For those with more experience with modding.

Does this setting

'Can Change Government: Y/N value. Determines whether race can manually change governments during the game
CanChangeGovernment ;Y


prevent the AI empires from changing to Way of Ancients/Way of Darkness when set to N?

The modding guide is vague. I know it works to prevent me as a player from changing government types, but I'm unsure if it affects the AI.

I ask because I've got a game set up where I want certain empires to stay 'good guys' and they keep swapping to Way of Darkness. It's irritating. I'm going to try this setting in a new game, but since finding the special government types is well...luck of the draw, I won't know if it worked or not unless well, one of my good guy AI empires finds Way of Darkness and swaps to it.

I've tried the dissallowed governments setting, but that does not seem to affect the AI empires when it comes to WotA or WoD.

Never tried this one but I would imagine the fastest way to test it would be using the editor. Stick a ruin on a planet right next to their homeworld and have it contain which ever of the special governments you want to test. Then keep and eye on that race to see what happens. If you started the game as a tiny galaxy with just you and them, then spawned one of your ship types in their space you would have instant contact achieved too.

I can now confirm that no, this setting will not prevent AI empires swapping to WotA or WoD government types.

That really needs to be fixed.
