I was playtesting Gunner's newest scenario, when I came upon this odd issue. The AOE wasn't moving to UNREP the CVN, despite the CVN being ordered for UNREP. The AOE was continuing along the course at 24 knots, while the CVN (and the rest of the battlegroup) had slowed down to 14 knots. Furthermore, the AOE was not stopping at her assigned station so I have no idea what the issue might have been there.

The group has a destination and the AOE is trying to get to it.
I cancelled the CVBG path to let the AOE reposition it self, and then give the CVBG a path again.
--
Another way was to give the AOE a path back to wards the CVN so it could get into position.
---
Reordering UNREP to the CVBG also caused the ships to flock to the CVN/AOE.
----
Another method was to change the lead ship to the AOE. Then the ships started to move to it

There does appear to be something funny.
If you tell the CVBG to UNREP, the ships flock to the CVN rather than to the AOE first.
Even the CGN, and it starts refueling from the CVN as shown. But it does not need fuel (0kg to go), and stays hooked up.

How can you cancel a UNREP??? Select the ship and press 'U' to cancel the ship's replenishment. It should then return to its station.

I have a save of the replenishing with the ships tied to the CVN.

My solution would be to cancel the CVN replenishment. Move the AOE back towards its station near CVN. Once it gets nearer to CVN, the pass the order to replenish the CVN.

I have been playing around some with this save, and I think that a Lead unit of a group might not be moving to replenish when ordered (that is moving away from the group's base path to move to the replenishing unit), where as the non-lead units do.
This may be because the lead unit is holding the group's path and can't deviate????

Replenishment works okay if you move the 'replenisher' to the lead unit requiring to be replenished - sort of reverse logic. As I say it works fairly well for all units that are not the Lead unit of the group.

Did that, and it immediately moved back to full speed. I then decided to try the idea of when the AOE was on station, to have her UNREP while the CVN on UNREP. That basically makes it so the AOE maneuvers alongside to start "refueling" from the CVN and then you can basically unassign her UNREP and the CVN starts getting her goodies. Seems a bit cyclical...

EDIT:

Didn't see your last post, but huh. I wonder why it requires that to be done.

Decided to test it on scenario editor. Placed one with the exact same units as in the scenario (Dwight D. Eisenhower (94-95), Sacramento (91). Wouldn't work for UNREP at all unless I did the cyclical method. Then did one with a different set of units (Nimitz (05), Arctic (96-04)) and the AOE moved to UNREP with the CVN. What the hell is going on here?

I addressed ONE issue. There are several issues listed here and we have repeatedly asked ONE ISSUE PER THREAD.

Fixed in Build 699:
1) If an UNREP ship had an explicit patrol station, it would not manouver to hook up with the group lead
2) Sanity checks for UNREP hookup (e.g. no head-on connection) and for break-off (if the receiver strays off for any reason, cut the lines)

Note:
When the UNREP vessel is part of the group, the group's lead wont manouver in order to hook up for UNREP. This is by design;
Otherwise, the others ships in group will start to reposition themselves.
[I must have been asleep when this was covered]

In the above case above, I would either move the AOE to the lead ship (as I suggested above), or change the lead ship to the AOE. And then let the other ships come to it. [When I tried this, the AOE became the Lead ship and then I positioned the CVN off to the side of it so it was still once of the center core ships.]

My fault I can see now.
I was more using the post as a holding/thinking spot than actually as a bug thread. I promise to restrain myself in future.
