In Dec 1941 GC PBEM and just seen the above - these Brigades seem to be superior to the sapper regiment but haven't seen many comments about them. Don't have the game in front of me right now but am I missing something about them vs sapper regiments?

They cost 5 admin points to build vs. 2 for a sapper regt. Not worth it.

Bde is an On-Map unit, Rgt is a Support unit usually attached to HQ or to Corps units.

not so sure. If you optimise a couple of your shock armies for fort busting then they have a role. Something like 4 rifle corps (16 CP), an artillery division (18CP) and 3 of these (21CP), plus the right support units can give you massive engineering and artillery values. Even if the attack fails, you are likely to knock down a fort level.

also as brigades, you have a pretty good chance of reserve activations.

So I don't build many, but I find some useful from late 1943 onwards

Thanks - I'm only in Dec '41 so getting a little ahead of myself but favour big SUs so always on the lookout. As they are on-map brigades Loki has answered my follow up question about beefing-up cav armies and use of on-map arty.

Having some many options makes Russians interesting.

for on-map artillery brigades/divisions I do two things. Some I assign to GDs/Shock Armies from 1943 onwards. You'll find by May 43 you can have unused front command point capacity as (a) it increases again and (b) as you convert to corps you'll find many armies drop to using around 16 cp as opposed to 18 cp.

I then use the old airborne corps commands, each can handle 4 divisions and they link back to the MDs (so again spare your front line command points). If they are being used for bombardment, the malus for being in the wrong command structure doesn't actually matter. Other players raise combined arms armies to control their artillery divisions so it seems to be a matter of choice.

In general managing the transition from the 1941-2 army to the 1943+ army is quite a challenge, not least you have a lot of options and what is most effective may well reflect the situation in your particular game and your own preferred play style.

That is wrong. It is only 3 AP, you can test that (1.08.04).
To maximise your army it will be okay. You are limited to three support units attached to a corps. This brigade will give you nearly 1 cv (moral 50). The regiment will give you 0,6 cv and cost 2 AP. The battalion will have 0,2 cv and cost 1 AP.
