was curious if this game runs in windows 8. It runs fine on my windows 7, but installed it on my wife's laptop (windows 8) and it runs but takes forever to do anything, let alone scroll the map

I got War Plan Orange to work in Windows 8.1 by creating a short cut directly to the WarPlanOrange.exe file, adding -w after the program name in the shortcut [so it starts as a window], and setting the file to use windows 7. The display window is small, does not appear to allow resizing, but all the slowdowns scrolling the map go away and program routine steps execute quickly.
