Last night I added 221 Captains to the Federation roster...excluding 5 captains as they were promoted to captain rank well before the timeline of this mod. This morning I removed Richard Robau (USS Kelvin) as he was captain 11 years before the Enterprise was commissioned.

I then found an additional 35 Federation captains and then spent several hours finding the stardates that they were promoted to captain.

Final count of Federation captains is 252 and begins stardate 2240 through to 2382.

They will appear in the mod with the strict order of the official timeline as well as random order where several captains became captain in the same year.

Some of the Captains you will see

2nd captain Robert April (USS Enterprise (NCC-1701)
7th captain Matthew Decker (USS Yorktown (NCC-1717)
12th captain Christopher Pike (USS Yorktown (NCC-1717)
23rd captain James T Kirk (USS Enterprise (NCC-1701)

and if you are still playing

57th captain Montgomery Scott (Promoted to Captain …. served as First Officer/Chief Engineer
65th captain Hikaru Sulu (USS Excelsior (NCC-2000)
69th captain Spock (USS Enterprise (NCC-1701)
70th captain Nyota Uhura (USS Intrepid II

You will most likely see only the first half of these captains in the mod...... the latter half is planned for a DS9 mod and possibly a Voyager mod.

EDIT : Now sorting through 267 Admirals over the Startrek timeline to see which were serving Admirals at the time of this mod.

The Salt Vampire from M-113 ( "The Man Trap" ) was thought to be the last of it's kind.....

They were wrong!

The Salt Vampires are back and part of the mod.

Just a little picture I put together of the new looking Salt Vampires that are coming to your world looking for salt.

Old friends... a new threat

An entirely new race for the Kirk era....from the Delta Quadrant

This race is unknown to humans but is designated by the Borg as Species 2183

To reduce number of characters in the mod, I have limited the timeline of this mod to characters within a 30 year period starting from stardate 2240 through to 2270.

All characters will be random in order within 3 groups of time blocks.

First time block has Robert April as Captain
Second time block has Christopher Pike
Third time block has Captain Kirk.

Timeline starts two years prior to the Four Year War between the Federation and Klingons and ends the year before Star Trek : The Motion Picture in 2270.

Adding Captain Kirk's brother , a biologist, was difficult as the part was played by William Shatner himself with a mustache and ageing makeup.....

The new Sam is actually Jim Kirk's uncle removed from the Star Trek movie and now playing Sam in the mod.

Took a scene straight from the TOS episode Operation Annihilate , removed Spock and added Sam and merged the pictures together.

After watching the Battle of Sector 001 and other episodes with the Borg, I have made a significant change to all Borg cubes and tested in the mod.

Borg ships now more realistic as shown in Star Trek episodes.

I just picked up DW during a steam sale and was curious what sort of mods this game might have. Your mod is just the kind I was hoping it would. This looks awesome. I'm really impressed by your efforts to recreate the Trek universe so faithfully.

You have put so much work into I'm hoping that it wouldn't be offensive to offer a suggestion. I liked your Robert April that you created but one of the ret-con features they added was styling April After Roddenberry. There are mountains of images of him kicking around the net if you wanted to use his likeness rather than the one you already created.

What you have put together looks great. I'll keep an eye on this thread as your development continues.

Thanks for your kind words...

I was not really satisfied with the picture I had for Robert April and had considered Gene Roddenberry would be suitable for the role...... however the existing pictures out there of Gene in a starfleet uniform were not what I was looking for and the best one I saw was him in a Picard era captain's uniform.

So today I have decided to photoshop Gene Roddenberry into the role of Robert April and I am happy with the results.

Hope you like it.

Roy

I was going to change April's shirt to the Green shirt that Captain Kirk wore in a few episodes...... but have decided to keep Robert April's uniform gold as the green uniform was only worn by a few personnel.

There were 84 augments who were followers of Khan and were on the Botany Bay.
Marla McIvers from the Enterprise is not included as the mod is set prior to the Episode "space Seed".

The list I have so far of the augments are :

31 of the 84 Augments named so far and added to the mod

Khan
Tamas
Joachim
Sawyer
Willim
Flynn
Geff
Wajahut
Jaya
kati
Joaquin
Ling
Pherson
Oto
Rigez
Xander
Asahf
Cheng
Maltuvis
Ama Owusu
Larra
Benet
Stev
Bry
Bax
Culsen
Gibs
Landre
Brid
Menac
Roge

From the initial script sent to producers of Space Seed.....
".....space ark was the Botany Bay. “She lifted earth in 2096 A.D. Her destination was CETI II. On board were one hundred transported criminals, male and female alike, a volunteer crew of six."

Based on this script, Khan and his followers will be found on Ceti II in the mod and not CetI V which is where Kirk left them in Space Seed.

A scene showing transport of Augments deleted from Space Seed. The Augment 2nd from the right holding a phaser?

I am going through a list of 138 races that existed in the TOS period....... many races were introduced in the Enterprise Era but not mentioned in TOS..... yet they still existed but were never mentioned.

Many of these races did not have ships when seen in the TOS episodes and I am photoshopping them new ships in line with the level of technology they had reached. Some races will have very basic ships and will probably be very difficult to play as up against the bigger more advanced races.
Today I have added the 5 Xindi races and they will be angry towards everyone.

In my mod it will be preferred that the Federation, Klingons and Romulans are there by default as they are the major groups in the alpha and beta quadrant.

The Cardassians will be in the mod but will be a peaceful race as they were not warlike until 2347.... however if they are attacked they will fight back.

The Borg are well established thanks to the Q interfering with the timeline.

