. The above results for the Egypt combat were obtained from re-ordering the sequence but the third one still froze.

Did you try to press F10 and close that form? There might be a hidden window which is forced on top if you do this.

I replicated combats and same thing happened to me. I played it from HQ support until air to air combat.

I have encountered similar problems in the latest game version and noted so in bug reports.

I do not think Axis are in a bad position. If things get bad in Manchuria, can Japan surrender to USSR? I agree with the assessment that USSR could be in trouble, but Japan would have to stay in the war and keep defensible lines. Japan needs to build out its land and land based air units.

As Germany I like to put 75% vs the French in S/O'39...a variant of "Fall Gelb", so that starting M/A'40 I'm already on the French border (occupy all of Belgium). As soon as it turns fine weather in M/A I attack into France...my goal is that by the end of M/J'40 I have Paris.

Russia-Japan Peace option is not coded, so Japan can't surrender. (Force a peace is actually a better term.)

I have to tell you all my rookie mistake.

During my impulse 1 I checked situation in Egypt: No Italian bombers, fighters are not able to intercept to my RSA inf. Italy can make some 15:10 blitz (my inf 5, artillery 3 and bomber 2). I missed that bomber hiding behind a fighter :)

If I would have seen it I would have taken land action to bring 4-2 mil to front line. I guess CW need better intelligence what is going on behind the front line.

"As soon as it turns fine weather in M/A ..."

Ah, fine weather. A somewhat rare and scarce commodity in this game to date. There was briefly an impulse of fine weather in M/A 40, before the usual storms and blizzards ensued. That was only the second impulse of fine weather for the whole game to that point (the first being the opening S/O 39 impulse).

Still, it has slowed up the Soviets in Manchuria, so not all bad.

Well, if it's any consolation, I'd been figuring the odds at 15:5 having forgotten about defensive artillery.

In this case it would appear two wrongs can actually make a right (potential FUBAR).

Success in getting round the game freezing. By trial and error I found by running the air-combat over Antwerp second and when the two Me-109's were left in control of the skies, the program proceeded okay to the final combat. I've therefore been able to use the 'set die rolls' function to recreate the losses and clear through's correctly, with only a minor change to the Antwerp combat. In that one no Me-109's were lost, so it didn't matter.

After the various ground support factors are accounted for, the attacks go in as below.

At Antwerp, the initial objectives are swiftly taken and the assault proceeds to shatter defence. The CW don't go down without fighting and half the assault corps will need reinforcements before being combat ready again. Which unit do the Allies wish to destroy?

Meanwhile, in Egypt, the Italians show the Germans how this new fangled Blitzkrieg thing they've been banging on about actually works.

However, at least one of those troublesome Cav units in Manchuria has been taken care of.

Noting the arrival of Soviet air-power, two Jap fighters rebase to Mukden.

A Me-109 rebases from Germany to Belgium.

Von Rundstedt re-orgs 3 land units, an artillery and a Stuka.

The weather roll is a 3.

Overall pretty good results, CW did not hold Antwerp till 1941... I'm relieved you rolled 5 in exactly right combat.

Allies will counter attack!

A good 20-30, possibly more as I wasn't counting. It was only by chance I got the right result to get past the bug yesterday but it did happen again with the experimentation. After that it was noting the parameters, recreating the scenario and testing the bug was worked around. Once I knew how to get around it, I could reproduce the combats in such a way as to keep the original results. I did also get past the bug on one occasion when I had started with Antwerp and ran the Belgium combat second but I never managed to recreate that.

M/J 1940 Allied 3

No DoW

CW and US combined, USSR, China and France land.

NAVAL
CW brings MIL and 2x INF div from India to Suez. Spitfire is transported from Gabon to Cape Town.
How stupid must a man be to choose a 3 range Trans for a mission to take Spitfire from UK to Egypt? This may take a while, but once we get it there it will start raining Italian planes...

GROUND STRIKE
Nationalist Chinese are testing their luck by ground striking with factor 1 as Japanese fighters left to Manchuria. If target is hit, land troops will put them OOS and make a brave attack.
CW is bombing Brussels with Wellington, escorted by Nimrod.

Does Germany want to intercept Brussels with last remaining fighter in Belgian front? If so, where does it land (assuming it survives confrontation with mighty RAF)?

EDIT: 48,8% to hit something in Brussels.
