I cannot call up the manual by clicking on manual on the intro screen. The game intro screen is to large for my screen and I can't resize it. Using win 7 64.

What is your windows resolution set to? Sounds like it must be really low. An alternative way to get to the manual is go to your Docs folder (should be c:\Matrix Games\Scourge of War Waterloo\Docs

My screen res. is normally 1360x768 its the recommended setting, I put it up to 1768x992 and the loading screen came up normal.
Thanks, and I did load the manual into my PDF program so that's ok.

Starting the game for the first time i saw only a quarter or so from the opening screen.
Culprit was the DSR setting (Nvidia graphics card) enabled. I had to disable/uncheck
DSR, start the game, set the resolution on Options Page 3, restart the game.
Now it is running w/o problem ...

Thanks for the information Floyd ..... I came here looking for a solution, having just encountered the same problem :)

Edit: just confirming that temporarily turning off DSR in the Nvidia Control Panel solved the opening screen image size problem. It seems that the program is using the maximum screen resolution defined in the DSR settings option.

Unfortunately, having started the tutorial scenario, I'm now encountering the unit images being bordered by a black opaque square .... guess there is a transparency layer glitch somewhere.

Same problem - no option to configure game resolution on the launcher splash. Running the program gives me aprox 1/4 of the game visible and that unfortunately does not include the buttons to get to the menu to change screen resolution. Editing the default.ini in the work folder changing full screen to = 1 did not work. Changing Screen resolution value from 100 to 50 in the same file did have any impact. Are there any other configuration files that I can edit to change the resolution?

Win 8.1 on a surface pro with an intel integrated video card running at 2160 x 1440. First game installed in six months of use that has had any problems. Sucks that there is no option to adjust settings from the launcher splash screen - poor design decision. Was really looking forward to the game before the bicentennial.

You need to edit sowwl.ini that can be in your Windows documents folder at:
...\Documents\SowWL

I had the same issue as my HDTV serves as my monitor. Real easy to fix by opening the SOWWL.ini file found in Documents/SowWL. Change the screen resolution from =100 to =0. This will set the game to the default 1024x768. Then you can experiment with the other resolutions to see what works best for you. Of the larger resolutions I find that 2080x1024 works best for my setup. I use this for both my HDTV (while playing game) and game.

Thanks RebBugler and VPaulus! I should have checked the docs folder for an ini. Setting to screen res=0 works. I'll play with the various resolutions and see what works well on the Surface. I'm actually going on holiday and will be at the bicentennial next week, so playing the game this week is kind of cool. Nice timing of the release.

I found no ini file is docs. I found a default.ini in WORK and changed the screenres to 0; still only get 3/4 of a screen.

It's

my documents/sowwl/sowwl.ini

The one in the work folder is just to restore the defaults if you want to, it's not read by the game.

I did that, thanks, but now I can't get full screen.

OK, I set Full Screen to 1. Fixed it. Thanks
