I am a potential buyer and trying to understand the game from your enthusiastic posts.

I am seeing lots of detailed spreadsheet results and wondering how you manage to digest and then
use this information when making strategic and tactical decisions?

while at first it may look all complicated, it isn't after you have played the easy ones and seen a few video's and AAR's etc, the players guides is for beginners, then there's a manual for the really heavy night time read, not read it myself as yet, but will do one day, either way, what all the video's you can, twitch live feeds and youtube ones, then make your own mind up, either way have fun, we are :)

Once you start to get a handle on what you are doing, it is easy to pinpoint the important info that you need to see how your plans are working. It looks like a lot to begin with, but there really are just a few very important reports that you will look at each turn. It all depends on how deep into the game mechanics you wish to get and how you feel you can use the info.

should also say, your focus changes as the game progresses.

If I'm playing the Allies, at the start I'll obsess over the air reports, in particular to understand the strategic air war - what am I hitting, where are my losses, where are the German losses etc.

In my current AAR, I am currently obsessed with the air weather chart. For the winter 1944/45 that is critical for the allies, can I use my airpower or not? Also the supply network, can I keep my key formations fully equipped.

Not looked in detail at the air reports for a number of turns.

Burn rate.
Whether it is planes, pilots, supplies, manpower...

Balancing consumption with production, but also realizing there is a season for things.

Watching the set of tutorial videos will give you an idea of the course of play. There is a lot of detail that you can dive into, but to start off, it's not necessary to get overwhelmed with the detail. You can initially get into the flow of the game without getting bogged down and then ease into the detail as your experience increases.. Start with smaller scenarios. I think I played Operation Husky 5 or 6 times in a row before moving on to something else.
