Since the v1.07 open betas, I have been noticing that aircraft do not ignore plotted course when attacked for me any more. I actually brought this up on the main forum a bit ago, but quickly backed down because when I went into the editor to test the behavior, my planes ignored their plotted courses as they had in v1.06. Today, I was playing the Frisian Flag scenario, and noticed again that with "ignore plotted course when attacking" on, planes would continue to follow their plotted courses.

I have used the Frisian Flag scenario for convenience's sake. The 4-ship of F15s labelled "Original" are the scenario creator's aircraft launched from Leeuwarden. The 2-ship of F15s labelled "Test" are ones I added in the editor. Both groups have "ignore plotted course when attacking" as "yes." Just before I saved this, I F1-ordered both groups to attack the MiG 29Ks off to the east. On my computer, the test group turns into the MiGs and engages afterburner. The original one continues on plotted course at cruise speed until it hits the end, after which it too turns to engage.

Thanks for your time! I hope this is just me being stupid again.

There seems to be something just plain screwed up with that scenario. I launch aircraft and they do all kinds wierd things around the courses. I launched two F-18s and they seemed to think they were on a mission that doesn't exist and they are listed as on plotted course. They always wanted to go to the nearest ref point unless I manually F3ed them.

I built my own scenario and everything worked as it should.

Well, that's strange. I have not seen those sorts of issues with that scenario. I'm curious though, does ignore plotted course when attacking work properly for you? When I build my own scenario, it does; further, when I add planes with the editor to any existing scenario, it does for them. But when I load up any user scenario or official scenario, the planes placed in them by default do not respond to the "ignore plotted course when attacking" doctrine option. Is this not the case for you?

Haven't tried it or noticed it.

Strange. I took a look at it. For some reason the individual units in the group are not accepting the group's doctrine. You can see this by selecting the group and noticing that it is set to yes (inherited). If you then press "PageDown" to go to Unit view, and click the individual units, you will see that they are all set to No.

To fix it, go back to group view, select the group, open the doctrine window (Ctrl + F9) and at the bottom click "Reset affected units (inherit from above Doctrine)". That seems to get the individual units back in line.

I see the Leeuwarden Air Base is also set to No, but resetting it does not affect any newly launched groups. They all launch with it set to No for some reason.

Actually, I just realized, to fix it for all units, go to the side Doctrine window (Ctrl + Shift + F9) and in that screen hit "Reset affected units (inherit from above Doctrine)" (it will take a few seconds).

That fixes it for everyone for me.

I was told on another bug report thread that the doctrine view of a unit will not be correct when it is for a non-playable side. That may be what's happening here.

It works! Thanks so much. It's really odd though that they showed up as having the correct doctrine inherited beforehand. I guess I'll just mash that button when in doubt from now on!
