Is there supposed to be something special that happens after you defeat the Shakturi? I've beaten them in three different games and nothing has happened afterward. If there's not supposed to be anything that's fine I just don't want to be missing out on anything. I was expecting some big speech from the Guardians.

I did some digging around and found that the Guardians are supposed to congratulate me, deactivate, and hand over Utopia. Any one know why they might not be doing that? Talking to some other people who play there is also supposed to be a "We are getting our asses handed to us, have a world destroyer." speech I'm not getting either.

I've gotten both those events playing with my mod, starting as custom game with all events enabled, pre-warp. Maybe which game settings you're choosing? Maybe make sure you're on the latest version?

I'm currently playing Pre-Warp start. Maximum Galaxy size and number of stars, and I'm playing as Quameno. Standard for everything else.

I'm using version 1.9.5.10.

Should I wait around and let the Shakturi beat up the Guardians before going on the offensive? I could've just tried this, but I wanted some feedback before starting the Shakturi slog again. In each game I've been pretty aggressive about attacking the Shakturi.

If you aren't letting the Shakturi live long enough to cause the Ancient Guardians any problems, then it would seem reasonable that the Ancient Guardians never send you a message saying anything along the lines of "we're hurting quite badly. Here's a planet killer; please help." After all, it'd make sense for that particular trigger to be tied to how well the Ancient Guardians are doing in their war against the Shakturi, and if you're crushing the Shakturi well enough that the Shakturi cannot really do anything to the Ancient Guardians, well, I think we can both see where this is going.

As far as the lack of a congratulatory message goes, I have no idea. Maybe the "here's a planet killer; please help" message is required for the congratulatory message.

You at least need to get the message about "do you wish to join the good guy alliance" - if you haven't joined the Machines vs. the Shakturi - I doubt that the rest will happen.

Oh yeah I'm taking the brunt of the invasion on the chin and hitting the Shakturi hard. I just thought originally it was a last ditch effort to help the player. Not actually plot required. I'll give it a shot I just wanted to make sure there was nothing else I should be looking into before spending another few hours digging the bugs out.

I do get that one and the Shakturi's "You done messed up now son." message very reliably.

It's kind of funny, though. I've played quite a lot of games and I have *never* managed to even activate the Shakturi. They just will not appear in my games. I've tried to get to the end part of the AG storyline but it just will not happen. :(

Wow Spidey, we need to fix that! The upgraded Shakturi in the AI Improvement Mod can be lethal if you haven't started snowballing, and as the AI's explore more, the Beacon normally won't sit idle for long once it appears. You might need to keep an eye on the galaxy map for new ruins to explore, though, to make sure they turn up.

Did you wait for them to reveal themselves as the Shakturi or attack them while they were still the Eruktah Refugees? It makes a difference.

Oh yes. I let them build up and eat the nearest weak empire(s). The Guardians send me their warning and I ally with them and the Shakturi give me their "You're gonna die." speech.

Welp. I have no idea. I waited until the Guardians had been beaten to a pulp. Nothing. Then I thought maybe it was because I was too powerful so I completely scrapped my Navy, Army, and every defensive base dropping from 270,000 Military rating to ~7,700. Nothing. I'm sure there is some trigger for the plot event I just can't seem to trip it.

I noticed in my last game that there was a bit of a delay between my capturing the Shakturi homeworld and getting the final message from the Ancient Guardians. It seemed like that game month had to end first, and then it fired.

Hi Travic,

Could you upload a save file or two for us so that we can see why the winning condition events are not triggering for you?

Regards,

- Erik

Sorry I didn't see the reply until now. Sure I'll put a few up once I get home. Do I upload them directly to the forums or is there somewhere else I should use. I'm sure it's something small that I'm missing.

I thought that too, but I've let the game run for a while and nothing materializes.

If it helps I have managed to trigger the Planet Destroyer event once. I was on the edge of the galaxy and I had a piddly little empire, but I was the Little Empire That Could until the Shakturi showed up, built their empire and started stomping since I couldn't stop them. The Guardians then gave me the ship. I never finished though because I was so tiny I was stomped anyway.

Ok. They've been uploaded as [Travic] Win conditions problem.dwg and [Travic] Start of the war.dwg. The first is after I've taken their homeworld and turned the tide if you want a quick playthrough to the end. The second is just after war has been declared. I also have a save after I've finished the Shakturi off if you want that one.

I was also in the middle of a fuel crisis at the time. Don't judge
