I have not played the game for a while so I found two problems I can't seem to solve.

1. I have three helicopters assigned to the same ASW mission and selected the 1/3 rule with a 0 for the "Try to keep". But my three ships each launch all three helicopters at the same time when only one helicopter should be launched at a time. It is three different helicopters, three different Lynx versions.

2. How do I get my helicopters to use the "Quick Turnaround" functionality. I have enabled it in the Air Ops window for each of the Helicopters but they still ready for four hours after each successful flight.

Welcome back!

1- I think it is because they are different types of helicopters (different versions of the same model, the Lynx). Apparently, the 1/3 rule only works for the same platforms engaged on the same mission. So what the AI is doing is counting and launching 1/3 for each platform type, which means it is launching the three at same time. In that case, you could create the mission, assign just one helo for it and manually remove it from the mission when it has RTB and add another one, sou they will go one at a time.

2- Platforms have a limited flying time that they can quick turnaround. When they exceed this time, they have to stand for some hours before get ready again. Maybe this is what happening with your helicopters, but I cant be sure without a savegame.

Hope I have helped!

As for number 2, some quick turn around loadouts can only do quick-turn around during the day. If you have air operations messages enabled the message log should show you what is going on.

For the first problem that is also what I suspected. Perhaps there could be a feature for a player to group units as the same type if they need to do that so you don't have to micromanage them so much in this case. A simple check box with "treat all craft as same type" in the mission view would probably suffice.

For the second problem they can fly both night and day. Each mission last about 90 minutes... when they land they stand down for four hours instead of taking off after 15min. They have not expended any ammunition if that is important, they only need to refuel.

Please read the FAQs on turn around times and do a search on it. There is a ton of information on the topic on the board. It has been discussed a lot.

Jorgen_CAB,

I have thought the same about a feature like that. The existing model is the most sensible that can be done without involving the user and works in most cases (a single carrier or airbase). However, for smaller navies which may form task forces out of less homogenous ships/helicopters, it would be good to allow the player to define a grouping for purposes of role and that to take priority over the default.

I also wonder how this sort of thing works in real life: would a force of three ships coordinate their helicopters on the same patrol zone or would the logistics challenges mean that each would act independently?
