Late January the mining station on Ijiduf was completed and the extraction of the planets' resources could begin. This new mining station would surely result in a increase of ships constructed by the private sector. Something that will add a nice little sum to the federations income. Furthermore, the granting of the Marchom mining station to Umbalian mines has resulted in widespread demand that all mining stations the federation construct in space shall be owned by corporations.
This quickly became a large discussion in the federal government where Opal, Yrav and Luyen was against the idea, while Maravia, Ryev and most lesser kingdoms was for it. Opal with their authoritative nature argued that letting private corporations control the mining stations, which will in a very near future be the main material income, would surely lead them to demand more representation in federal politics. Luyen and Yrav on the other hand argued more that corporations only care about profit and will not do what is best for the federation. What stops them selling the resources to the pirates? Ryev, which has never really been a mercantile nation came with some arguments that "the production should be controlled by the people." Something most other nations not originally a member of the federation simply shrugged off as silly thoughts. Maravia on the other hand has a long standing history when it comes to corporations and industries and has solved many similar problems within their kingdom. They soon came to put forward a proposal. All mining stations shall be owned and maintained by the private sector. However, they shall only be allowed to trade with the federation unless specifically stated otherwise by the federal government. More so the federation will have a constant presence of troops at all mining stations. And when it comes to the corporations wanting more representation in the government, he decided to set up a council where all corporations owning stations in space will sit, to give advice to the federal government. With the gained support of Ryev, Luyen and Yrav this proposal was put in effect and the Corp. league.
With the Corp. league set up the next order of business was to come up with a system of how the stations will be designated an owner. The Marchom mining station was bought by Umbalian mines however much has changed since that time. The decision was made that in order to own a space station the corporation first and foremost have to fill two requirements. Being able to maintain the station independently, and have sworn loyalty to the federation effectively making them a part of the governmental body. Meaning that the state will be able to seize the station in case of emergency. If a corporation fill these requirements they can be elected by vote in the federal government.
Once all the bureaucracy around the station had been complete the state had to vote in a corporation to maintain it. This was surprisingly easy and all major kingdoms agreed that Jol Resources, a smaller corporation than Umbalian Mines, was the best choice.
About a quarter in to the year t he Scourge of Sivarkus reached the homeworld. Great celebrations were held as well as a huge parade while the spacecraft was hovering above the federal capital with all of its' splendour.
As predicted the mining station on Ijiduf resulted in the construction of many more freighters to transport the extracted resources which in turn resulted in a boost to the income generated from the SFSS.
On the 27th of June the Solverus Yorpa Serfu was found dead in his bed at federal headquarters. It struck the federation hard and by surprise. No one had expected Serfu to die so unexpectedly and by doing so he had put the federal government in turmoil. Upon the previous Solvarus death, a new one is to be elected as fast as possible. This resulted in political chaos upon which the monarch of Yrav, Nachis Unkaro, was elected to lead the federation. This man, who is known for being disorganized will not bring any good to the federation. With little knowledge of how the space industry works his leadership will slow expansion considerably.
The election was a joke to say the least, where no one had actually proposed themselves. The election was held blindly without any real advertising of the candidates and Nachis Unkaro won with a majority when having only four votes for himself. The rest were spread out between the other major kingdoms and many lesser kingdoms voted for each other solely to gain favour.
With the death of the previous Solverus new characters saw their chance to get in to politics. This lead to the young man Xo Serfu (Not related to Yorpa Serfu) being recruited in to be the first interplanetary ambassador of the federation. Even though no foreign nations except for the Firoz Security had been discovered yet, his position was most valuable.
The morning on the 8th of August, was just like any other morning. Freighters were taking off to transport goods from the mining stations. Ships were transporting passengers to and from the SFSS which was orbiting calmly around Sivarkus as the sun rose on the horizon. The monarchs of the federation assembled in the chamber to discuss appropriate events and proposals. Everything was just like any other morning. However, early afternoon, the SFSS detected strange energy fluctuations in orbit around Sivarkus. Energy fluctuations that has only been seen when one of the pirate ships had jumped in to orbit. Although it resembled that of a pirate ships FTL arrival, it could surely not be. No pirate ship could be this large. It would mean it was almost half as large as the SFSS. The captain of the space station was sure that this could not be the case, but still kept a close eye on the energy spikes. But soon, everything would change. Just past afternoon central federation time, a massive ship arrived in orbit around Sivarkus. It flagged the mark of the Firoz Security. The pirate faction the federation had attacked but a year ago, and now they were here for revange.
