Belgium is a lot easier if you have a para ready.

Yes but Holland should be automatic. I used the Para because of the weather.

Yes. But maybe the para would have been better used by landing in Rotterdam. It would have lowered the odds on Amsterdam but then attacking Belgium might have been easier.

Edit: I seldom make automatic attacks on Holland.

Of course and we have choices and decisions to make. For my part, time is moving on and I did not want to risk throwing a 1, taking losses and getting disorganised just to get Amsterdam. Suffice to say I was not counting on Snow in Mar/April....

Mar/Apr often has lousy weather.

Storm and Blizzard are worse than snow but that is no comfort at all when you do have the snowy weather.

The Germans declare war on the Belgians

The Italian declare war on the CW and French

Can you let me know where you want to set up the Belgians please?

Belgium aligns with CW.

The CP and territorial set up in Boma, Belgian Congo.

See picture for how the land units set up in Belgium.

The US get all upset over Italy joining the fray - but seemingly couldn't give two hoots about the attack on Belgium. Congress is equally unimpressed by Hungary aligning with Germany.

The Italians call out the reserves.

The RM puts to sea in all areas of the Mediterranean - but once again fail to find the enemy convoys...

The Japanese try some strategic bombing and get a result against Chungking.

Rundstedt uses up an Offensive Chit.

An HS123 and a Stuka seek out the CW units in Rotterdam.

Do the CW fly their Hurricane in defence? The Germans can reach with 4 fighters.

Yes, CW intercepts with the Hurricane. If it survives or aborts it will land in UK.

The Luftwaffe call up an Me-109 and He-112 to support the bombers. Allied throw first:

11 - (DC) The Germans send the Stuka through.
8 - (DA) The Hurricane is aborted (and Harwich is the only UK base I can get it to).

Well I've never had that before - but very welcome it is. The Henschel was redundant in the attack.

The Germans rail an INF to Trieste.

The Japanese get up close and personal in China but I suspect an attack is just too risky with -2 odds I will look at this at the combat declaration stage.

I do not have the cojones to attack at 2:1 or 3:2 with no modifiers on the Assault table in China....

Attention moves to Rotterdam. Odds are currently 4:1. Do the CW want to use shore bombardment?

The Royal Navy intervention brings the odds down to 3:2. Rundstedt is called upon for HQ Support.

The Germans bring in two bombers and a 5-quality fighter. The RAF can attack with two 5-quality Spitfires and the Germans can bring in two Me-110's. Do the RAF want to respond with FTR/LND?

Edit: Weird? I assume the odds have "gone up" again to 2:1 on the basis HQ support works? Nothing else has changed...

The Germans bring in one of the two Zerstorer. Allies to throw first.

13 (No Effect)
13 (No Effect)

Assume the CW stay around

14 (DA) The Germans abort the Henschel
2 (AX) The Germans destroy the Spitfire (the pilot survives).

The odds are now +4/-4 I assume the Battle retires?

Edit: I cannot see Orm around so in the interests of time I shall abort the bomber. This on the basis of the odds and the fact that even if cleared, the odds would not change.

The air battle comes to an end and is unlikely to affect the odds - unless fractional odds comes into play.

HQ support works with a throw of 4.

So two attacks. Liege is of course automatic.

Rotterdam is anything but. 2:1 but with a +3 on the Assault table which means a 6 or more is required or the Offensive chit is a total waste of time......

...8 The defender loses two and the third is Shattered. I think Shattered and conversion are the same in this case i.e. the division can retreat south??

Can you confirm please Ormster?

I take the militia and the division as losses.

Then you can retreat the infantry corps through the Belgian units in Antwerp or shatter it.

Edit: How much do you want for your die? You want to trade it with mine?

I'll take your strategic bombing, naval interception and initiative dice - I'll pay top dollar!

In all seriousness - I think whilst I got lucky with the dice, the need to spend an Offensive Chit is a massive win for the Allies.

Indeed. I am all smiles so I can make jokes about dies.

Edit: Naval interception? I must have forgotten something.

So here is the result. The 7-3 get to live another day sadly and I still have to get through Belgium before thinking about France...

A couple of air rebases for the Germans and one for the Japanese. HQ reorganisaton for von Leeb and von Bock.

And that brings that impulse to an end.

No declarations of war.

Both CW and France take land impulses.

No Port Strikes. No naval air.

USA transfer three battleships from the East Coast to the West Coast.

No strategic bombing. No ground strikes.

CW and French forces move into Belgium.

CW rebase two fighters to Belgium/France.

No land combats. No reorganization.

Edit: End of Turn roll was a three so the turn continues.

Oh good - its raining....

I cannot get anything more than a 2:1 in Belgium so that ends any thoughts of progressing there.

The Japanese do a Land and the other two a Naval.

The Italians put FTR and NAV into the Western Mediterranean. The Germans put a floatplane into the North Sea - well by that I mean in the skies above the sea zones hopefully.....

The Kriegsmarine head for the North Sea along with supporting U-boats.

For the RM, a cruiser heads for the Eastern Mediterranean. A TRS lands in Tobruk with a TERR and the rest of the RM heads for the Western Med.
