See the air losses below. There was also the curious effort of some IJ merchants to presumably resupply troops at Tavoy. They didn't make it. quote:

Allied Ships Bombarding Babar Allied Ships Bombarding Pagan Four YMS were dispatched to Chichi Jima to help nurse Quincy to Iwo Jima, but she sank as noted above. Then they hit a minefield, whereupon all of them were hit by shore guns watching the mines. In daylight a swarm of Bettys came in two raids, sinking three of the little helpers and leaving the fourth in woeful condition. But they did not drop bombs or torpedoes or fire guns. The breeze was enough. The survivor will try to make Iwo Jima. But we found the minefield. The USA 158th Rgt will try an attack tomorrow. Recovered to 63 AV and with negligible disruption and fatigue, they might stand far taller than the defenders who have been slammed by attack bombers for days on end. Two more divisions for Cam Ranh Bay begin loading tonight. Two convoys that loaded infantry yesterday are loading supplies. SWPac HQ will be in place on Balabac, with the 2x range needed. The corps HQ will be loaded a little behind the other troops but will land with them or right behind them. The flankers also begin loading tonight and will land with the main invasion (to cut the rail line on both sides). Fast battleship Massachusetts has finished upgrade at Pearl Harbor and is on the way, but of course will miss the invasion. KB has retired westward! Presuming that the KB will replenish at Singapore, 26 more subs are leaving Manado tonight for stations to intercept those carriers if they sally to oppose the CRB invasion.
