Just noticed that the new release will have some great Air only scenarios which are most welcome. I was wondering is the game model limited to the commodities present or can the economy be tweaked to introduce new layers like steel, coal and Aviation fuel. With air being a strong suite and eventually more representative as balance improves with use I think the economic model would benefit from some more layers and would probably justify a module in its own right further down the road. Off course if the answer is no it's hardly the end of the world.

It's the dislocation of the Reich, air land and sea that fascinates me and differentiates the war in the east with that in the west. I'm not sure I would get the same out of just bombing per se, its seeing the effect a Mossie strike wing intercepting a North Sea ore convoy bound for the heavily bombed port of Bremen because Rotterdam is interdicted and the subsequent strain that puts on the rail net has on my drive across France. For that WitW is really the only game in town.with that potential.

I agree that would be fascinating.

The freight system is really good but it is focused on the difficulties front line units have - how it might be expanded to resources adds another huge dimension. Arguably the raw materials flow in the opposite direction. That said rail and port congestion is modelled. I'm not sure that my computer has the processing power for freight and raw materials to be modelled separately and I have an average setup.

From a scenario designer perspective current production changes are a nightmare as they are not generic data; so when we change one factory every scenario needs amending. Reverse engineering more complexity to the system would force my resignation even if I like the idea. For the forthcoming 4th Supreme Command scenario I did a fair amount of production research as one of the scenario tenets is Germany has its own oilfield at Wietze. I agree that ideally coal and steel should be separate along with oil and probably a generic resource capability but then you would need to have heavy industry factories that consume more than one item to create supplies as a minimum.

The modular system means todays mechanics can be replaced by better ones if they are dicovered. If they are not it is only a disappointment for idealists rather than I say the end of the world. There might even be a good basis for U Boat module if that ever comes together.
