This game reminds me a lot of red thunder flashpoint campaigns, but with more unit types and scenarios. I like the variety of the map and detail of the unit and supply management. What's an updated game that's like this one? I looked at world in flames but it appears it not single player. What other games like this are there? Thanks

If you liked the look of World in Flames then you may like Darkest Hour, which is also a worldwide strategy game with a decent AI for solo play (and only $10 to download).
For battalion/division level games with no economic component, I haven't seen anything better than TOAW.

From someone who started out on the old S&T & Wargamer magazine games back in the 1970's(and I still have some of the old magazines and games) then to "boxed" games then to computer games. Who remembers the Vic 21 & then the Commodore 64 computer? Over the years I have purchased dozens and dozens of computer games.

At the end of the day I can honestly say that:

"TOAW IS THE BEST COMPUTER WAR GAME IN THE WORLD."

It will even be better when the 3.5 update is released on the 4th July.

(Does anybody in the know want to kill that rumour?)

Sure, why not. Just after (or just before?) the release of combined arms. To be followed shortly by TOAW 4.

Watch this space. If nobody in the know comes out and says “No, cross my heart” it is not ready then one can only conclude that it is ready for release.

From my time as a sabre troop leader in Recon / Intelligence gathering it is all about what is “there” and also what is not “there”.

But no one has ever spoken up either ready or no. What has always been there is silence. No comms simply means strict radio silence is being followed, uh, strictly.