If you are playing the Federation, at times you will meet races such as the Vulcans or Andorians for the first time. This is pre- First Contact with these races. If you don't play your cards right you could end up in a war with the Vulcans. If you do not meet these races in the game it will be assumed they are already part of the Federation..... my story line for the mod will explain why you need to colonize Vulcan if the Vulcans are already part of the Federation...as well as explaining the appearance of the Borg.

Races such as the Klingons and Romulans are aggressive towards the Federation so little chance of making peace with them.

Have refined the "Cloaked" Romulan ships...... hard to know they are there if you control your ships attack manually. First you know of a cloaked ship is when they fire on you.... by the time you send your ships to where the attack was you have to try and determine if the cloaked ship is still there..or where it went. There is an option to turn off cloaked ships if it is too hard and people prefer non cloaked Romulans....only one ship is cloaked.

With work progressing on the other Kirk era mod by the Trek Team I am putting some changes in so the 2 mods are in the same era but different mods to play.

Doing more testing on the weekend for some ideas I have.

While Trelane uses his powers as a Q to remove the Borg and their Queen from the Janeway era and bring them back in time to the Kirk timeline, Q himself has gone back in time from the 24th Century to retrieve 2 of the Federations most formidable enemies and place them in the 23rd Century.

The Xindi and the Suliban.... 2 foes never faced by Kirk before.

Now facing an altered timeline thanks to the Q the Federation of the 23rd Century is facing certain defeat and the Future will certainly be rewitten.

With my testing of my mod as it is at the moment the one thing I have decided is that I am not very happy with the look of the ships for the various races in the mod.

For example the Federation ships are white yet are a dull grey in the mod.

So my plan this week is to revisit all the ships I have added and brighten them up a bit.

The picture below is an example of the old look of the Enterprise on the left and the new look on the right.

In the mod the ships are much smaller in scale and look better than shown in this picture.

Tonight I have started making changes to the components used in my Star Trek mod.

This is a timely procedure as I have a complete list of all the materials used in the Star Trek universe but I need to tie those materials into what parts of the star ship are made from those materials.

For example, the materials used in starship hulls for the Star Trek eras are

Duranium
Electroceramic
Kelindide
Magnesite
Monotanium
Neutronium
Polyduranide alloy
Tetraburnium
Titanium
Tritanium
Trititanium
Victurium

Now each of these need further research to determine if they were actually in use during the TOS period.

For example Duranium stays as it was in use all the way to DS9.

Electroceramic however has to go as it was used only in the Voyager era by Kazon fighters hulls along with magnesite, duranium, polyduranide alloy and traces of carbon residue.

The picture in posts below shows my initial changes to components for Federation class ships and bases.

1. The Command Centre is now called the Bridge

2. Standard Armor is now called Standard Hull Plating

3. Corvidian Shields are now called Deflector Shields Type 1

The next component to be changed is the Fission Reactor which of course becomes the warp reactor.
and then Standard Fuel Cells to become standard Dilithium Crystals

Components Screen Updated.....

Looking at hyper deny and from what I have researched there was no technology in Star Trek TOS that could effect the warp drive of another vessel.

So will probably have warp deny disabled.

The Borg Collective!

Originally created by a species of beings living on a dark and menacing world in the Beta Quadrant lit by the light of a distant giant star.

It is 1400 AD and this planet known as Havarrnus is the home of the precursor civilization that will become known as the Borg collective. A few hundred years after the colony had been established the planet’s star began to turn into a Red Giant and in the process would make the world uninhabitable. A virulent disease struck their world and this civilization was forced to use cybernetic technology to repair the extensive damage to their bodies. They left the planet and the Beta Quadrant for a new home in the Delta Quadrant. It is there that the Borg collective grows and begins assimilating entire worlds.

Towards the end of the 21st century the Borg encounter a probe called V'ger passing close by the Borg homeworld... a probe originating from the Beta Quadrant from a planet known as Earth. V'ger had collected a vast amount of information about the worlds it has passed and this information shows the Borg there are many species in the Beta Quadrant worthy of assimilation.

The Borg are visited by a being known as Q as well as by a Borg Queen brought back in time from the distant future. The Queen tells them about the Federation and the threat they are to the Borg's very existence. The Queen joins the Collective and soon takes command of the Borg and begins preparing them for an early strike at the heart of the Federation.

The Borg send V'ger on it's way back to Earth and in the many years ahead the Borg under the rule of the Borg Queen expand the Collective further in a direction ultimately leading towards Earth.

It is the 23rd century.... and the Borg have just arrived in the outer sectors of the Beta Quadrant.

I completed the Medium Borg Base with 2 Borg Cubes docked to it. The original base picture has a lot of detail to it which is lost when the picture is shrunk in the game.

I need to look at expanding the size of the base in the game as it looses a lot of detail at such a small size and would look a lot better with more detail to the base.

Will look at any options available to resize the base over coming days.

The USS Avenger stumbles upon a huge Borg Base carrying 2 cubes on the outer edges of the Beta Quadrant....confirming reports from the Ferengi that a species called the Borg had arrived in the Quadrant.

Following on from my post earlier today.....

I knew there was a way to make the Borg ships huge compared to the Federation ships.

In the screenshot below... I increased the scaling of the Borg by a factor of 5 and increased the size of the USS Vengeance by 1.75.

If you want the Federation starship smaller....scale it by 0.75 and make it really tiny.
I can now look up data on the difference in size between Federation ships and the Borg ships and get the size differences correct.

Now to do some tests to improve the resolution of the Borg vessels.