Panic quickly spread among the freighters and miners in orbit who desperately tried to evade the ship and get away. The SFSS, now retrofitted to be able to defend the home world from any and all attackers launched a volley of missiles towards the enemy. Before too long, a new signal was received at the space station. It was captain Osu Lapuri in the Scourge of Sivarkus, who was arriving from the far side of the planet, and was ready for battle. As the missiles and the Scourge of Sivarkus was travelling towards the ship, the vessel turned around and started moving towards the moon. The only aim with this could be to attack Marchom mining station, a civilian target. Within moments of reaching the moon, an array of lasers rained death upon the moons' surface.
The mining colony was lost, along with hundreds, if not thousands of lives. As the Scourge of Sivarkus arrived a battle began in orbit. However, the shields of this massive pirate ship was far too superior for anything the federation could field and the federal frigate was forced to withdraw. Without the Scourge of Sivarkus to stand between the SFSS and the pirates, it moved towards the planet. Upon its' arrival, despite the station firing missiles point blank upon the enemy, it unleashed a volley almost ripping the station in half. Reluctantly and humiliated, the federal government sent a message of surrender to the pirates. The terms were put at a fee of 1810 credits per month. Enough to build a frigate once per month. But what was the federation to do? They could not fight off such a superior force. It will be a long time until any resistance will be put again.
As soon as the massive ship had left orbit, reconstruction efforts began. The SFSS and Scourge of Sivarkus had been severely damaged and the Marchom mining station had been completely obliterated. This was a huge setback for the federation but they will however not be demoralised. Instantly the reconstruction efforts began and the Sivarkus Star was ordered to construct a new mining station on Marchom to replace the old one. However, it was soon discovered that the massive ship was still present in the solar system near the Ubalve asteroid belt. Even if this made the government and the population feel unease, nothing can be done about this at the moment.
Furthermore, just after the attack the reason for it was discovered. The intelligence agent Lutar Zabros, sent out to obtain the territorial map of the Firoz Security, returned almost entirely empty-handed. It was soon discovered that he had been found out and bribed in to aiding the pirates with vital information about the SFSS' stations' design as well as military protocols. This was seen as a disgrace to all of the federation and he was executed for high treason.
However, his death was not entirely pointless. While he had not discovered any of the pirate bases, he had found the home-world of the Oomik race. Far south-east east in a system known as the Ooman system laid the ocean world of Ooman 4. The home world of the Oomik with a total of 317 million of their species. Opal swore that one day this world will be under Fironez rule.

Following the defeat of the federation at Firoz Security hands in late 2107 the five major kingdoms started discussing reforming the federation in to a republican dictatorship where the Solverus once more reigns without question. This system, which had been in place not long ago, would make it easier to maintain the ships and bases now in place as well as speed up research in vital areas.
This however, was not all. While Nachis Unkaro was the current Sovlerus of the federation the monarch's of Opal, Maravia and Ryev agreed that he was not 'suitable' for the job and had to be removed. And so, on the 15th of August, the day after Nachis Unkaro signed the reformation of the empire, he was shot by Opal agents. Who was to replace him, would be a question for another time. For now a combined regency council by the monarch's of the plotting nations was put in place.
Furthermore the smaller nations of the now republican Sivarkus found this outrageous and threatened to rebel but the declaration of a unholy military alliance between Opal, Maravia, Ryev and the now pupated nation of Yrav made short work of this. Following this new alliance most smaller nations were forced in to becoming puppets. That except for the neighbours of Ryev who were 'put under their protection' which essentially meant the same thing.
Luyen, which refused to raise arms against anyone was the only one not taking any nations under their wing. The result of this massive political change was effectively 4 super states on the planet of Sivarkus, not counting in Luyen. While they had already been the one dictating the future of the world they could now do so unquestioned. This new political change did however not change the position of corporations and their business in space.
In an attempt to strike hope in its population the newly formed republic the ordered the construction of the unmanned exploration ship 'Cheerful Impulse' on the 20th of February, who was to be sent to one of the nearby star systems on a one way trip to explore its celestial bodies. The ship was completed on the 25th of Apil and was immediately sent off on its' quest. The trip is estimated to take many years and is presumably one way. More so, the vessel will run out of fuel before reaching its' target and will have to use reserve power to make the last of it.
After having suffered such a humiliating defeat the federation took a much more active initiative, and ordered a mining station to be built on Sivarkus 4. A gas giant filled with Hydrogen, Magneton, red plasma and Caslon. All of which will be highly useful in the near future.
More so, with the threat of the pirates gone, for now, a weapon research station was queued to be built on Sivarkus 6, the other gas giant in the system. This planet contained special gases in its atmosphere which would surely aid the research of military equipment and weapons.
