reading the manual, I see this rule:

quote:

6.5.3.1. Coordination
Regiments fighting together adjacent to the same enemy unitcan receive
significant bonuses to their combat damage, but these bonuses are only possible
when the attacking regiments are from the same brigade and the brigade
commander has made his “brigade coordination” check for the current game
turn. This check is based on the commander’s Tactical rating. The chances of
making this check each turn are indicated by the “Coordination: X%” line to
the left of a brigade commander’s portrait.

I am trying to understand this properly

so the regiments in the same brigade have to be adjacent to the enemy unit, but not necessarily adjacent to each other?

and two regiments within a brigade that are adjacent to each other but are two hexes from the enemy will NOT receive this bonus?

shoulder to shoulder boys fight better than with a space in between, gives morale and damage boost as concentrated fire on a smaller target, larger the space, wider the shots, so less damage

i think...

I guess (like zakblood) that they have to be adjacent as well, check 9.4 Brigade Coordination bonus.

I think so.

i was hoping one of the mods / developers would as how i see it, may be different and not fully correct, i place units in line, and have or try and have the units from the same brigade next to each other when fighting and under HQ control where ever possible to get the added bonus, but any 2 units are better than on your own in a fire fight tbh, but yes you may or may not then get the bonus, reports give the answer better than i can explain it...

thank you. I hadn't read as far as 9.4 yet, but that rule does seem to explain it a bit better

quote:

Brigade Coordination bonus: When two or more units from the same
brigade attack an adjacent unit while adjacent to one another they get
a significant bonus for being able to flank or rake the enemy unit from
at least one angle. While such “brigade coordination” automatically
becomes possible whenever such a situation exists on the battlefield,
the bonuses are only achieved when the commander passes a brigadecoordination
check based on his “Tactics” rating]

other than rule 6.5.3.1 does not say the same thing as rule 9.4 :)

Well, they say the same thing, just one of them includes an additional detail re: the need for the units to be adjacent to each other as well.

Soooo...probably they should say the same thing (just my opinion).

This is a great game BTW. I so far seem to suck at it, which makes me like it even more!

took me 6 hancock/ewell scenarios and about 3 blackburn fords to get it. Next up I try to tackle Mill Springs then maybe some day I can even try Manassas.

you only get out what you put in, so as long as you have time, all battles are about the same, as long as you master the basics that is, Manassas is the daddy of all battles and is not only fun to play, but great on either side and can be a challenge first time you play it, over time it takes you many tries to do a all 5 star win, but it can be done by either side and so far for me is the best after you have fully played all the others.
